Bitcoinorama promoted to director of KnC Miner

Alexander Lawn, director of KnCMiner responds:

Most crucially businesses to apply the transactional cost reduction to consumers. If you were told you could save 5% on every purchase made using Bitcoin as a payment means over the standard electronic payment means, which would you choose?
Congrats bro ;-)

Is this real? Grats!

Credit card companies make the business owner sign a document saying they will not make the transaction fee visible to the purchaser.
You can normally get a 2-3% discount by asking to use Debit Card because it's an electronic cheque with a fixed fee, about 15p in the UK.
The reason most people do not take American Express is because it's a 4-5% fee. They usually give 1% cash-back to the customer but it's the store who is funding it!

Okay, I just found out I won't be able to keep my Neptunes where I originally planned.  Do you guys know of any cheap hosting solutions??

what's the final word on change of address if I were to sell my preorder through ebay?

I just came to ask that exact question Grin

So will knc change neptune order over to someone else if I sell?

www.redstarmining.com - may be offering cheap US based hosting.  As they're being shipped to the US there's no sales or import duties.  Please leave any interest in this thread - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=383544.msg4125801#msg4125801

Just a warning to anyone that might be doing Bitcoin/Litecoin mining at home: Be careful of how much power you are pulling!

I had separated a 120Amp line for all my miners, and that was fine, but my electric meter panel was very old and couldn't handle the heat. The wire insulation melted, the wires shorted out, and caught on fire. Thank God it happened while everyone was awake. Luckily I had a fire extinguisher. Now I'll just be without power for 2-3 days n be out close to $5000 in repairs.

I just wanted to share my experience so maybe someone else can avoid a similar situation.

EDIT:

I own KNC gear, along with other miners. This situation was caused due to a lot of miners being run. I was just trying to be helpful so others do not fall into a similar situation.

DimensionsOfHell, your post is off-topic for this thread.  Please move it.

This is VERY relevant considering Neptunes are looking to pull 25 amps each minimum. Please be reasonable.

KNC has their own forum elsewhere, this has evolved into a KNC hangout where various topics come up from time to time. Moderation was needed thousands of pages ago, no longer.

Dimensions of Hell..   how long were you running it that way?

I just added 8 AntMiners 5 days ago. Everything worked fine for those five days because it was cold outside and we didn't need to use the a/c. As soon as it got hot in Miami again (which was last night), we started using our central a/c again. The a/c pushed it over the top. Our a/c apparently pulls about 60Amps (about 4500w). Around 11:30AM, when it really started to get hot out, that's when it caught on fire. I believe the stove might've been running too at the time.

My electric contractor said my house pulls somewhere around (very rough safe side estimates):

Stove: 50Amps (obviously not used all the time)
A/C: 60Amps
Washer/Dryer: 20Amp (obviously not used all the time)
TV/Other appliances: MAYBE 10 Amps

So it leaves roughly 60Amps for me for mining.

By my rough calculations (rounding everything up), I was using close to 70Amps.

I think it was related to how much heat that old meter could take..  seemed it cooked before the circuits would break

Shouldn't your mains have blown ...

It's as DPoS said... the meter it self burnt up from the heat, the line inside the house was perfectly fine to handle the power I was using.

I had a small time electrician separate a 120Amp line just so I can run the miners without any problems. I never thought the meter would'nt be able to handle the heat. My house is wired for 200Amps, and I was using (rounded up) 70Amps for my miners.

With those figures, it wouldn't be too safe for anyone with an old house to even run two Neptune's. Please have a Professional look at your panelings and everything before you guys decide to setup your Neptunes at home. Don't get some small time electrician like me.

Right now I'm having my Main Panel switched over to handle 225Amps just to be on the safe side.

It seems my house is so old, that a lot of the code has changed, so that's why its costing me close to $5k, cuz everything has to be brought up to code now. Since things need rewiring anyway, I figured I might as well upgrade the total amps, since it's only about $200-$300 more to the total cost. Anything higher than that would cost $2k-$3k more because they would have to cut up the floor to put in thicker cables.

You get the 'sign of the times' footnote as hobby miners pass the torch (literally)

Do Neptunes come with smoke detectors?

DPOS/Dimensions, Copy that, makes sense. For some reason I was reading it as 120amp maximum. Didn't sleep much lastnight, it shows haha.

I don't think so. On the video from Vegas, he was introduced as the director of communications...

Lol I replied as dir of comms to this guy and he's abbreiviated it sans comms, and credit to Sam to the response to that specific q, as I bounced it off of him. The prev response w.r.t. government regs was my ans, as was the future price Q. Not sure how you can answer the latter and pull a specific figure from the air, would rather stay optimistic w.r.t. future BTC price though. Wink

Will say the vibe in Miami was very positive, there was a lot more innovation in services present which I was happy to see. Bitcoin needs this.

That was a wink smiley !

In the "a fat lazy male figure that sits on his computor all day with no breaks -that crocker is way to lazy" type crocker? Or some other colloquialism?
