That is a great idea man. I hope someone is willing to do this.

There seems to be an imminent hard fork in the development of gridcoin the developers are talking about making cpu mining also calculate a cpu only algorithm diverting users processors away from boinc Sad

You might want to get your facts straight and read a little before you start criticising every step of the development process.

Don't get me wrong a constructive critic is welcome, but that's not what you're doing most of the time, imho.

Andrew.

Sorry man, i just panic easily.

How about a good idea from me for a change?

How about somone takes the open source code from this http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/02/28/htc-posts-full-source-code-for-power-to-give-app-and-associated-boinc-server/ and makes an android cpu miner with a built in wallet?

This would instantly make GRC one of the main cryptocurrencies out there.

Yeah, how about this? Large quantities of ARM hashing devices Smiley

We're talking about a potential cpu mining user base of several million android miners easily.
Not only will it push gridcoin to the number 1 spot in the team rankings, but it would also act as the wallet for users to trade on the go.

Replicating current android cryptocurrency wallet functionality (qr code scanning for transactions, and encryption/backup of wallet.dat/private keys) alongside extending the power to give app with gridcoin reward.

I've actually put a 1.5btc bounty against this. See the following /r/gridcoin thread:

http://www.reddit.com/r/gridcoin/comments/1zca5n/gridcoin_bounties/

edit: further relevant info.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Thanks, man!
If you are willing to maintain it, why not open a btc depot for people to donate funds to.
Everyone in favor of this effort could then increase the bounty!
Reddit board might even manage a backlog of funding goals,
with 1 primary funding pool which features one project at a given time.
When the most wanted goal has received funding, rob? board? btc-vote? decides on the next.
jiust saying.

That's cool, just as an FYI, we ADDED a command to the already existing commands and renamed an existing command.

I will put the original commands back the way they were, but its not going to be tonight or tomorrow, so take it easy for a while and Ill let you know when its working.

Thanks!

Rob H.

Still waiting on that. Without it - it's not on AllCrypt and I'm not sure how it can be running on any other exchange either.

Is there a way to figure out the average block reward from historical data for this coin?

I think this whole paid voting thing on these exchanges is an absolute ripoff. If they want to add it great, if not, that is ok too.

Looks like Gridcoin is being down-voted with a bot on crypto rush... The voting system on there is a big scam.

Very sad to see I was voting on GRC and every time I hit +1 vote they were decreasing 10-15 votes...clearly someone down-voting a lot GRC...

But like traderman said:

- " if they want to add GRC great, if not, that's ok too "

Why I can't sync? I have 3 active connections to Gridcoin network, but can't sync. Already two hours and not sync even a block.
I sent my coins to an exchange, with no synchronization, now where are my coins? I've got 0 confirmations.

F*ck, really start heating this coin. And why the hell you combine the miner with the wallet it's inhumanly stupid. I don't want to mine this **** and
don't want the stupid window to pupup every f*ckin second. There is no even an option to disable it, it's so stupid...

If you add this command in .conf file the mining console wont open any more ---> suppressminingconsole=true

As for the syncing problem, try to update to the latest version and you will get sync.

Thanks for the information, I think suppressminingconsole=true should be default.
As for the syncing problem, I downloaded the latest version still no luck, can't sync.

CPU mining has been suspended for security upgrades. Only pool and solo mining available for now.

The devs are real professionals!  I don't mine this coin, I added suppressminingconsole=true to my conf file.
And instead of using the wallet like a normal user I'm getting dumb error messages, every time a start the wallet!(not only once as the message say)
Yeah, you know what you're doing!

If you come in and act like a tool, be thankful that some people will actually treat you with any respect in addressing your posts.

I know I acted like a fool, just was really angry. Sorry about that!
Ok, could someone please help me solve the syncing issue?

I downloaded the latest version of the wallet.

I added these nodes in my .conf file:

addnode=71.233.139.62:9778
addnode=84.125.196.167:9778
addnode=98.114.181.178
addnode=76.187.184.27:9778
addnode=66.187.94.194:9778
addnode=76.74.177.224:9778
addnode=72.92.48.105:9778

I started the wallet and still can't sync. In this moment I have 0 active connection to Gridcoin network.
