Thanks nwoolls.  It's been a fun couple of days.  My primary mining PC went down Tuesday night due to some thunderstorms, and I won't have a new motherboard until Saturday or Monday, so I'm exploring less desirable options.  Combined with the fact that I just ordered my first 3 5-chip gridseeds, I'm trying to have a solution quickly.  I'm trying minepeon now, and I'll see if I can get it to work.  Going to be fun though.  I don't have a Linux box.  I may have to VM it if I need to do some work on the file system.

I used to run the mining ops off an Atom D525 box that I built for ~$100.  I use it because it uses next to no power.  Replacing it with another Atom board.
It's just for monitoring, stratum proxies, and running my U2s.

nwoolls, I fired up minepeon on this, and now I'm having trouble with some outdated instructions pertaining to your BFGminer fork.  

I'm running the command:

I get an error that it cant find this branch.  I don't see this branch in the current list either.  What's the correct branch that I should be using?

For the Raspberry Pi you'll want the scanhash-loop branch.

Have you considered adding a more robust output window for miners? The API monitor doesn't seem to output any sort of meaningful text when compared to actual outputs for normal miners. I know you can go through the log file, but that's not the same as watching it in real time and having a stat window for overall output, unless it's buried in here somewhere.

That's odd. It shows in the dropdown, without you having to add it, and it uses Scrypt? Do you have CoinChoose or CoinWarz as your Coin API?

AFAIK CoinChoose doesn't have Vertcoin and CoinWarz returns it as Scrypt-N.

If you are adding the Vertoin configuration yourself (by typing it in), make sure you select the proper algorithm for it.

I'll test out the alpha on a computer for a bit to see how it works.

Make sure you grab Vertminer 0.5.3 from somewhere and toss that in Miners\Vertminer - it seems to work much better than 0.5.2.

Yeah I saw the configuration pane on the right side, but it's a pane to use. In general looking for errors being spit out and updates from the pools while mining. Basically all the information you use to diagnose a miner when it's not working properly. As it is right now, when something isn't working right I go back and use the miners themselves without MM in order to read the display. It's much more robust. If there was a verbose output that'd be great. Also a option to show columns all the time, rather then just when they have information (it makes looking over it all the time much easier).

So I think the problem is maybe CoinChoose had Vertcoin at one point in the past and it got cached in your settings. It sounds like the coin definition for Vertcoin in your KnowCoinsCache.xml has it flagged as Scrypt. Do you mind checking that for me? If it says Scrypt in there, then that is the problem. Try deleting that file and reopening MultiMiner.

If you have time I appreciate it - would like to make sure that's all set before 3.0 is out.

Is there something more specific? Unfortunately I can't just dump all the output due to limitations of the way the console is hidden along with making things work on multiple platforms. If you do have trouble with a miner, you can stop mining and then locate the entry in Process Log, right-click and click Launch. This will start mining in BFGMiner alone so you can see the output.

This is probably a vert miner problem, but 0.5.3 actually ends up giving me far worse hashrates on some of my cards for some reason. I think this is why it's not readily available all over (you sorta have to dig to find it).

Back to the same scenario I had a few months ago. I need a -g command for different GPUs on the same computer, but the miner (vertminer is based on cgminer) doesn't allow this so I can't run MM on these computers. Please consider adding the ability to run more then one instance of miners in the background. Other miner forks are also based off CGminer which still has some issues like this, being unable to run BFGminer prevents fixes for this.

Please also considering allowing MM to pass commands to the miners to restart individual GPUs for hangs, rather then restarting the whole miners. When some GPUs hang, they can be restarted without restarting the client. Also setting thresholds of when to 'giveup' after restarting the miner in a certain amount of time and temporarily disable the GPU before restarting work and alerting the user in some form.

Also consider a more user friendly way of allowing users to remap OCL connections to miners. They don't always coordinate with their on screen values (different stats for different GPUs, like temperature and fan speed). You can do this manually with command line parameters, but it's a huge chore...

Another feature that would be great for mobile miner and the mobile chrome app is temperature stats right on the front of each miner. Perhaps ordered in a tight minimal grid.

If I understand you correctly, you need the ability to pass in individual -g arguments for multiple devices. BFGMiner supports this now using commas. AFAIK any of the SGMiner-based miners also support this. (Sorry if I am repeating what you know, just trying to clarify). So the only issue I suppose may be with, as you say, versions based on older CGMiner forks.

I will look into that in the future. Can you please take a look at the new version I am posting (right after this) and then tell me if this is still an issue? It contains support for several new miners which may allow you to make use of more advanced arguments so you can do this without launching additional processes.

This is something on my to-do list. There are several things I could be doing via the API rather than restarting and I do plan on addressing this.

Okay friends, a new preview of MultiMiner v3.0 is now available here.

This release includes fixes for the multi-algorithm and multi-proxy support added previously. It also includes several new features:

• It is now possible to mix-and-match GPU algorithms with individual miners

I finally got around to testing one of the features Luke-Jr added for BFGMiner 4.0 and man - this is pretty sweet.

If you are using BFGMiner 3.99, you can grab any Scrypt compatible kernels and drop them in the opencl sub-folder. Then you can use the kernel via the Scrypt argument, e.g.:

I tried out this kernel that is getting some good press and got pretty significant boost using the following arguments:

This bumped my GPU rig up from ~2.66 Mh/s to ~2.82 Mh/s.

Edit: for you two getting an HTTP error 400, is your PC date correct? I thought maybe this was locale/culture specific since you are both running non-English setups, but I don't see anything obvious (yet).
