With John Ryder, it will give Canelo a boost of confidence after it. This fight is not even hyped or probably because they don't want to ruin Tank Davis's moment.

It would be very head scratching to speculate that Canelo vs. Ryder fight can ruin Tank vs. King Ry's main event. No one wants to pay to see Canelo fight Ryder. There is no hype behind this and who is this John Ryder?

I reckon what the fans would like to see for Canelo is fight Benavidez! However, it appears Canelo is avoiding him hehehe. Canelo wants a rematch vs. Bivol but Bivol is avoiding Canelo because he wants a unification in light heavyweight.

Because this John Ryder was just selected by Eddie Hearn to be his tune-up fight and this is a must for Canelo's camp because he just came back from surgery because of the wrist injury he had. In my perspective, it's like hitting two birds with one stone because in this fight, Canelo will accomplish two things. 1st is erasing one of the boxers that are queued to fight him in the future as Ryder is an interim champion, 2nd is to see how will Canelo perform with his wrist that just got fixed.

And no, I may not be a fan of Canelo but I don't think that he's avoiding Benavidez. The kid is not eligible to fight him this much sooner because David doesn't have any interim belts and as Canelo said before, he should prove himself first that he truly deserves a chance to fight Canelo. Now if David can defeat Caleb with a bang, that is surely a ticket for David to fight Canelo.

He didn't give Canelo any opportunities to change the direction as he just continue what he knows is best to prevent Canelo to box him out and pull the KO solid combinations.

And that's where Canelo's career became a huge embarrassment in-front of the Russian boxer, Dmitry Bivol. The latter showed us who truly owns the division and what he is made of, moreover, he pulled an upset while proving that the peoples favorite as well as the bookies favorite is not a basis that he is an easy boxer in-front of Canelo. What Bivol did is almost unbelievable as it's the first time that Canelo looked like a human punching bag without almost no choice aside from receiving all those punches that Bivol is giving.

Bivol breaks the heart of most gamblers  Roll Eyes beating Canelo, who's very hype during that time and proving that he owns the territory and he's not willing to be stripped. That's something that added to his career. Now he's in the spotlight and he can choose money fight plus the title matchup.

Waiting if he will face again Canelo for a rematch or he will continue to chase more belts and challenge different champions both from his division or decide to jump up.

I'm just curious though, does that rematch clause still stands up until now? Most of the rematch clause got their own expiration date like 30 up to 100 days and that is why it's very crucial that the losing side will decide whether they will do it or not as this clause will not stand out forever. But since there's nothing like that in the headlines, maybe they didn't set up an expiration because the sports news as well are waiting about it. I'm already interested if it will be contested at 175 or 168 where Canelo is dominating but the risks are just too great, IMO.

They will approve it when they see Bivol's skills decline a bit. If for one time he wins by an SD, that might give that rematch another chance since Canelo still is a money maker in sport.

With John Ryder, it will give Canelo a boost of confidence after it. This fight is not even hyped or probably because they don't want to ruin Tank Davis's moment.

Canelo should be careful though because it is him who got defeated in their recent encounter and it is Bivol who literally defeated him for which made Canelo furious because he doesn't know what to do anymore but to receive Bivol's punches involuntarily. And if Canelo will choose to wait until Bivol's skills will deciline, it might go right back at him they are just in the same age. Which means that is risky for Canelo, it's much better for him to settle it this year if in-case he can defeat Ryder with a huge statement.

Whether David Benavidez defeats Caleb with a bang or not, Benavidez is top in line to challenge Alvarez for The Ring Super middleweight championship fight.  But of course, if Benavidez losses against Caleb then,  Benavidez will be replaced by Caleb and the chance of Benavidez to fight Alvarez will be lessened.

In addition the WBC interim Super Middleweight Champion is Benavidez while The WBC World super middleweight Champion is Alvarez, if we apply your reason why John Rider has the right to fight, Alvarez i think that is the same with Benavidez for the WBC Super Middleweight world title belt.

Technically, that should be the case.

However, there are things that might influence a supposed fight. Canelo sticks to his quote before that he will never face a fellow Mexican although, at some point in his past interview, he added that if things really can't avoid, he will fight anybody. He might consider facing Benavidez in the future as the latter earned his spot to be eligible to face Canelo.

