If DrHaribo has not added AntMiner U1 support than it is likely that you are not getting full performance. My guess would be that about 33% of the shares are errors. The AntMiner U1 is recognized as a Block Erupter (Icarus device) but has small but important differences that must be taken into account to avoid errors.

Thank you.

I uninstalled the drivers as per the directions found at --
http://edvoncken.net/2011/11/uninstalling-the-silicon-labs-cp210x-usb-to-serial-driver/

and I'll keep researching other options to get my U1 Antminer mining.  I have access to lots of PCs I just wanted to do it on my Macbook.

Hey Chopstick,

In my search of solutions to the almost the same issue than you for the U1, I found a nice little app from Karin on this same forum.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=214268.msg2755592#msg2755592
It allows to activate or deactivate those drivers without needing to uninstall or reinstall them.
It's working for me for now on...

You are correct - that is indeed a great tool for turning the VCOM drivers on and off.

However, the AntMiner U1 is still not going to work right until there is proper support written. All of those invalid nonce errors are because there is no proper support yet. About 36% of the hardware performance is being wasted.

I agree... Some genius programer are needed around here  Wink
I haven't been able to get the U1 to be working properly. I tried all the windows and MacOs tutorial I could find and the only stable solution I found is to use the hardware at a lower rate under Mac with cgminer for mac (http://spaceman.ca/cgminer)

I hope Kerry will find a way to support the U1 in the next release of cg-miner for mac or Asteroid...

We're on an unlucky round right now.

You get paid when blocks are found. Sometimes it takes a while to find the next one.

No immediate plans for this, sorry. Will have a look at it if I have time when things are less hectic.

Although this is off-topic (because the topic is the BitMinter client and I'm recommending NOT using the BitMinter client for U1 Antminers)... it still pertains directly to using the BitMinter pool.

For those interested in using their Macs with the U1 Antminer 1.6 GH/s I just thought I'd share that setting up on my Windows machine allowed me to easily start hashing at 2.0 GH/s on the BitMinter pool.  I tried 2.2 GH/s but it got a substantial amount of Hardware Errors.

Anyways, just sharing that no matter what I did, no matter what app I ran, no matter what drivers were enabled, disabled, etc.  the Macintosh was the limiting factor for me.  I'm an IT guy so I kept playing around having fun and seeing what I could do on the Mac; not wanting to admit that the Mac itself was the limiting factor in the equation.

Considering the difficulty level increases today... the time I spent dicking around with the Mac vs. just slapping into my Windows machine ended up costing a wee bit in terms of mining.  So I'll happily run it on my Windows machine at 2.0 GH/s and maximize what I can from the little USB stick that could.  I should have just slapped in into the Windows or Linux box from the beginning, eh?

On Windows 7 using: CGIminer (cgminer-run-windows-20131224.zip), the 64 bit drivers (CP210x_VCP_Windows), and zadig_v2.0.1.162.exe to reinstall the modded drivers.

My command line to run at 2.0 GH/s --
cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:20 -o stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333 -u YOURuserNAME_YOURminerNAME -p 123 --bmsc-freq 0981

I just got my 6 ants working... mostly...  What a pain!  Makes you really appreciate the bitminter client!  You are the man Doc!  Since bitminter is the only client I ever got to work (I'm new to this) it took me a while to get things going.

Here are a few things I learned for any other newbies out there:

Make sure you have the right version of cgminer, not just any version will work I think this is the one I finally got that worked:

https://github.com/AntMiner/AntGen1/tree/master/cgminer

Chopstick's start command was the last piece I needed to get everything to finally work:

cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:20 -o stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333 -u YOURuserNAME_YOURminerNAME -p 123 --bmsc-freq 0981

Thanks Chopstick!

So now my 6 sticks are working!  For a while at least... Angry   Everything works great for a while... then they start to slow down... eventually they stop.   I can get them back up an running again by simply unplugging and re-plugging them in one at a time.  but obviously that's not a good solution.  I really don't want to wake up every hour or so all night to get them working again.  Anyone have any ideas?  could it be that they aren't getting enough power?  My good powered USB hub isn't here yet so I have them just plugged into different usb connectors on my motherboard.  I haven't been able to get them to recognize in a USB 3 slot, but I have lots of USB 2s so I have them spread around so they aren't packed together and have fans on them.

Can't wait until you get these integrated in the bitminter client Doc!   Grin

I definitely think it is related to the power.  Six U1 Antminers should definitely be on a powered hub, in my opinion.

Or place them in different computers if you have another computer available.

Yeah, I scrounged a few cheap powered hubs up and things seem to be better with them plugged into those.  I still get some zombies eventually, but they are definitely running much better.  I have a good high power hub ordered so I'm hoping that will fix the last of my issues.  I seem to be OK with 2 plugged into the cheap hubs, but if I plug in the third performance starts to drop, and the 3rd one plugged in doesn't ramp up to full speed for a while.  for a while they all run fine, then slowly the speed drops an eventually I get a zombie.  If I don't see it right away I start getting more zombies.  I tried plugging one into my main computer, the other is just mining, but I get a dll missing error with cgminer.  I really need to do a full windows re-install on my main computer, but I keep putting it off because I use it too much and don't want to mess with the downtime.  Been really busy lately.  I might stick one or 2 on my wife's PC instead.  But my hub should be here tomorrow, so I hope that fixes the issue.

Thank you for the fast reply to my earlier questions in the newbie section. When I tried to go back and post a reply, the option for "reply" was gone. I'm assuming I can't post in the newbie section anymore after only one post? Strange.

I tried your suggestion of using bfgminer, and I am still not getting the full hash rate. At least my speed went from .72Ghs to 1.44Ghs, but its still not in the 2.6 range where I think it should be. The bitminter site interface(live statistics) is now synced with what bfgminer is reporting, and I am at 0% rejected. Here is a screen shot of terminal running bfgminer. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8xnHjfkTh1rQzVKNzRNUlVqcHc/edit?usp=sharinghttps://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8xnHjfkTh1rQzVKNzRNUlVqcHc/edit?usp=sharing.

One weird thing I noticed. When using bfgminer, my BF1 has a solid red flashing LED. When using Bitminter client, the LED blinks Red to Yellow. Anyone know what the significance of this is? Maybe it could help troubleshoot.

Posting more should still work.

That's interesting. Does anyone know what the colors and blinking means? I've never seen any technical info on this device. I looked at the bfgminer source code to try and find out how it works. Tongue

Some have issues getting it detected by Bitminter client, and some have problems with reduced hashrate. Hopefully I will be able to fix this in the future. For now, please use bfgminer instead (link on front page of bitminter.com).

Red Fury is very sensitive and often gets stuck in a non-working state, even with bfgminer. You may be able to recover with the reset button on the device, or you may have to unplug it and plug it back in the USB port again to wake it up.
