I am not sure about this residence requirement of 4 years. From what I heard, the ICC reduced it to 6 months some time ago. If it had remained at 4 years, then none of the Omani players would qualify to represent that country. There was only one instance of a GCC nation fielding a team that was entirely comprised of citizens. When the Kuwaiti team participated in Asian Games, all the 11 members of the playing XI were Arabs (as per the rules of Asian Games, non-citizens can't represent a country). And here is the result:

There is no change of rules for anyone still ICC need 4 years living in country, and it's working all Omani players are living in this country for years, and now they are eligible for playing here in this Mega event. As for Asian Games they have their own rules and regulations which apply for them, just because of this, Kuwait have to send their own players for this event.

^ In my opinion, Bangladesh has never been a really good t20 team. They have played good ODI in recent times but they have always lacked in both test and t20 format. They had magic in Sri Lanka and they lost the match by five wickets. It seems like only one or two players are performing on regular basis but the others are not performing as they should just like today Shakib al Hassan and Mohammad Naim and Mushfiqur Rahim Played really well in my opinion. Shakib with the ball and Naim and Mushfiqur in batting. But we know cricket is a team game so one or two or three players performing might just not cut it and that's what happened here I think Bangladesh has to figure out what is going wrong and work on it. Because I think Bangladesh needs to work harder and work in the bowling department. Except for Shakib al Hassan, the bowling was not up to the mark and that is a big reason for the loss of Bangladesh.

Hopefully in next few years they could be improved but this need some good funds and commitment from their management. After this world cup they have some busy schedule with helps them for having some good experience.

Now they have lost to Sri Lanka, despite setting up a mammoth total. Shakib and Mustafizur conceded just 39 runs from their 6 overs yesterday (don't know why they didn't bowled their full quota of overs). The other bowlers went for 133 runs from 12.5 overs (more than 10 runs per over).

^ And the 2 missed catches, man!! those hurt too much. If Liton held onto those catches it might have been different results. And I really think Shakib and Fizz should have bowled 8 together. And they should obviously work on their death bowling. They simply can't afford to leak runs like that if they want to win matches. And outfield work has to improve. Hope they learn from their mistakes and fix those for a better tournament.

Pakistan Beat India and it is absolutely sad. Rohit was expecting a good length ball & was surprised by the full length. He was beaten more for length & pace than movement. Rahul too seemed to expecting a back of a good length. Almost like, the bowling coach/analyst told the openers that Shaheen Afridi to look for short of a good length

Anyway it is tough to play in Sri Lankan pitches. Even big 3 teams had issues recently. I wouldn't' read too much in to this series. The U-19 world cup is only a few months away and I hope that both the teams will be able to perform well. This time the tournament will take place in West Indies and a total of 16 countries are taking part.

Ager group cricket can be very volatile. There may be some very talented players in one season, but they become ineligible to play when the tournament resumes after two years. If I am not wrong, India is the team that has won the U-19 world cup maximum number of times, followed by Australia. The 2018 World Cup was won by India, and they finished runners up in 2016 and 2020. Bangladesh won the trophy for the first time in 2020, so you can't say that there is no improvement. This time the competition is going to be tough anyway.

And there is the thing about players form, A player who played very well in the last world cup match, not play that good in the next one. @Sithara007 I believe high ranking officials also helps player’s cheat, because it’s impossible for them to cheat without the officials help. Furthermore do teams get banned if a player is caught lying about his age, or only the player who lied gets banned by the ICC?.

Age fudging is nothing new. We all know that Munaf Patel did this to play in the IPL. He said he's 29 when he was actually 35. I am not actually clear about what the rules are about this matter. But I think the whole team shouldn't suffer just because of one selfish player who lied. And who knows maybe he even lied to his teammates and coaches too.

AFAIK there is no mechanism to identify the age of a player other then his birth certificate (correct me if I am wrong). Now in Pakistan and India birth certificates are issued by govt authorities electronically, so you cant modify record unless some insider helps you in doing that.

I dont know how an international player can say about his age. His age is publicly available on sites like espncricinfo and in ICC data. There is no way an international player can manipulate his age.

Currently, as technology is developed we have too many ways of knowing about ages and all aspects about players, so cheating is possible but very difficult. As someone mentions it is happening in sub-continent because here still few chances about this but in developed countries they are managing things very fairly, so it's hard for any one even not possible. In case of Munaf Patel, it maybe he has done some poor way to talk about his age, but surely he is over 35. In the past, we have some good number of cheated cases about age but in current time it is not, so now players are not going to do any cheat in this case.

What the f#%ck have happened to "freedom of choice" and "freedom of religion"?  I am totally against all forms of racism, but I am definitely not going to take the knee.. just because everyone else are forcing the issue.

They force the "race" issues... but they allow countries like Afghanistan and Pakistan with several human rights and women rights violations to participate it these tournaments. (Capturing and torturing of Afghan people, indulging in terrorism etc...)  

Edit : It was all for nothing in any way, he has a lot of mixed race family members and his reasons for not taking the knee has nothing to do with him being racist. The South African Cricket politics are killing the game. (They even apply forced race ratios in their selection for the team)

I am also against forcing anyone to dance to their tune in the name of a cause and i bet Quinton de Kock is against any form of racism and so does normal people but there are some who wanted to force things on to others which is unacceptable but i wont be boycotting watching the tournament because of these incidents. I was aware of the entire thing until I saw your post now and then did some research of what exactly happened. It is indeed shameful to force others to take the knee although I highly rate this movement but no one should be forced to do they don't want to.

I read at espn that De Kock has agreed to take the knee and even apologized. It's hard to understand what for he apologized. But looking from a different angle, I am not sure why he was so against taking a knee in first place because it's not like you are forced to do something that will cause any harm. Taking a knee to support a movement that is for the larger good shouldn't have been a problem for him to begin with.
