Yeah, but that's still one thread too many. What if I've only got a single core processor? You're adding unnecessary bloat to cpu mining. And creating an arms race for cpu mining this algorithm instead of contributing towards boinc.

Right now everything is under discussion so we have not finalized anything. I would say at this point security is going to be first priority from now on.

Alright, so what will this algorithm determine? Whether or not my boinc points get rewarded? That's hardly fair to the lower power cpu miners.

CPU mining will be back and stronger than ever, I had several rigs CPU mining and I was really enjoying it, once we get a bullet proof security on it we will be kicking ass again.

Guess it is better than no cpumining

I hope you guys understand that it may not be possible to have 100% boinc cpu mining because security is the issue then. As we saw some f*ckers came and used it to exploit 0.5M grc. I know that Rob would also want to have 100% of cpu time towards boinc but it may not be possible. As Rob said it could be possible to use 1 thread with about 10% processor time to calculate algo. So with 1-core processor you would still have 90% for boinc.

I had a graphic designer create this Infographic for Gridocoin. You can use this freely and post it on reddit or other forums to showcase what Gridcoin is all about.

Very nice - lots of work building that!

Suggestions for next draft: "protein" is spelled incorrectly in at least three places, the acronym "BOINC" appears incorrectly in various forms, for example sometimes all lower case and sometimes with just the "B" capitalized.

I realize the gridcoin.conf blurb is copied directly from the first page of this thread, but I don't think it is correct as written - (PORTS stuff). I posted about this earlier, but no replies yet, so perhaps I'm mistaken.

When/where can we buy coffee mugs and t-shirts with the new coin logo? Do they take crypto?           Wink

...That's hardly fair to the lower power cpu miners.

So are you proposing a system where no matter how much power, time, money etc. a user puts down they will get a same reward?
Hardly seems fair to me.

There seems to be an imminent hard fork in the development of gridcoin the developers are talking about making cpu mining also calculate a cpu only algorithm diverting users processors away from boinc Sad

You might want to get your facts straight and read a little before you start criticising every step of the development process.

Don't get me wrong a constructive critic is welcome, but that's not what you're doing most of the time, imho.

Sorry man, i just panic easily.

How about a good idea from me for a change?

How about somone takes the open source code from this http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/02/28/htc-posts-full-source-code-for-power-to-give-app-and-associated-boinc-server/ and makes an android cpu miner with a built in wallet?

This would instantly make GRC one of the main cryptocurrencies out there.

Yeah, how about this? Large quantities of ARM hashing devices Smiley

We're talking about a potential cpu mining user base of several million android miners easily.
Not only will it push gridcoin to the number 1 spot in the team rankings, but it would also act as the wallet for users to trade on the go.

Replicating current android cryptocurrency wallet functionality (qr code scanning for transactions, and encryption/backup of wallet.dat/private keys) alongside extending the power to give app with gridcoin reward.

I've actually put a 1.5btc bounty against this. See the following /r/gridcoin thread:
