If we have that same sentiments which probably the chance of being another possible farm team for SMC is not by far, as you mentioned I don't believe that they can't afford to provide that amount which being ask by these two stars, both players are young and have a decent future if being surrounded by sets of role players.

If converge is really aiming for the ring, they have the chemistry already and they are showing good numbers last season, they just need additional role players and good import who can guide and lead them to win the game.

They were winning games last season and had a good import, but there were coaching decisions that their import didn't follow as it seemed like he had to carry the team on his own and not sharing the ball much. This resulted in them missing the chance to make it to the quarterfinals. I'm not sure who their import is now, but losing Ahanmisi and Jeron Teng is certainly a significant setback for the team.

But moving forward, with the way JMF is playin during that last FIBA games it might be a quick with what we may expect from him this upcoming season, earning another MVP both season and finals MVP is not that far to happen.
