I had to format my computer, but I had made a backup of my wallet on august 2017... now I have installed new version of byteball, and I can recover my wallet from restore option but always says this:

Uncaught exception: Error: message encrypted to unknown key, device *********************************, len=228. The error might be caused by restoring from an old backup or using the same keys on another device.

What can I do in order to restore my wallet?... I'm using the latest version of byteball and my backup was from august 2017

What happens if the private keys to an address are compromised? Can we contact Jumio to ensure that we are able to link a new address, and the verification of the previous address is revoked?
It shouldn't be too difficult for Jumio to implement a standard procedure in these cases. With increase in cybercrimes, this is bound to occur.

You better make sure it's realy strong. And make sure your phone or PC is unhackable so nobody will steal your password via a keylogger and the like methods.

And make sure that the Jumio database is never hacked. Because once it's hacked you are ...cked.

As far as I know, Jumio shouldn't keep records, right? Jumio only verifies the identity (once!), then it's hash is stored in the DAG, and Jumio doesn't need your paperwork anymore. Jumio witnesses the hash is correct.

Some advice after running the real name attestation for a few days.

- read the instructions.  They are long but everything is important.

Two most frequent mistakes:
1. make sure you are in a single address wallet.  If not, switch to one.  If it doesn't exist, create it.  Fortunately, for all new users, the main wallet is single-address by default.
2. use a document with your ID in Latin characters.  Some countries (e.g. China, Russia) have their national ID cards with the name printed in the national language only.  They don't work.  Use your driver license or the passport you use to travel abroad.

- when scanning your ID, make sure there is no glare from reflected light, especially if your ID has a glossy surface.  Otherwise, Jumio can't read it.


Also, when you are referring someone, be prepared to babysit them a bit to ensure the best experience.

The article definitely mentions DAG in a positive light, but I wouldn't go as far as saying that Byteball is mentioned in a positive light. Nxt is the coin which is highlighted, while all other coins which use DAG, like ITC, IOTA and Byteball only get a passing mention.
Of course, even passing mentions like Forbes could do us a world of good.

The are not supposed to store your private data in no database. Only hash in the DAG. To collect does not mean to store. If they do store your private data in their database, all this ID verification on byteball does not make sense.

The second XRB stopped their captcha faucet it skyrocketed along with its user count.

Devs really need to improve the image of Byteball. There's a lot of information asymmetry (for example https://www.reddit.com/r/ByteBall/comments/7sarfg/distribution_methods/). I personally thought the name was okay but most people on reddit/newbies disagree. Daily posts complaining about the name. I strongly encourage the devs to rename the platform and units. Pretty much anything nice and serious-sounding without any unrelated connotations would be good and you could do some polling.

Still no new exchanges? If you need to pay them to list GBYTE that is a much better investment of the undistributed funds than subsidies of Jumio. Look Jumio partnership is okay, but you need to halt it until they fix their technical problems and their pricing structure to only charge if the attempt failed due to a fraudulent attempt, not merely a technical fault of Jumio. And to put it bluntly a flood of verified users trying to get free money is pointless without an ecosystem of enterprises that those users would patronize and that require users to be identified by Jumio.

So what is the point of paying 8 dollars on front UNCONDITIONALY, I don't get it. We won't have too many new Byteball user. Why centralize the verification ID with "Jumio", there is https://shuftipro.com/ also.
I thought we are in a decentralice small world with a conditional payments.
Why should I loose 8 dollars if the condition of ID verification is not met. I thoght that we were in Byteball, not bitcoin.
