I have received this mail from snip
In short, it is selective scamming. The complaints are piling up against HitBTC.

How much longer before HitBTC get shut down by authorities?
You're right. I think it's a new strategy from exchanges. They pretend a security issue on your account to block your funds and to ask you several personal documents.  Undecided It's more hypocritical than suddenly changing the terms and conditions without warnings, but less blatant...

It is less blatant to the unseen eye but for those that have seen this type of scam infest in the crypto community we can spot it a mile away...

They are selective scamming users in ever increasing numbers thus bringing about the end of their scam website closer and sooner

There's no scamming. If you didn't notice after completing KYC people withdraw their coins. No one gets robbed.

False. Many users report giving all the requested data and still not receiving their money.

Besides, the KYC/AML procedure is invoked for even the smallest of amounts, like $50. This is not a practice focused on security. It's simply scamming, stalling and as mentioned above, possibly even identity theft.

HitBTC has never even tried to prove the IDs/documents are secured and the KYC requests are in any meaningful way justified. It's clear from all the complaints that a lot of users were directly harmed by the exchange and its affiliates. HitBTC is an unscrupulous and shady exchange. Avoid it like a plague.

It is a fact they are selective scamming users. Just because one person is posting here saying HitBTC is a great exchange that has done nothing wrong does not negate or challenge the many users that have stated in various social media outlets that they have been scammed.

Not only these exchangers. Why not considered c-cex on the list?  Wink

Security precautions taken by HitBTC in the verification process are designed to prevent international money laundering and fraudulent schemes, which is a common practice for a financial institution. Most traders have absolutely no trouble passing the KYC.

Our exchange is among the oldest in existence and is operating since 2013. We have never lost a satoshi of our traders' funds - we have to take the risk of our security measures being temporarily uncomfortable, because safety, security, and integrity are our top priorities.

Does anyone here have some info regarding KYC and HitBtc? I've found a tweet where a user claimed that accounts will automatically get frozen (until you send your documents) as soon as a deposit of 500$ (or higher) is made, how accurate is that?

What do you really think I'm doing every 2-3 days? I'm trying to complete it ASAP by compiling the accusations of each exchange every 2-3 days, and you're no one to "order me" to do that. If you think that you can do it in a faster manner, then eff off and make your own thread.

Don't get me wrong, what you're doing is great work, it just looked a bit strange that you omitted probably the biggest & well known scam exchange while listing other exchanges with only one scam accusation against it - but I see that you have now added Yobit to it so fair play to you.
I have a list of other scam exchanges in my sig - feel free to check those ones out as well.

Sorry if I offended you, it was not my intention.

Sadly they are getting huge numbers of complaints about the same thing as they are doing to you.

Their reputation is in tatters. Not long before the authorities shut them down or maybe they will run off with user funds with an exit strategy before that happens.
