My R PI cannot seem to run for more that 24 hours without freezing. It's running the https://github.com/vthoang/cgminer miner. Once it crashes, I obviously cannot ssh into it. I just cycle the power on it and restart the miner program. It's kind of annoying.

I find the thermal sink to be warmer than usual. I have tried a fresh install with a nicer SD card, but it didn't help. I also run BFG miner running moonlanders which has never crashed in the weeks I've been running it. Are there other miner programs I could use to run Gekko 2Pacs? Any other ideas to improve the stability would be much appreciated. I have dealt with USB power issues, but I don't think that would cause the RPI to lock up.

So when they forked Litecoin, did they also change the algorithm from SHA256 to Scrypt?

Yes - LCC is SHA and it's a scam so careful with it.

That is weird. If you have latest pulls on both the PI operating system, and CGminer vthoang it should be fine. I have 18 running on an Eyeboot and they have been running for 2 weeks without an issue at 200 freq (have two artic fans on them). Make sure you read above on the syntax for the --gekko.

I would also be careful trying to run Moonlanders and 2pacs on the same machine. Certainly doesn't work on Mac as the Moonlander workaround for drivers makes it impossible to run 2Pacs on same machine. I suspect you might be having some USB driver incompatibilities if you tried to download both drivers on the same Pi - that's a guess. I have mine running on separate Pi's.

The maximum port charge possible is 1.5 amps depending on power supply used.

1.5 A is not enough current for one stick @250 MHz. I don´t know what "depending on power supply used" means. I would buy another one. Make sure there is no limitation on the current per port. In my experience you need about 3 A per stick @250 MHz.

I'd say it's good enough. 60A across 15x sticks makes 4A per stick, more than enough for 250MHz. I use that exact setup for batch-testing sticks before shipping out. We run 'em at 100MHz, but the hub is solid. The only issue you're going to run into is voltage loss in the cable, so you'll want to shorten that if possible and probably adjust the supply voltage up to 5.5V or so to compensate.

I have the black version of the 49 port Eyeboot, primarily because it's not orange. It will run on 110 or 220V and the black one has power supply built in. I have 18 sticks running on it (at 200) along with 2 arctic fans. It runs like a charm - not a single hiccup in two weeks. They are great hubs, not cheap but really solid and plenty of power/port.

I have not run the power consumption numbers vs my Antminer S9's. I am getting close to 500 Ghz on the 2Pac rig. Some bizarre internal side of me wants to see if I can get it to 1Thz. Certainly not a practical project from a cost perspective. My wife likes the blinking lights so I have that going for me, and they are so quiet compared to AM. Have 12 of those running and it is NOT quite . Think I just found myself a weekend project to see how much power in consumes per Thz. I certainly know the Antminers pull 1350W for between 13.5 and 14 Thz. I think they pull about 1.5 amps at 200 so not going to take long to do the math but want to actually test the circuit.

It can run at least 18 at 200 freq as that's my current config - 60 amps is a lot and this isn't limited by the PSU/cable like many other hubs. You're getting all 60w delivered to the ports. Run it at 220V if you can - more efficient (but not required).

They are not the same, one is 40 amps, 1 amp per port

the other is 60 amps 1.5 amps per port

I would do the 60 and you can always upgrade the psu I think since its external.
