hot off the press...

current price $6300.00 for a sierra miner at 1.2TH/s
lets say you want 2.4TH/s that's $12,600.00

soon increase dramatically would make the price over $12,600.00 for 2 sierra's at only 2.4TH/s  (The Avenger is not gonna be a happy chap after hearing this)

this makes a KNC Neptune look like a real bargain...  grab one while they last.

quick click link below Neptune's wont last long after this news gets around.

Looks like the HF gear is about as energy efficient as the Jupiters too. Having 400gh/s on a single chip suddenly seems irrelevant.

Actually, that makes a Neptune look like not a bargain. 2.4TH within 30 days for the same price you paid for 3-4TH 3-5 months from now.

Think about that for a moment.

Part of the reason KNC is moving to newer wafer technology is that they knew the competitors would match/exceed their first gen stuff on their first try. Here is soon to be an example.

Are you suggesting that one could purchase 2.4th/s from HF now and receive it by Jan 30th? If not (because that's ridiculous), when would I have had to purchase by to get it in 30 days?

30 days? Where are you getting that from? If you try to order now for BATCH 4 it says "Orders placed today are guaranteed to ship by March 31, 2014." or about the time the Neptune ships.

There's another way of reading that FINCEN stuff which is essentially "if you own the machine and mine from it for yourself, you don't need to register". So it doesn't matter if it is co-located in a hosting farm or in your home, it's your miner with the income going to you. Mining contracts are a distribution from the company that owns the miner (i.e. not you) to a customer who has paid to receive a share of the earnings over a period of time. In that case you don't own the miner so the bitcoins are being transmitted to you. KnC always went to lengths to say that if hosted  it was your specific miner and would be shipped to you at the end of the contract, so I don't see how they would be caught by FINCEN as well as the fact that they're outside US jurisdiction.

This makes sense to me. If my miner is in a hosting facility and I am paying for power and network for the hardware. It is still my hardware and if I am dictating where the BTC go then I am mining for myself.

US out of my BTC!

Go look at Hashfast's threads here to see how thrilled their customers are. It's BFLish to say the least. Think hard before ordering from an outfit like that.

As a Batch 1 customer from both KNC and Hashfast, I cannot recommend KNC enough.

KNC = honest, capable, prompt and actually delivers.
Hashfast = dishonest, incapable, delayed and doesn't deliver.

Of course, the decision is ultimately up to you.

I'm talking about for the folks who are batch 1, obviously. Yes they're delayed--KNC did a fabulous job with delivery, I love them for that.

I'm just examining the price/hash/kw comparison.

Once HF (or XYZ Brand) has equipment flowing through the pipeline, it will continue to flow. Some folks here don't stop to realize that I suppose. KNC decided to shut off the orders and halt the pipeline, so I suppose some folks are used to the 'batch' mentality. HashFest, and other brands, aren't interested in stopping the pipeline. They're going to keep taking orders, and keep shipping, non-stop, once they have worked their bugs out.

If their batch 1 ships within 30 days--which is reasonable--there's no reason their successive batches won't follow roughly on original schedule, provided they have parts on hand.

I have no skin in the game either way, this is basic analysis. KNC wouldn't be ramping up to take orders if they didn't take the competition seriously.

I think KnC's main competition right now is going to be Cointerra. When they first came on the scene they looked really vaporware-ish, but it looks like they are for real. If they pull together a solid device without major issues then that will be good for our industry and ultimately us as consumers.

If you try to order now for BATCH 4 it says "Orders placed today are guaranteed to ship by March 31, 2014." or about the time the Neptune ships.
In your dreams!

Hashfast have certainly messed up delivery if they promised October delivery. And they've broken promises. But so did kfc "refund up to shipping" lie, which they broke before a single unit shipped. And that happened when they had no competition and $30 million ish in orders! Imagine how it'll be the next time when dozens of companies have shipped and are competing. KNC are gonna be lying through their teeth to hold on to people's money.

As a side note, the clause "All refunds will be refunded in dollars and you can refund up to shipment" - you won't find any mention of refunds in any newsletters or marketing email for *any* knobtune batch. It's all been very carefully thought out. That statement was only on the product page, which is taken down immediately when they have sold. If it's not there, it never existed, right?  Tongue

So there is no record anywhere on the KNC website for Knobtune orders which mentions "All refunds will be refunded in dollars and you can refund up to shipment". Good luck holding them to a claim that does not exist. They've got very good by now at removing anything incriminating from their website, so it's that much harder to provide evidence to credit card companies/lawyers.

But back to the main point - delivery. The knc t&c's:
8.1  ...... The delivery date is provided for information purposes only and shall not be binding on KnCMiner. The Purchaser is not entitled to refuse acceptance of the Products, withdraw, cancel or revoke the order or make claims for compensation due to any delayed delivery.

Q2 is only for information purposes!  Grin

Hashfast now have a working chip. It'll just be refinements and products coming off the assembly line for 3 months solid. I dont know anything about Hashfast, but it seems like all they have to do it keep building something they now have working - shouldn't be that hard. So I see no reason at all for them not to deliver on or before March 31.

KNC are never going to ship on or before March 31. They even say they won't in there terms of sale! If there was any hope of them shipping March 31, they would have said Q1 and taken the flak if they shipped a week or two later. But they know they cannot deliver by this date, so they put out a whitewash date of Q1/Q2. They leave it up to people to delude themselves into thinking it'll be Q1.

KNC could easily have said April 2014 and that would probably still sound good to plenty people. But they have a three month safety blanket by saying Q2, all the way up to end June 2014 (and if they do what they have done 100% of the time before, that could easily mean July 2014). So you can be sure if they gave themselves a 3 months safety blanket, they need it.

And what KNC will be shipping is another beta, untested prototype pos vs a model that has been in production and refinement for 3 months. Would I sink my money into something that has been in production solidly for 3 months or some untested beta crap? Neither, as I'm not buying any new mining hardware right now, considering the massive losses I made buying untested faulty beta garbage from KNC. But it's pretty obvious which is the better choice - the refined product.

Good luck to merv77's fairly desperate reseller knobtune sales pitch. Say what you want to try to make knc's July 3.5TH sound better than 2.4TH in March, but don't bring my name into it thanks.

KNC are never going to ship on or before March 31...

I've decided to ask for a refund on one of the three Neptunes I have on order in the hopes of buying more Jupiters if they go on sale again. I'll let everyone know if/when I get my refund and if KnC gives me any trouble.

I agree with you about March 31st being unrealistic. I'm hoping they deliver by April 31st and most of my estimates reflect that. What I can tell you is that I'd much rather have an untested beta product in April than a fully tested device in June.
