Is it weird that I'm a 30 year old professional that is reading posts from you guys in the top 50 like you're rock stars? Society tells me yes, I say no. Its great to hear what you guys are running and the issues you're coming up against.
Keep bringing the heat!!!

If you've got posters of them on your wall and are mooning over them like a teen girl with a boy band, then yes, it's weird, get help

New to Bitminter and have a question , hopefully I am missing something Why does it take so long Bitminter to staring mining a BTC block after its done with the last one.. It seems that all of the Minning power is going towards NMC ..... The below screen shot shows that for about 6 hrs atleast no work was done on a BTC block after Block 293373 was confirmed.. what am I missing http://imageshack.com/a/img62/9189/i989.jpg

We are always mining for BTC. We never stop mining.

No "work" is done specifically for NMC, but sometimes "work" done for BTC will solve an NMC block.

yep. think of a guy with a shovel. (bitminter is the guy) when he bends down a picks up a shovel of dirt he tosses it in a sorter. the sorter picks out BTC and NMC since the dirt has more namecoins then bitcoins we find name coins a little faster.
our shovel can lift about 550th of dirt at a time.
all the shovels of all the guys looking are combined to do 45000 th of dirt. So our shoveler (bitminter) has about 550/45000 of the entire pool

Did namecoin even have a block halving yet? ... meaning we might be getting 50 coins per block for NMC whereas we get 25 for BTC
Also we are "merge mining" namecoin, which means we get it as a "bonus" for the hashing we do on BTC, but only maybe 80% of bitcoin network is merge mining it, so difficulty is a little lower.

That is why I came to bitminter from slush's pool, I seem to have better luck here, plus I like the merged mining....Lately I have retasked some of my lower hash USB erupters (the 333's) to mine PPC coin. Last night I put the cube on for the first time, it was glorius, until I realized that my cube was drawing waaay too much power through the PCI 6 pin and PCI 6/8 pin...so I had to shut it down until I get an 8 pin to 6 pin adapter today...I didn't want to risk a fire by drawing too many amps volts and watts through some thin wire....luckily though I have a power supply that caught it before I did and shut down....(whew)....once I get some more BTC I will expand my mining farm a little, but I have to save my bit pennies up first...(maybe by this fall I will have enough to get some of the latest and greatest hardware...).. Peace!

Just got my second Ant S1 working. As soon as I have the wireless antennas they will work outside for me (On a covered balcony, behind a sunshield and under a moscitonet)

Namecoin pays 50 coins per block solved. The work provided to find a Bitcoin block will also find a Namecoin block. Since difficulty for Namecoin is lower, it's possible to find more Namecoin blocks thanks Bitcoin blocks.

LMAO I've just spilt my tea Phil . Yep it was a long block but Eligius where I just moved from has had just as much if not more bad luck and also for around 3 weeks it has had constant DDoS attacks. This has caused the pool hashrate to drop and nodes be shed making miners re connect. Overall Biminter is quite stable and the higher variance means we can have a real good luck run, where as Eligius is always pretty constant with not many nice surprises.

Yah, soon would be nice, seems to me we're wandering away from that yellow line a bit ... https://bitminter.com/stats/rewards yeah bitminter is just a bit more fun then it used to be due to variance factors. We should grab a block every 11 1/2 hours. Around 2.1 blocks a day On the downside cold streaks mean 30-50 hours without a block. On the upside 3 blocks in a day is about +45% and a 4 block day is double your money. So I mine around 20 days in a row at btcguild. Then I come here for 5 or 6 days to test my 'variance'. With 1.1th a 4 block day means about .2 btc vs .11btc for normal luck. I know most say stay in one pool but I get bored thus the switching.

I have recently decided to try mining at bitminter with one of my 1th machines and I feel like I am not receiving as much as at elgius..so I am not sure if I just need to be more patient or leave.

Tried out Bitminter for a week or so, but it took to long to solve blocks. The rewards were nice (double Slush's), but I grew impatient when it took over 12 hours to solve a block. I found Slush's pool better for daily gratification. There is always at least one block going through the 120 confirmation cycle, which amounts to the proverbial carrot at the end of the stick. I got impatient cause there was no carrot at Bitminter.

The carrot is the same with all pools. It's just a little further ahead of you with small pools.
