Guys, think about it; why are they preselling these? For the first batch of asics it could be argued they simply needed the money. KnC doesnt need the money to pay for a 20nm development anymore, they almost made enough money to buy TSMC (okay, slight hyperbole). They could easily develop the 20nm chip and sell it from stock the moment its there. The only reason they are again selling preorders is the same reason why BFL (who doesnt need the money either) sells Monarch preorders, is that it locks in the price at whats most likely a much too high level. I pretty much predicted this: I very much doubt this chip will materialize, as the economics most likely dont make sense (by the time it would arrive, price per TH would be so low it would be very hard to recover the NRE), unless they start another round of preorders fairly soon and enough people are dumb enough to fall for it yet again.
Many of you got lucky with the first batch of KnC's 28nm miners; they arrived pretty much on schedule, bitcoin price exploded and most importantly, the competition collectively fucked up keeping difficulty much lower than it would have been otherwise. You really think you will get this lucky again? With such a new and not yet mature 20nm process? Or even luckier, because on batch 1 and certainly 2, probably not everyone is going to achieve a bitcoin denominated positive ROI, perhaps not even a dollar denominated one if the price collapses.

... and you can refund up to shipment Which we know was a lie last time around. Not exactly, you were able to refund to the point the list was sent to the facility to process your order for assembly. Ha, lying fucker. Let's remind ourselves of what ACTUALLY happened shall we? From newsletter 26th SEPTEMBER 2013 https://www.kncminer.com/news/news-37 The big news is that all the production orders that are due for delivery before October 15th have now been confirmed with the factory for final assembly and our production schedule is now locked. As such, we are not able to make any more changes. THEY STOPPED REFUNDS BEFORE A SINGLE DEVICE SHIPPED. Even people with "Paid" status (i.e. not sent to facility for assembly) were NOT able to get a refund, even if their device did not ship for another 4 weeks. So this is pure and utter lies once again from the paid knc shill. It just shows the how low KNC will go, putting this lie of refund up to shipping in the terms of sale again. When their paid representative comes on here and tries to change reality, there can be no doubt these are crooks with no ethics or morals. And after their big song and dance about accepting cc payment https://www.kncminer.com/news/news-35, they are now only accepting non-refundable/non-chargeback payments forms. That's got to get your spider senses tingling regarding how they will "refund" you Do some serious research before buying (or not) and don't take anything proven liar buttcoinorama sells tells you. He gets paid to lie to you and he has no qualms about doing that. All orders were sent to the facility at the same time in one batch file, all overseen by a logistics contractor handling the bespoke software that integrates the production line with UPS. One guy sits in the office, one on site when needed. Do not pretend you know anything about what you are talking about.

About Neptune numbers, 3THash for $16k, by early 2014..
3THash takes up to 3kWh power now, means, $2628 for electricity a year @ $0.10.
30% efficiency would be, $876 savings a year on KNC 20nm machines. $1752 at $0.20, and $2628 for $0.30 a kWh power.
For 6THash, CoinTerra - 3x2THash = $18k KNC 20nm - 2x3THash = $32k
That's $14k extra, for ~$1760 savings a year, or $3520 for two years, at $0.10. At $0.20 kWh, $3520 and $7040. At $0.30 kWh, $5280 and $10.5K.
Worth it? Correct me, if I'm wrong.
Cointerra is basing their numbers on a best case simulation and are competing with Hashfast who are basing their numbers on a best case simulation. Neither have provided evidence a 28nm chip that operates at 400, or 500 Gh/s is at all feasible in the real world. There is reasoning behind this we will be able to explore in only a few weeks time. KnC uses minimum values based on calculations they know are achievable in the real world. There is reasoning behind that we will be able to explore in a few months time. W.r.t. my own predictions based upon the mining offerings this year I have stood correct on every single occasion. I was totally spot on w.r.t. Hashfast, X-Crowd, Cedeatec, Cryonix, Payonix, and multiple others by researching the companies, the tech, taking a pragmatic stance and paying attention to the terms, conditions and accountability they wish to accept. With KnC it was evident they were capable and had the drive and vast network of contacts available to them. Nothing was ever hidden behind an NDA, just based upon trust that I could keep certain elements to myself. What they were comfortable with me revealing I did and always supported that with evidence. I never told anyone to do anything but follow through with research of their own, double check my own with theirs and pay them a visit. The fact a handful did is worrying to say the least, the fact that so few companies that claim to be mining hardware manufacturers behave as if they are operating a real business with a future is equally so.

You are telling people that once the batch file goes to production a few days before production starts IS THE SAME AS " you can refund up to shipment". That is blatantly not the same thing. And it seems either you don't know what you are talking about or your prefer to mislead people by altering what the word "up to shipping" means to most english speaking people. It's "up to a few days before production starts" - at best - given what KNC did before. Change your terms to reflect this and stop lying to and misleading people.

People are wondering if 20NM chips are possible/feasible/viable. http://www.xilinx.com/products/technology/ultrascale/index.htmProbably so. I have some of the stuff coming to me in early new year -- assuming people meet the new ship dates. No. not for miners -- just other stuff. fwiw

@Bitcoinorama, thanks for your comments.
My 100% investments is with KNC, now. I would trust KNC over other vendors. They delivered fast, and it's just not fast enough to my BTC investment back.
I just decided to stay away from it till, 2014-Q2. I think, by then there will be some stability, ~10% upwards trend.
It would be great if they could give us a date / month estimate and customer protection plan (even if it costs extra $$).
Also, I hope 4 months down the line KNC will be able to sell miners directly, without requiring a preorders.
