Has anyone personally seen/spoken with Steamboat in the last two weeks?  Does anyone have contact information or know his physical location?

Chad

Unacceptable has phone and address as he helped put heatsinks on units.

It ain't over by any means  Grin

Steamboat gave me a unit to play with,it has an older version of firmware, but it works really well  Wink

Error rates are kinda high, but he said he should get em down VERY soon,he's working with Kano & a few others to get the rates down ASAP   Cool  I'm also useing an outdated version of CGminer  Roll Eyes

This firmware version runs better in Ubuntu, which for me was a real challenge,I'm a software noob  Sad But I figured it out after about 4-6 hrs, over 3 evenings,I said I was a noob  Cheesy

I'll be helping setup his hosting center on Monday,so be ready for emails & updates again,VERY soon  Wink

Hang in there guys,he is moving forward!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again to Y I FU!!!!!!!! May he rot in hell  Angry

Thank you Unnaceptable, that is very good news.

Again, the situation was not ideal, thanks to Yifu (the flake), but hopefully we will get the miners very soon.

I would have rather started mining at 80 mil difficulty, but at this point, I'll take what I can get.

Thank you for the update. I'm sure Steamboat is very busy.

Yeppers  Wink   Yes,1 lone K-16   Cry   But with the error rates its more like 4-4.5GH.

I got to take it back later to update to the newer firmware, but all 16 chips are hashing away  Cool

Need to get a Kill-a-watt meter,to measure power consumption.I think 25-35 watts was estimated..................

Steamboat has been doin many sleepless nights getting these going  Sad  Hang in there Steamboat !!!!!!!!!!!!!  Cheesy

16 Sept., I asked for 904 chips refund, got 450 yesterday 17 Oct.).

I still have no info regarding the potential refund for the hosted miners. I don' know whether anyone is mining with them ATM. From the info SB is (not) releasing, I assume he's still testing.

Thanks for the update. So I guess this means the bootloader is a bust or these would be shipping already? The error rate doesn't seem to have changed since over a month ago, safe to assume hardware issue at this point? What are the new versions of cgminer giving?

How can writing a bootloader be so hard?  Or is there no room for it?  I thought that PIC had a lot of program space.

Considering the wait time for a bootloader it may be smarter to ship them as is, with maybe a cheap 10 dollar pic programmer so we can do it ourselves

The board already has ICSP wired in so really you just need a serial port programmer made up to fit.

Yeah, plenty of bootloader code out there for the PIC16's if you're willing to go the serial cable route. I have yet to see any working USB bootloaders for the PIC16 series. Plenty for the PIC18 series...

You are probably right that shipping without waiting for a USB bootloader may be wise. Keep in mind that updating firmware with a PIC programmer and USB to serial cable isn't something all consumers of the board will be capable of though.

I'm very surprised we're still talking about hosting.  BTCguild was at about 35TH/s when I ordered my K16s, it is now over 750TH/s.

He's still workin on the bootloader,I have no idea how far along its development is,kinda hinted he was really close though  Wink

I have not tried newer versions of CGminer yet, gonna do that this weekend & I'll post pics of the results.

My camera is kinda old on the video resolution, but here it is mining away  Cool  The fans I have cooling the front off are whining, not the K16 fan  Roll Eyes

Here are pics of the K16 miners:

Looks like mass production is happening.
I asked SB to send my miners as is, with out bootloader code because I have a PicKit3.
Also bootloader code for the PIC16 chip will take a lot of time to develop.
I wish this design used a PIC18 it would have made things easer.
I wonder how hard it would be to port over to a PIC18 chip.
