Can someone use p2pool to solo mine and merge mine at the same time?

So mainly is there an option to turn btc solo mining on?

If not - would mainly mine other coin e.g. IXC and merge mine BTC offer the same result?

Buy me a beer: 1mrdfyA1GhKmTPhaSkvyq5DBterQ5m7ZK

Run your own P2Pool with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and merge mining

I imagine you could... you'd have to hack the code a bit (there's a guide on how to do it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=512042.0.  Then you'd just start up p2pool as you normally would for merged mining.  Remember, though, since merged mining is solo mining, you're now solo mining everything.  Maybe you get lucky and hit the lottery by generating the BTC block.

You could also use an earlier version ... that'd essentially put you on a different chain, so you'd be solo mining.

Yes you can merge mine any mergeable coin without affecting your BTC mining.

I guess i didn't make it clear Tongue

My target is solo mine BTC.

So I use p2pool to MAINLY mine IXC and then merge mine (if you merge mine with p2pool you actually solo mine) BTC,NMC,FTC etc..

BTC is not merge-mineable.

As BTC has the highest difficulty of any coin you will mine, if you want to mine BTC + any other coin the difficulty will need to match BTC, and when matching BTC will match any merged coin with a lower difficulty....

So your saying that all accepted shares will be submitted to every coin? I thought only shares that met the BTC block criteria were submitted to merged coins?

BTC is the master coin, if you want to merge mine other coins (IXC, I0C, NMC, GRP, DEV, HUC & FSC) then you are effectively solo mining those coins. BTC is not affected in any way and is mined as normal.

All submitted shares are tried on every coin you're mining.  It is the beauty of merged mining.  What might not solve your BTC block may very well solve some other coin.  That's how I've been donating FSC.  I merge mine it with IXC, NMC, DVC, etc.  the difficulty of FSC was obscenely low so I was finding over 100 blocks a day.

so username would be address/0+230
cool I will try that
I am actually averaging 963ghs with my S2 on p2pool @ 110% efficiency over 3 days and I was averaging 1003ghs on ghash.io

yuip, that's for an s1, your s2 would have a different figure. 963 isn't too bad, when you have 1th/s 40gh/s isn't much but it's 40gh/s you would otherwise have generating coin.

Have not updated the cgminer on S1 form Kano yet but when I added back my S1 to the node. I went from 0 orphans and 0 dead shares to 5 and 1 after adding the S1. Could the S1 actually be causing an issue on my node? address/0+197.2 is what I am using for S1.

Also what hash rate should I trust what I see on antminer status page or what I see on the node? very different.

Thanks

the one on the ant should e more accurate since it's displaying the cgminer stats. if you look on my node you will see the rate of an s1 with the updated cgminer and running on a local network to the node.

www.norgzpool.net.au/graphs (the s1 is mining on the 1minerxxxx address Wink

EDIT: the s1 is clocked at 393 so hashing at just over 200gh/s and the spike you see in the middle was some rented hashing. if you look at last hour it averages at 215gh/s with around 11gh/s stale/rejected