Moving forward, Benavidez is determined to beat Caleb Plant for the possible face-off with Canelo later on. And if Canelo will still insists on not fighting Benavidez because of his view about fighting fellow Mexicans, no choice but to drop his belt or there might be some boxing-related politics that will ruin the possibility of that match happening.

Yes, Canelo is guaranteed another 8 figures here, so he doesn't care perhaps, hehehe. And most likely his target will be the Mexicans obviously in his native country. Probably in the US too, but for fans, Tank vs Ryan Garcia is an easy choice if I were to buy PPV between this two fights.

I reckon what the fans would like to see for Canelo is fight Benavidez! However, it appears Canelo is avoiding him hehehe. Canelo wants a rematch vs. Bivol but Bivol is avoiding Canelo because he wants a unification in light heavyweight.

Maybe if David can win against Plant this weekend, his name will pop up. But definitely Canelo is looking for Bivol next after this, whether 175 or even 168 lbs as Canelo is willing to put his belt on the line. So lot's of fight in the calendar that can affect Canelo after he win against John Ryder.

Agreed on Canelo does not care hehe. I was only telling @cabron that Canelo vs. Ryder will certainly not ruin Tank vs. King Ry because much of the fans will be on Tank vs King Ry. Similar to what you said, if the both of them were on the same day, which ticket or pay per view would you buy?

I speculate Canelo will not consider Benavidez because of the risk that he might lose to him. It might be better to risk losing to Bivol in light heavyweight because he will not lose all of his super middleweight championships hehehe. He can lose them against Benavidez.

And to give a good follow up, Benavidez might get the chance of fighting Canelo once he beats Caleb who are also
a contender before Canelo beats him and remove him from a no loss champ title.

It's interesting since Canelo just went from a surgery and now will be seeing again in action with a decent chance of winning against his challenger.

All will be witness when the schedule come up and both players are in front of the fans fighting.

Compared to John Ryder, David Benavidez is the better fighter, more popular, and more proven in the division. But nowadays politics played a big role in boxing. The huge amount of money involved became an important part of fighters, networks, and promoters' decisions. I am not saying Canelo is scared of Benavidez because he might deserve an easy fight after his injury. John Ryder may look easy to Canelo compared to the undefeated and dangerous Benavidez. Nonetheless, I have nothing in this fight and John Ryder might have earned his right to fight for a title after his huge upsets over Daniel Jacobs and Zach Parker. But we cannot question that David Benavidez deserves his shot at a championship belt rather than Ryder.

Styles make fights but Ryder lost already to a lot of fighters and some of them were not even championship-caliber type while Benavidez remained unbeaten and lost the WBC belt before because he was stripped.

Yes, Politics and huge amount of money that may pressure the fighters and their camps to push fights in between, I understand that Ryder do deserve this fight against Canelo but we all know how hunger Benavidez to fight Canelo and the chance is nearing once he completes his fight against Caleb and he wins he will earn the interim belt that gives him that opportunity to finally face Canelo.

A big money fight once both fights with Canelo and Benavidez will turn into their favors, a possible big money fight to be scheduled between them.

Let see if that will take place and the wait will be over now for Benavidez.

Benavidez is the no. 1 in The Ring super middleweight champion ranking while John Rider as you stated is the WBO interim champion.  I disagree that Benavidez is not eligible to fight Canelo, if The Ring implements a mandatory title defense then probably Benavidez is the most legit to fight Alvarez.  Same way on John Rider being the WBO interim super middleweight champion.

Yes and Canelo could also dictate to the corrupt WBC who he wanted to fight next, in this case Ryder because he is not of a bigger threat as compare to the young Benavidez who also shows power. I don't think that Canelo or scared or it is the right term, but he needs to be very careful of his next fight because he is testing his hands first. So John Ryder is the best fit for that, not Mexican, but willing to travel to Mexico and face him. Good for Ryder though, in terms of experience and exposure and probably his biggest money to date as a boxer.

No need for Canelo Alvarez to make use of his affiliation towards the WBC or influence because he can always choose whom to fight because he is not yet due to any mandatory fight, but let's say that  he's due, then surely he will need to take advantage of his influence to pick a less-threat kind of boxer because of his current situation. But that's not the case this time, right? Hence why their camp chose John Ryder.

