Pakistan had good opening and the players followed the same which helped them with the easy win. Just Masood and Agha weren't able to contribute to the score. 289 looks small after watching good number of T20 matches. In reality the format differs and so is the performance. New Zealand batting too is good, but they weren't able to bowl well, some quick wickets is necessary to built pressure upon the players. Anyhow New Zealand have got more four matches to play and win the series.

After the T20 series was drawn 2-2, Pakistan and New Zealand played the first match of 5 ODI matches yesterday.  Pakistan won the first match by 5 wickets against New Zealand. New Zealand batted first and managed to score 288 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Daryl Mitchell top scored for New Zealand 113(115). However, the way New Zealand started, they should have scored 300 plus runs, but they failed to finish well towards the end. 289 is an easy target for Pakistan. And this target Pakistan achieved very easily.  Pakistan reached their target with 9 balls in hand.  Fakhar Zaman 117(114) was selected as the player of the match.

New Zealand batting too is good, but they weren't able to bowl well, some quick wickets is necessary to built pressure upon the players. Anyhow New Zealand have got more four matches to play and win the series.

The series ended in a 2-2 draw after one of the five T20Is was abandoned due to rain but Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 5 wickets in the first ODI in Rawalpindi yesterday. In this case, there is no room to magnify New Zealand's failure because they have performed well in terms of batting but not that they have done too badly. In yesterday's match, Pakistan scored 124 runs in the opening pair and scored 90 runs in a one-down wicket which played a great role in Pakistan's victory.

If this target was 20 more runs I don't think Pakistan would have got the win. This was the first match of the ODI series. So, Pakistan will have to be consistent. At least it feels like the batting problem of Pakistan is getting fixed.

Rawalpindi pitch is totally for batsman and both the teams performed brilliantly batting wise . Balling side of Newzealand has some weakness which is the reason they couldn't stop runs of Pakistan.
