Barcelona receive £1.2bn offer from Dubai company to write off club's debts

FC Barcelona have reportedly received a £1.2bn offer to stabilise the Catalan club and write off their substantial debt that has caused havoc over the summer.

The La Liga giants had to part with one of the all-time greats over the summer, as financial issues at Barcelona ensured that under league rules, they couldn't afford to re-sign Lionel Messi.

In an attempt to lower their wage bill, the club also let Antione Griezmann return to Atletico Madrid, with Emerson Royal and Junior Firpo heading to the Premier League.

The club has been in a terrible state, but a company from Dubai could revive the club.

So everything happening to Barcelonas poor performance is tied to its financial stress but having a helping hand is this financial fair play?? This isn't any different from the proposed European league cup we heard about.

I read the article and it says that in fact this company from Dubai offers Barcelona to borrow at low interest rates (and it seems with a 2-year moratorium on interest payments) that is, this is not gratuitous assistance (as you might think from the title) but ordinary debt refinancing. But there is no information in the article about what the Dubai company is asking in return or what it will get if Barcelona cannot pay this debt - I think that the most important points in this proposal are not yet known (to the general public).

And I saw when Messi faced Manchester City players last time he was pretty good and could get a really fantastic pass from Mbappe. Yes i agree bilbao are really tough to beat at home they are a solid balanced team and against alaves who are struggling at the bottom in my opinion the last game against atletico was just a lucky win since atletico players missed many opportunities.

I believe Barcelona has planned it, probably will buy top strikers in the next window transfer. They may be ready to compete with other big teams in signing a superstar such as Mbappe, Haaland, or Kane. Or they will plan to bring backs Leo Messi to the team after they fix the financial crisis. I think this is really not a problem for Barcelona but how these players are brought into the team. Back then players were groomed to play for the team while they were young and understood what playing for a particular team really meant. Today football is a business and players don't play with the loyalty and passion because they are all focused to getting paid and nothing else...maybe with an exception with a few others.
