$9995 again?

The 2nd public batch will probably ship 1 month after the 1st public batch and is therefore less valuable, hence the $3k reduction in price. KnC has not explained this well, so your confusion about this issue is understandable.

Got it. thanks. I guess it doesn't help that the 2nd public batch price is the same as the private batch price.

They're just taking more batch orders, like the other companies are doing (CoinTerra for example), as KNC plans to make several batches of these. This isn't an error, it'll be delivered after the first batches of Neptunes. They just didn't describe it well.

As a Batch 1 customer from both KNC and Hashfast, I cannot recommend KNC enough.

KNC = honest, capable, prompt and actually delivers.
Hashfast = dishonest, incapable, delayed and doesn't deliver.

Of course, the decision is ultimately up to you.

+1.

KNC has its problems but they are nothing like HF who blatantly lied to customers to defraud them.   If after, anyone buys from HF because they are a deal well you are an idiot.

Which is why my wager has been with Cointerra.

Go look at Hashfast's threads here to see how thrilled their customers are. It's BFLish to say the least. Think hard before ordering from an outfit like that.

A new, novel, (bit) coined word has entered our vocabulary!   BFLish

Love it.

If you try to order now for BATCH 4 it says "Orders placed today are guaranteed to ship by March 31, 2014." or about the time the Neptune ships.
In your dreams!

Hashfast have certainly messed up delivery if they promised October delivery. And they've broken promises. But so did kfc "refund up to shipping" lie, which they broke before a single unit shipped. And that happened when they had no competition and $30 million ish in orders! Imagine how it'll be the next time when dozens of companies have shipped and are competing. KNC are gonna be lying through their teeth to hold on to people's money.

As a side note, the clause "All refunds will be refunded in dollars and you can refund up to shipment" - you won't find any mention of refunds in any newsletters or marketing email for *any* knobtune batch. It's all been very carefully thought out. That statement was only on the product page, which is taken down immediately when they have sold. If it's not there, it never existed, right?  Tongue

So there is no record anywhere on the KNC website for Knobtune orders which mentions "All refunds will be refunded in dollars and you can refund up to shipment". Good luck holding them to a claim that does not exist. They've got very good by now at removing anything incriminating from their website, so it's that much harder to provide evidence to credit card companies/lawyers.

But back to the main point - delivery. The knc t&c's:
8.1  ...... The delivery date is provided for information purposes only and shall not be binding on KnCMiner. The Purchaser is not entitled to refuse acceptance of the Products, withdraw, cancel or revoke the order or make claims for compensation due to any delayed delivery.

Q2 is only for information purposes!  Grin

Hashfast now have a working chip. It'll just be refinements and products coming off the assembly line for 3 months solid. I dont know anything about Hashfast, but it seems like all they have to do it keep building something they now have working - shouldn't be that hard. So I see no reason at all for them not to deliver on or before March 31.

KNC are never going to ship on or before March 31. They even say they won't in there terms of sale! If there was any hope of them shipping March 31, they would have said Q1 and taken the flak if they shipped a week or two later. But they know they cannot deliver by this date, so they put out a whitewash date of Q1/Q2. They leave it up to people to delude themselves into thinking it'll be Q1.

KNC could easily have said April 2014 and that would probably still sound good to plenty people. But they have a three month safety blanket by saying Q2, all the way up to end June 2014 (and if they do what they have done 100% of the time before, that could easily mean July 2014). So you can be sure if they gave themselves a 3 months safety blanket, they need it.

And what KNC will be shipping is another beta, untested prototype pos vs a model that has been in production and refinement for 3 months. Would I sink my money into something that has been in production solidly for 3 months or some untested beta crap? Neither, as I'm not buying any new mining hardware right now, considering the massive losses I made buying untested faulty beta garbage from KNC. But it's pretty obvious which is the better choice - the refined product.

Good luck to merv77's fairly desperate reseller knobtune sales pitch. Say what you want to try to make knc's July 3.5TH sound better than 2.4TH in March, but don't bring my name into it thanks.
Once again... Total Bullshit.  I JUST got a refund on a Neptune.
Here's a DIRECT QUOTE from yesterday's e-mail ...    "No problem at all, the decision is always on you hehe, we promise refund up to shipment."

And You are saying you had "Massive losses" out on a KNC purchase?
I think you may be in a "league of your own" there.... like the only one....   congratz

Roll Eyes It doesn't mean they won't miss dates. It just means, unlike KNC or others, they will face legal issues if they fail. Which leads me to believe they likely won't fail to deliver the product as it is described.

FWIW they taped out on time IIRC, or within a few days of the original milestone.

