Someone should invent a technology that makes their crypto coin hardly fluctuate. While still keeping all the practicalities of bitcoin/darkcoin. I think that would get peoples interest after this bitcoin crash. Not good for trading but good for privacy, low fees and every day use.

I've just had a look back through the thread and I can't find the block number when the DRK block reward will be reduced.

It should be any day now shouldn't it?  Maybe 16th or 17th Jan?

if(nHeight > 158000+((576*30)*3)) ret += blockValue / 40; //37.5% - 2015-01-23
but it will be later couple of days as there are 6sec difference between block time findings.
so block nr 209840 gets 37,5 % it will be
we still need 6873 to go, 11,93 days when there are 576 blocks found, but there was something like 6secods more than standard 2,5min for a block so doing the countings it will last a bit more...
if so 553 blocks found/day
6873/553=12,42 days
14 Jan 2015 + 12,4day = 26 Jan 2015
correct me if Im wrong Smiley

Hey guys! There's a thread on r/bitcoinmarkets right now with a nice little poll which we could push Darkcoin a bit up in Tongue

And the poll itself! http://strawpoll.me/3402004

They have. Its called Bitshares. (Or more specifically, the associated BitAssets such as BitUSD).

It's the most innovative and interesting concept in crypto (although not a new concept in finance generally) since POW in my opinion.

To be attached to US dollar nowadays is not a good idea in my opinion....

The U.S. debt has surpassed $18.0 trillion and continues to grow with no signs of remission. In fact, it has more than doubled in the past 10 years, growing at an annual rate of 8.82%. In 2018, just four years from now, it is expected to exceed $22.0 trillion.

I just decided to sit the whole thing out. I wasted enough time last year on crypto-trading and probably gave myself a few more grey hairs than I needed to at the same time.

I've been a fiat-free zone for about a year and a half now.

There is also nubits, pegged to usd.

Indeed.

The only thing is that Nubits has a bit of an ugly pegging mechanism whereas Bitshares has a very elegant one. (I say that as a 'scammed' investor in Bitbay which uses the Nubits approach. I'm still hoping Bitbay might get somewhere).

The thing I like about Bitshares is that it simultaneously offers two distinct types of investor exactly what they need in a complimentary way. The commercial world which is looking for a stable currency will buy the bit asset (e.g. BitUSD) meanwhile the risk-seeking investment sector buys the underlying collateral (Bitshares / BTS). The more adoption of the pegged asset there is, the more value is gained by the collateral (BTS). The less adoption less BTS value, but the whole time the Bit asset remains pegged even though the BTS collateral valuation varies.

There's also no limit to volume as their is with the Nubits approach - in fact the more BitUSD is adopted the higher the value of BTS goes. This model therefore stimulates BOTH supply and demand at the same time.

The  NuBits model on the other hand only concerns itself with throttling supply in the hope that there will be enough prevailing demand to make the price rise. It's a one-dimensional model as opposed to the more holistic BitShares approach. You're basically just volume for value as opposed to creating an asset which the market naturally pegs through the interplay between those two distinct trading groups I described above.

Why do you call it "fud" ?

It was a lighthearted market-trend observation.

At worst satire.

Yes... every 2-3 days(or pages) somebody speak about LTC
When i ask about x11 ASIC many people spoke against me and told me to leave thread because here I could only speak of darkcoin
X11 is darkcoin algo!
We must be reasonable, and take advantage of the problems that have been most ancient coins to correct those failures.
If you look at the top 10 market cap you will see that the only minable coin there is Litecoin(Doge is merged and his reward is finished in a few months), and is dying.
The traditional mining is dying and must avoid affecting darkcoin.

Yes. We must be  Smiley

The traditional mining is dying and must avoid affecting darkcoin.

I don't know about that - it's not really significant that there are few "mineable's" in the to p10 marketcap. I think that's more because of the diversifying market than because of a "dying algo".

All the same, if you were right, mineable coins can just fork themselves and switch to POS.

They appear to have been in fiat overnight and have woken up shocked that it's not yet in the sub-100 range and are now in buy back mode.

So much for the idea that the "number of Bitcoin users fewer than members of Kuwait airways frequent flyers club" and that bitcoin is insignificant and not going anywhere......http://insidebitcoins.com/news/russia-blacklists-bitcoin-websites/28688
