Holy sh*t!! I shed a tear for them. Better not pushing your SP20 with some random PSU. Have fire extinguisher near by and get a Nest fire detector (or any smart detector) Would you be uneasy with 2 of these? Thermaltake Smart M Series 750W 80 Plus Bronze ATX12V v2.3 & EPS12V Power Supply SP-750M They're both brand new but I'm looking for another to replace the two.

SP-T, did the owner contact you regarding this? : What is the source of fire? All 5MW miners burned down. I believe he said they're all SP30 Looks like an amateurish setup for one just a few things i see : -horrible cabling work - i would not be surprised if the cables didnt catch fire first and all that stacked rubber just fed the fire. -machines are stacked on top of each other generating even more heat : for that many machines you should use real racks with the proper spacing btw units -where the Fk is the fire suppression units or at least sprinklers up top, i see no evidence of the duct work you would need to have for a proper halon or water suppression system -looking at the floor all i can say is no no no. -if you look some of the units are facing the opposite direction from the others which indicates they were not doing any kind of venting of all the heat those units generate via some sort of turbine system. these units generate a ton of heat bra heck my dryer went and out i don't miss it my SP30 drys all my cloths faster than my dryer lol. No way anyone would insure that much equipment with a setup like they better start begging for SP30 coupons from SP TECH or call it a total loss. I would have paid money to see all that BTC flare up though I just hope no one died

Novec immersion cooling a la DataTank would have prevented this. Not cheap, but neither is insurance or burning down your whole data center without insurance...

ROI is not a verb, the term you're looking for is 'to break even'.

Like is this picture a hoax? Think about it.. This is roughly $3,600,000 USD dollars in SP30s... Do the math. 21,600 AMPs - 2.16 Million watts - ENOUGH TO POWER 220 houses in full use!!!!!!

Do you see cubes in my Photo? Those are all spondoolies sp30. ITS a 5MW facility that burned down to the ground. Not a house. I have helped keeping the last difficulty jump down by putting off some peta hashes ;-).

However, that is probably good for a nice reduction in hash rate this week. Thanks for that. Is this the same guy who was bragging about highest hash rate density in the world a month ago? Boy I hope not. that's sure be egg on the face.

I knew it was the cowboy miners when I saw the pic. I remember seeing the pic of their messy set-up a while ago. Edit: I should say I'm very sorry for their loss. Would be interested to know what went wrong here.

No way anyone would insure that much equipment with a setup like they better start begging for SP30 coupons from SP TECH or call it a total loss. I would have paid money to see all that BTC flare up though I just hope no one died -Its hard to see the cable management work since the shit was all burned down. So i think this is moot -There is no problem stacking the SP30, Infact when you populate a 42Urack with this, there is no spacing between them. Its not like SP10 where the bottom heatsink actually touch the case. -I dont see any units facing opposite from others. You're looking at all of them in the back. There is no ducting because the whole side of the building is filled with big ass fans. They're sucking all the hot air out as you can guess. -The setup is typical for Bitcoin Megaminer. This is not datacentre ppl. This is a FARM. They're all setup like this. No need for fancy floors and lighting or ducting. Infact i've seen worst from Chinese farms which only use "supposedly" inferior chinese miners (cheap quality parts). Yet i've not seen any incident like this ..... -sprinkler system is not simple, as you cant just use water in server rooms. This is not your typical office space. I agree that they should have a sprinkler system using 3M liquid, its expensive.

Have fire extinguisher near by and get a Nest fire detector (or any smart detector) No need to be a stupid troll about it, its obviously a hastily setup on the cheap farm with dodgy wiring. Once an electrical fire starts like that in that sort of setup there is no stopping it. Could have been caused by any number of reasons. And has zero to do with the SP20 seeing as all of those machines are SP30

I knew it was the cowboy miners when I saw the pic. I remember seeing the pic of their godawful messy set-up a while ago. Don't be a cowboy miner. Do it right. Edit: I should say I'm very sorry for their loss. Would be interested to know what went wrong here. Well, he (cowboyminer) says that he had 3 buildings burned down. However, even 5mw is "just" ~7Ph or 2.3% of the network. The dip is something else or he had another 10 buildings that he switched off. Regardless, it is a major upset for these guys.

5MW is about 1,666 Sp30 5000000/3000 = 1666 Each machine only made about 5BTC so far for a total 8330 BTC worth only: $3.5million However, 1666 SP30 cost: 7.5 million. probably with a .5Million volume discount.. Total loss: at least 2.5 MillionYou could buy another nice house for that much.

I would like to get a small salvage crew in there. The parts are still worth a sum to E waste precious metalmetal reclamation and maybe a hash board or two is still ok. The ones in the middle maybe.

It happened to several ppl back in GPU days. What a fcking noob

Great praise for a flaming mining farm. This has to take the cake on MegaBigPower melting their medium voltage feed and transformer.

Yes. We're helping to recover some of the SP30s. The source of the fire is yet unknown. A lot of other miners were consumed in the fire as well. Edit: James guessed correctly. Guy
