Money can't produce good sports team otherwise England won't have to wait till 2019 to win ODI world cup. In Srilanka there are also issues with tamil population they are not welcome in institutes controlled by central government. They need to expand cricket to other communities also.

Ethnic issues are prevalent in Sri Lanka, but I hope that the tensions reduced after the conclusion of the civil war. Anyway, their most famous cricketer is an ethnic Tamil. Sadly, apart from Muttiah Muralitharan, I don't think that any other Tamils have represented Sri Lanka at national level. Pradeep Jayaprakashdaran played one ODI match if I am not wrong. Angelo Mathews and Russel Arnold are half-Tamil, but they consider themselves as Sinhalese. A few guys are playing at club level, such as Vijayakanth Viyaskanth and Sebastian Pillai Vijayaraj.

Despite the worst economic crisis in the country's history, Sri Lanka should be motivated and at least give a better performance in the next two test matches. A good performance ultimately benefits all Sri Lankans. Winning is the most desired thing for any team but Bangladesh here is in a good position to grab all attention. Shakib Al Hasan's test results are negative, so he will join Bangladesh's squad. Bangladesh will benefit from this move by giving a boost to their performance in the first Test against Sri Lanka.

Match fitness is necessary unless they are cooking up 3 days pitch.

Anyway It's a 2 match series, not long so his inclusion later in the series is not very promising considering Shakib is not match fit and Sri Lanka wins the first test match.

Now back to cricket, I know that this situation is quite bad for Sri Lanka. But I still do not believe that Bangladesh is going to perform well enough to beat them because the Bangladeshi cricketers just cannot play test cricket. I don't know if they don't have enough patience or if they don't have enough skill. I just know that if I trust Bangladesh to win this test series I am going to make a mistake.

Situation inside Sri Lanka is very much same as is performance of their cricket team. At the moment there is no player in Sri Lanka that is reliable like Malinga, Dilshan or Sangakara. Coming towards Bangladesh, they may have some edge that they have some senior players that are playing test for years like Lutan Das and Shakib.

I am not sure how the crises in Sri Lanaka are affecting the emotions and health of the people. TV shows very bad footages. The political situation in Pakistan is very serious too but they are stable till now. But Srilankan people went very hard on their ministers and PM. They are very angry with their politicians.

Bangladesh without Shakib will be inferior to Sri Lanka, IMO. Because some of the Sri Lankan players are currently in very good form, including Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmanta Chameera. And these two teams have similar strengths, and therefore the pitch can't be prepared in a way to favor either of these teams. In all probability it is going to be a closely fought series and both the teams are in need of a series win at this point. Not much to gain from a win, but the team that loses may undergo a lot of humiliation.

This is a great thing you have learned that DYOR not on other suggestions. If you place bet based on your own research then you will either win or learn something which is not the case otherwise. IMO both teams are of same level, its very sad to see Srilanka going down to level of Bangladesh.

If Bangladesh prepares a spin-friendly pitch, then it will backfire upon them and I won't be surprised if they get bowled out for two digit totals. This is something that they should avoid at all cost. A safer option for them would be to prepare tracks that are more conductive for batting. Anyway, the first test match is scheduled for tomorrow. It will take place at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, which is notorious for it's spin-friendly track.

Watched couple of interviews where in one of em he was clearly saying that girls shouldn't play cricket at all and he stopped his girls from playing cricket or any outdoor game in public (By giving them chaped -thappad) in private they can play and regarding Hindi tv serial, he apparently got angry because his girls imitating hindu traditions like people do in diwali, holi and starting saying Namaste etc.

I was going through the latest drama between Afridi and Kaneria. These allegations and counter-allegations are very damaging.. Both of them need to understand that although the quarrel is between them as individuals, the greater repercussions will be felt across the sporting community. Especially when they invoke religion and ethnicity, it can get out of control and result in unwanted consequences. My little piece of advice to Afridi would be to stay out of controversy, or else in the future if he wants to get some position with PCB or the ICC, then his pass comments may come back to bite him.

I believed Afridi is a very religious person and he puts his religion above everything else. so I don't think he's going to back out of anything that he wants to say but my up in of unwanted attention and problems. and I am quite sure that this thing is going to cause a lot of problems and a lot of controversy around Shahid Afridi.

Afridi is a good man - but his political believe are very strange. We fail to understand who he is trying to impress?
Recently it seems those who are siding the current important government are not siding the right people.

Lasith Embuldeniya is the danger man for the Bongs if there is any spin deck. If he's in his godmode zone then god bless Bengali batters. Having said that recently Lankans are producing fine cricketers (just look at IPL) so i won't be surprise if they manage to bring new spinners or fast bowler in their new squad.

I really think Bangladesh is in deep trouble right now because Taskin is a bowler who can produce a really good pace and certainly a good pace compared to the other bowlers in Bangladesh. In test cricket, a bowler who can bowl really fast is certainly really important. so this is going to be a big blow for Bangladesh. At first, I thought I was really underestimating the Bangladeshi players even though I was saying they have no chance but now I genuinely believe that they don't have any chance.

Bangladesh is already a very weak team in test cricket and not having Shakib Al Hasan in the team only causes more problems for Bangladesh. I have seen Bangladesh lose from certain winnable positions. I know that Sri Lanka is also not in a good situation right now and Bangladesh will surely try to exploit those problems. Now we have new updates from Bangladesh side as they are going to allow Shakib for this first home test series of this season even it's still big problems waiting for them in bowling but with this now they have some relief because he is well experienced player in all formats and one off most well decorated which can bring some good for his team.

With Sri Lanka having new coach and many new players are also included into this side it's also big challenge for them as not good news coming from home after political tension is going on but most chances they will play their best game against struggling Bangladesh which is having scores of 53 and 80 in their last few innings against South Africa after having very good draw series into New Zealand.

Well... I checked the stats of both Embuldeniya and Hasaranga, and I would agree with your argument (Still Wanindu has played just 4 tests, so there is always a chance that he will improve in the future). And I agree with the second part as well. Sri Lanka is producing some promising cricketers lately and that is good for the future of cricket in that country. Both Wanindu and Lasith are 24-25 years old, so they have the potential to grow to the level of legendary players such as Lasith Malinga or Muttiah Muralitharan.

Angelo Mathews and Kushal Mendis have a 70-run partnership and both are still unbeaten. They are batting well enough. He is one of the most experienced players in the team. If they are not able to form a big partnership then the Sri Lankan team will not be able to collect big. If they want to fight in this match, Sri Lanka will have to collect at least 350 runs in the first innings. The pair of Mathews and Mendis should have scored at least 150 runs.
