Thanks for that    I'm pretty sure KNC are still waiting for CT and/or HF to start shipping en masse before dropping any Neptune news.  Although a road map map plus weekly or bi-monthly announcements would have been good.  OT I'm pretty sure HF and maybe CT too are self mining currently.  All ASIC company's mine for themselves.  They just use customer money to bootstrap their outfits.  The current difficulty growth could be in part not only be HF and CT self mining but also a massive batch of Jupiter's being 'burned-in'.

Why would they pay a premium? Because when Jups were released the bitcoin price shot up to a grand? Not gonna happen this time, people can buy them from KNC still...why wouldn't they if they want one?

Anyone worked the running cost of a Nep out yet, given rough figures ? About 300 quid a month here if it's 2.5kw, or a BTC for 3 months mining roughly. I hope they get them out quick to those who are waiting.

Yes, I think the low end, efficient, window AC by Haier got bumped by $30-$50 after the summer.  Went looking the other day.

30 amps at 240v is 7kW. Six of them would be 43kW.  That's 40 btu per second - or 146,722 btu per hour.

A 'low end' window AC isn't going to do much.

You just need a lot of ventilation - replace hot air with air from outside, as long as it's less then 70C outside you'll be fine.

Yeah, I've got 14 x 220GH/s miners that eat 1kw each arriving soon. They come with 220v power supplies that would probably work on 120v outlets, but I don't want to risk it. I'm expecting them to heat my house (I'm in Michigan) until spring, but I'll probably have to get some ventilation as soon as it starts getting above freezing.

Unless you have a 6,000sq ft house I would expect that you're going to need some HVAC/open windows immediately upon receiving those. The most I can handle is about 8,000 watts in my house in the winter without it getting crazy hot (my house is 3200sq ft). I have a seperate building where my datacenter is to house excess machines that has plenty of cooling, but during the winter I don't keep more than 8kw of machinery in the house. Come end of Feb/March, I move everything into the climate controlled center.

Wow, I may have to do the same if it gets too hot. I only have 2 Neptunes on order and don't expect these Avalons to last long before they become unprofitable (July?), so hopefully the Neptunes don't have to share the space for long.

Those are about my dimensions, so expect similar results. Not over 8kw during the winter (and when it gets 40F outside like these warm spells expect temps of 80F+ in the house) inside, get a couple split ac's or a central air unit for the basement and you should be good for the summer.

I guess it is a 4VRM board...  just unplug the heatsink fan and watch the temp until ~83ish and see if it pops back on.. plug the fan back in at that temp regardless.. if you go over 85 or more you have a chance of knocking out another die (but usually that one will pop back up on a reboot)

if that doesnt work you can dig around with the tuning volts, etc etc etc but by now it doesn't really matter.  You are not going to get a lot back even if it comes on

I am starting to think about electrical wiring and cooling....so a little warning from KNC would be nice....but alas KNC does little talking instead opting for ALOT OF WALKING.....guess i prefer the walking and let all those others do the talking (a la hashnot, coinNevera, and alpha Yeah right)

yes i find that curious...maybe they just decided to pull the plug on that neptune batch ..they we're doing around 30 per day or some such ..then blamo maybe they planned to cut that batch of neptunes short and kick out some jupiters at the end of the month .....if so....(still think doubtful they will dump jupiters but anyway) ....i assume? that they will run about 3k imho...and then course to power supply etc around 3300 each.....my 555gh oct jupiter on slush shows .17btc a day 7 day ave and as of the last few days with dff rise it shows .135 or so...so if you figure by FEB 1st or so (if you could get them that fast) 0.10 btc a day on a 650gh unit at least...and by the end of the month (30 % rise per diff my best guess) so  by the end of the month .05btc...well if cointerra and bfl (2 months late) etc all dump about that time and the knc being early dumps out the Neptunes middle of march ...the Jupiters in the wild at the beg of feb or you get them the middle of feb....with that much hash hitting say in march/april...well imho you'd PROBABLY get ROI back ..but a lot of work to do so

may not be worth the hassle if i see that kinda price say and it shows up feb 15th...(again i'm just mucking and guessing in this post for the heck of it bear with me..the march is KNC's tendancy to over deliver early and the fact they say customer prefered first batch Q1 kinda thing)

again if i was running KNC they would HAVE TO BE under 2.5k I mean BFL is shipping monarchs and CLAIMING shipping begining of march for 600gh ..please......at 2.5k really yeah right!

but again if it was me and I ran KNC I'd DUMP the Jupiters I thought prudent number wise say 1000 or so ..at COST say $1,000 just to SLAP DOWN BFL and the rest that under deliver late etc....make a statement..KNC breaks even on the deal clears some of the air on these idiots and their claims and their next batch of neptunes at say 7.5k they would make up the differeance imho putting these clowns in their place.....and make the other guys in the future of bitcoin mining claims put up or shut up...

Now that is what I'd call a Network Protection Policy for my customers and my company......make everyone else rise to your level of customer service  etc.....clear the playing field of these clowns like BFL and Hashfast etc.....show again you can deliver....use some clout...more people would flock to Neptunes imho...it would be clear as glass...hard for the competitors to hide behind claims of crap/lies after such a statement by KNC imho