KNC was late, by a month according to some of the original stakeholders. Nobody is perfect. KNC has done the best so far.

Just an observation, but Avenger has not had an RMA OR a refund, so has no right to comment on it.
Did you?  He's had his unit for how long? and claims massive losses?    gimme a break....  I don't believe a word of it.
The t&c also states refusal of refund from DELAYED DELIVERY is what's not allowed...
If I decided I don't like the color of the case........   ?
The point is... They ARE doing refunds up to the time of shipment, I just got one, and the statement was re-iterated to me by Lucy just yesterday.
This isn't a "Pissing contest"... it's what is actually going on, versus "Avengers opinion of what's going on", which simply isn't true.
If you asked for a refund right now, you will get it. Simple as that.
Is someone in here saying they just asked for a Nep refund, and was refused?  I think not!
Speak up if this happened to you.
He consistently gives out incorrect information as if it were absolutely true, whilst not actually knowing anything other than he's out on a mission to make KNC look bad in every post. I mean, I'm sittin' here looking at a $26,400.40 full refund on 2 Gen public batch Neps that doesn't exist then, right?
Oh, I'm special I guess...   I guess the Jupiters I snag up with the refund $ won't exist then either.
I'd like Him to mathematically show us how he lost out on his KNC purchase, That would be fun!

So, pissing contest aside, is there any information about the progression of the ASIC chip?  I understand that it's based on the present KnC ASIC IC so it's functionality would from that standpoint be expected but about the very sub-microscopic element of the new design - I read that the process in general suffers from unanticipated never before seen quantum effects at the atomic level.  If that's so then probably the fixes that seemed to have improved a competitors 65nm ASIC might be applicable but is there any worry on that score?

Wouldn't it be a kick if as some kind of penance for success they've sold a process that some specialists could know as impossible.  That's a lot of btc that isn't going into other available mining gear.

Once HF (or XYZ Brand) has equipment flowing through the pipeline, it will continue to flow. Some folks here don't stop to realize that I suppose. KNC decided to shut off the orders and halt the pipeline, so I suppose some folks are used to the 'batch' mentality. HashFest, and other brands, aren't interested in stopping the pipeline. They're going to keep taking orders, and keep shipping, non-stop, once they have worked their bugs out.

That is not a good thing to "not stop the pipeline". That's why KnC has stuck to their Network Protection Statement, which to an extent, as best as they can, protect the mining profits of their customers. Any company who doesn't see this, is shooting themselves in the foot. Their customers won't see much of a return, because they're constantly flooding the market with hashing power, and their customers won't be likely to purchase from them again. Maybe companies without network-protection-like-statements don't give a shit about their customers?

Looking from the angle of increasing the network security, speed of confirms as it grows, etc, etc it is beneficial to bitcoin. It is appropriate and is what the system needs in the long run. You need more and more hashpower as more and more it is used.

Relating to miners, no it'll suck over time. Which is why bitcoin has always been leading toward industrial mining. It will evolve. The time for individual/small-scale/home-mining to be valuable is nearing its end, I would say 2015 would be that marker. Unless/until BTC value skyrockets.

There is an end for the home market either way.

Status update for the refund on one of my three Neptunes:

  • 12/29 - 11:06pm ET: Sent email to sales@kncminer.com asking for refund
  • 12/29 - 11:06pm ET: Automated response confirming my request was received
  • 12/30 - 8:37AM ET: Kurt from KnC tells me that my order has been canceled as requested and he asks for my wire transfer info
  • 12/30 - 8:49AM ET: I respond to Kurt's request with my info and inquire about whether I can be refunded in the equivalent amount of bitcoin instead
  • 12/30 - 9:21AM ET: Kurt responds to confirm that the refund has been initiated to my bank account and that they do not offer refunds in bitcoin

I have no idea if/when the next sale for Jupiters may be, but it looks like the refund process is extremely quick! I'll update once more when I see the money in my bank account.

0.93 on both, had 0.94 on them but found HW was higher.

Just found this picture on ebay tonight dressed up with a note, even better claiming these are November units that just arrived at the beginning of December direct from that "Sweden company". Now I'm getting offers to Skype to provde they really are hashing..

Def not selling mine so looks like someone stole my pic. These are October day 1 miners with 8 vrms. Ask the seller for a pic showing them as 4 vrm models Wink

I sent an email on 26th to get an RMA for 2 damaged coolers and still nothing. It was a reply to an email that said: If you wish to return the damaged cooler then we can provide you with an RMA number and send a replacement.
Also on the 4th December I sent an email to Sam and nothing.
