Option 1:

10 windows or linux boxes with 100 gridseed units (per box) running just BFGminer 4.0 that connect to multiminer (stratum proxy for switching coin pools) on the LAN but then I loose some MultiMiner features like rebooting failed devices/alerts right?

I don't think this will work without additional development. Currently (to my knowledge) the Stratum Proxy in BFGMiner doesn't work with Scrypt mining.

Option 2:

10 windows boxes running MultiMiner with 100 gridseed units (per box) running MultiMiner (with bfgminer 4.0) that connect through a MultiMiner proxy box (for switching coin pools) on the LAN so I will have the alerts and be able to switch all boxes to different pools at once. BUT with this option, the there may be inefficiencies in how MultiMiner/MobileMiner is setup.

If you go this route you do not need to use MultiMiner as a Stratum Proxy. You can enable MultiMiner Remoting (under Perks) and then you will see every other MultiMiner rig from any other rig. You can then control them from anywhere and you can switch pools on all of them from any single rig.

MultiMiner Remoting features / screens:

Oh also, in order to find other devices on the network (other multiminer instances) does "Permitted IPs"  in advanced Miner Settings need to include the Primary/Central MultiMiner box IP?

Lastly, do I need to add any Arguments for Scrypt in that same menu (if I want to run the miners at 850 overclock)?

Thanks!

No they just need to be on the same network subnet with the same Windows workgroup name and the same (if any) password under the Remoting settings.

Lastly, do I need to add any Arguments for Scrypt in that same menu (if I want to run the miners at 850 overclock)?

This should do it:

Code:
--set-device gridseed:clock=850

Added support for the MobileMiner Pools API, allowing switching coins from smart phones and browsers

Has this been released to the App Store and/or included in the html5 web app?

Cool feature!

MultiMiner 2.8 is now officially available with the following features and improvements:

  • Official support for 1-chip and 5-chip GridSeed ASICs (requires BFGMiner 4.0)

Does this mean it won't work for Mac? I tried pulling your latest BFG with homebrew, but it tells me I'm already at 3.10[/list]

Correct, though there are projects to aid in compiling BFGMiner for OS X:

https://github.com/nwoolls/xgminer-osx

However if you are not familiar with Git and the command line I'd recommend waiting for BFGMiner 4.0.

So I downloaded lastest MultiMiner, downloaded the drivers you posted earlier from here https://www.dropbox.com/s/w06b7nj1f07lv29/Windows_ASIC_CDC_Drivers.zip and downloaded the bfgminer PR you posted as well and renamed the bfgminer folder in \Users\user\AppData\Local\MultiMiner\Miners\ to bfgminer_old. I took the PR 4.0 of bfgminer and copied to this location \Users\user\AppData\Local\MultiMiner\Miners\ and restarted MultiMiner.

I plugged in a gridseed 5-chip device and showed up in Device Manager as STM32 etc.. (so I could tell it was connected). I hit scan hardware in MultiMiner and no devices were found. Rebooted MultiMiner and still nothing. Tried to "Update driver" of the gridseed 5-chip in device manager with the .inf in GridSeed folder of drivers in your download link and windows said the best drivers for the device were already installed.

Did I miss a step or not do this right at all?

Thanks for any help.

I may have to Disable Driver Signature Verification on 64-Bit Windows 8. going to try that now.

It would still definitely be nice for a -g option for multiple GPUs, as I still can't use MM with a graphics card setup that requires more then one -g setting. It would definitely be nice if MM launched multiple instances of BFGminer instead of lumping it all on one BFGminer. That way you can set settings directly on the devices for thread concurrency and such instead of inputting it in the custom parameters for the overall run.

It'd also be nice if this happened for the purpose of recovery. If one of the GPUs is having problems, MM will restart BFGminer for all miners attached to it and doing so will result in the hash rate being practically non-existent for the working GPUs.

It's in BFGMiner 4.0. If you are running one of the pre-releases (linked in this thread) the option is there.

Link to the prerelease please?

Is there any reason MM doesn't use more then one instance of BFGminer? It'd still be useful for things like recovery from finicky graphics cards with restart suspect miners.

Hi
First of thanks for creating this usefull mining software  Smiley

I can't seem to figure out though how I'm suppost to give each of my graphics cards individually different parameters (thread concurrency, intensity etc.) because I run a couple of different AMD gpu's  Huh

Any help would be great  Cheesy
Thanks in advance!

Actually hit some type of usb limit or something on windows that I didn't hit in linux (ubuntu). I can get 100 devices on ubuntu but only 48 on windows. very strange.

This brings up the question. Will the ubuntu version of multiminer work with gridseed 5 chip devices yet? I guess if bfgminer can be installed then yes but what about the drivers and how would bfgminer be installed if it isn't released yet?

Thanks!

I believe Windows has a 256 USB limit 7 levels deep. Do you have a bunch of USB hubs in series? Try rearranging them more in parallel.

Yes but if I use that it applies it to all my gpus at once, problem is I have 2 r9 280x's and 2 of the 7950's and they each need different parameters.
I tried ticking a gpu or highlighting it and then changing it but it still changes all gpu settings at once  Huh  Undecided

As usual, I spoke too soon, still getting double-crashes (both MultiMiner and BFGMiner at the same time).  Doesn't appear to just be a BFGminer issue.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

What's weird is that same exact setup (with 96) works fine in Ubuntu.

I can plug 48 into windows and then #49 shows an exclamation point next to it in device manager. If I keep plugging in devices after 48, they get an exclamation point in device manager.

I don't have that folder.  I downgraded to 2.4, and it's not crashing in 2.4 - just the newer versions - such as 2.7.7.  Doesn't seem to be a BFGminer issue.

That reply was to a different user.

It's not a MultiMiner issue if BFGMiner is crashing - that's a BFGMiner issue. 2.7.7 is probably passing in different arguments than 2.4. Try doing some trial-and-error (using the Process Log) to figure out which argument is causing the error and report that to the BFGMiner thread. Thanks!

It's just simpler to use 2.4 and hope it's fixed in the new BFGMiner update that they're working on.

I was experiencing crashes after a few hours with 2.7.5 -> 2.7.7 on windows 7
I downgraded my .Net install from version 4.5.1 to 4.5 and it's stable now.
hope this helps.

Downgrading from 4.5.1 to 4.5 seems to have resolved my crashing issue.  Prior to the downgrade I actually had both MuM and BFG crash on me.  Thanks.

As usual, I spoke too soon, still getting double-crashes (both MultiMiner and BFGMiner at the same time).  Doesn't appear to just be a BFGminer issue.

The crashes seem to occur only when switching coins automatically, but it's pretty much every time.  I've been mining MazaCoin recently.  Might have something to do with it?
