Well, I've gone from getting paid 0.06 per block to 0.03-0.04 per block, and despite the high hashrate i don't see that many more blocks, so I am watching over my BTC/24 because currently it has decreased I would prefer two pools with 300GH/s contrary to one with 600

Yesterday we had bad luck, ~20% worse. Today we have ~10% better luck than average. This is what your income depends on. You get 0.03 per block, but twice as more blocks.

The Bitcoin network creates and distributes a batch of new bitcoins approximately six times per hour at random to somebody running the software with the "generate coins" option selected.from the wiki

No, there is no such limit - it says "approximately". Currently the network creates about 9.3 blocks per hour and the next difficulty adjustment will try to lower it to 6.

It is per block found by deepbit.net however. Any of the blocks processed during that round could be very short [or solved very quickly by somebody outside of the pool]. Long rounds are simply "bad luck" rounds.

Hi!
I started mining day 1 of this month, so i'm new to this. The first day i mined, i got 2.44 btc in 12h, with my 6950 (394 mhash/s). My account is set to propotional. Today i noticed i only mined 1 btc in 10h. Dont know if its because i've selected "proportional" in my account or if it's because difficulty has risen. Either way, what i want to know is: Should i still let it set to "Proportional" or "Payed Per Share"? Which one is better in my current situation? which one will give me more BTC?

Difficulty is ~40% higher now, it was adjusted tonight Should i still let it set to "Proportional" or "Payed Per Share"? Which one is better in my current situation? which one will give me more BTC? There is a description on the registration page and on each worker's page. Can you please tell me what was unclear for you in those descriptions so I can improve that text ?

I give PPS 24h risk run. I don't think it's going to be worse than my current rewards i receive.
It's been now near 12hours and i end this risk run. Even i'm one of the small guys, PPS is worse for me. I should have stick with proportional. In case anyone else wonders this and hashrate is ~280Mhash/s, stick with proportional, it's better for your rewards even it might seem otherwise.

In the long run Proportional may be 7% better on average, yes. But you can't test it with just 12 hours because of luck variation. In the LAST 12 hours Proportional was ~27% better than PPS. But in about the same time yesterday Proportional would be ~15% worse than PPS. This can be compared to coin flipping. You throw coin two times and both times it falls on "heads" side, so you tell people that they should know that coin always lands on "heads". But in the next time it may be the opposite.

My hashrate is 'round 24.4 MH/s (seems the average somtimes reaches up to 'round 30 somtimes, but most of the times i look at the miner proggie it says it's going at 24.4 MH/s), which mode do you suggest for me?

@Tycho: Yes, of course. It's like gambling. I can't afford high end rig, so i follow the flow and stick with proportional no matter what

Since I'm in a similar boat with about 30MH/s I would say it's confusing because I assume at this slow of a hashrate I wouldn't be submitting any shared blocks fast enough to get any BTC from proportional. I read in the forum that PPS is better for slow hashrates and proportional is better for higher hashrates but no one gives examples of what is slow and what is fast. If above is true maybe add a recommendation to the description? PPS: recommended for 100MH/s and slower and PROP: recommended for 100MH/s and faster. OR w/e the true/accurate hashrates would be recommended for each.

I read in the forum that PPS is better for slow hashrates and proportional is better for higher hashrates but no one gives examples of what is slow and what is fast. It's because it is subjective opinion, and I'd say it's wrong. The only thing you need to consider is what Tycho says in the description. On average you will get more money if you choose proportional, no matter what your speed is.

Question about this: "Failure detection threshold (1-3600 minutes)". Is there any optimal value for it, or how i should choose what to enter in it?
"Averaging window for hashrate display (5-30 minutes)" I've set this to 30minutes AFAIK it's only for getting more accurate number in signature/in My Account page.

Question about this: "Failure detection threshold (1-3600 minutes)". Is there any optimal value for it, or how i should choose what to enter in it? Depends on your hashrate. 40-60 min. recommended for CPU miners, 3 minutes for fast GPU miners. Your results may vary. Soon there will be an option to send you e-mail warning after crossing this threshold.

How is the "Average speed in last 5 minutes" measured?
As far as I can see it takes a sample every now and then, because my miners more or less constantly runs around 370-380 Mhash/s and the site lists me as low as 208 Mhash/s in the history window - why is this?
EDIT: Now the counter itself says 150 Mhash/s when I can see on the miners that they don't even dive that low, stable at speeds mentioned before

How is the "Average speed in last 5 minutes" measured? This speed is measured by counting your submitted shares and 5 minutes is not enough to average out your speed. Try setting it to 30 mins and see if it will be more consistent.