Richard Comney weighed at 140.6 lbs and then 140.4 lbs, he need to shred that .4 lbs in the next couple of hours so that it will be a good for his Ramirez clash. Both are former champions, Ramirez having lost his belt to Josh Taylor during their unification fight a couple of years ago. While RC was a LW belt holder but now moving up in weight at welterweight. I think Ramirez can break down RC here in the middle to round 10. RC is not known to have a good chin and gas tank while Ramirez is comfortable at this division. His supposed to fight Prograis for the belt but it fell through because of the 65/35 split in favor of Regis which he think is not fair for him as a former champion.

Ah, that is why many are saying Canelo is ducking Benavidez, it s not because he is afraid of Benavidez but the statement he made before that he does not want to fight his fellow Mexican unless is avoidable.  It does make sense now why there is almost no chance for Canelo and Benavidez unless mandated by the sanctioning bodies.

If Benavidez beat Caleb, the super middleweight boxing will be more interesting because there is a chance that WBC might implement a mandatory title fight between Benavidez and Canelo.  I think Canelo will give in to the order and fight Benavidez.

I didn't know there were too many demands from the champion's camp just so Ryan Garcia could fight him.

Quote
Garcia gave Davis a one-sided rematch clause that only Davis can exercise if Garcia upsets him April 22 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Quote
The 24-year-old Garcia must adhere as well to a rehydration clause that prohibits him from weighing more than 146 pounds when he enters the ring for their Showtime Pay-Per-View main event.
The second one was kind of intriguing. Maybe because Ryan Garcia is way too big and Davis' camp is preventing him to gain more power by being heavier when the fight starts. That's a good strategy and this is the first I have heard that it could be done. This means he will be weighed again before he enters the ring.
Quote
From Garcia’s perspective, he feels like he said yes to virtually every request because he wanted this career-defining fight so badly.
They didn't detail what other requests had been made but I like how Garcia is just trying to let the fight happen even if there are so many things that he has to accept.
This is good publicity for him too, he may pull some fans on his side for being the bullied one when it comes to the contract signing.

For me, Davis will be the one who will dictate how the fight will be, if he decides to make it long or give it his all from the beginning, I don't think García will let himself be knocked out either, this fighter has many things at his disposal, but also one of the things that I like about Garcia It is that he is not afraid of anything, neither the press nor what they will say about him, he only focuses on his fight to win and not stop what they say about him, of course I have seen that the bets are more biased towards Davis , perhaps it is because boxeaodr is much more popular and has a high relevance in the world of boxing.

The truth is, I would like Canelo to be able to face Benavidez, also, as Canelo is, he should accept the challenge, I don't understand why some boxers have to beg so much, Canelo wants to fight with everyone and in the end he doesn't fight with anyone, I understand that Canelo He wants to measure himself with the best, but if the others already have their commitments, a Famous boxer should not be with those things, he should have enough Conviction of what he is and what they have, There is no other way.

I can say that Davis will take this seriously as he also know that Garcia can KO him if he made a mistake, everything will be decided once they finally agree with whatever the demands Davis have here. I like the fight to be on a toe-to-toe confrontation and see if who among these two great fighters will take pride and win the match.

The favorite will be on the Davis side but for risk takers, upset can happen here and bring decent profits.

The last demand where Ryan Garcia will take another weigh-in before the fight is what I think will have a big difference in the fight. Imagine just avoiding food and liquids so that you won't exceed the weight limit. That could mean his own health and his performance in the fight.

Funny thing, Ryan Garcia is already challenging Devin Haney while he had not even defeated Davis yet.
Quote
By Adam Baskin: Ryan Garcia says he’s calling out undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney if he successfully defeats Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis on April 22nd. Ryan states that he’s fought Haney (29-0, 15 KOs) six times in the amateurs, splitting them at 3-3, and he wants a seventh tiebreaker against the gargantuan welterweight-sized lightweight.

I know these boxers love to do some twist to make the fanbase go crazy but this is out of the line. It will just make those who will bet for him worry that he ain't focus.

Possible, but Ryan said that he is comfortable with that one and that at fight night he usually weight around 146 lbs++. So maybe in their fight, he will have to just make sure that he is on the right weight. It's more on the liquid that he needs to cut though and after the weight in he can go back and drink and rehydrate some. Will not be a big problem I guess.

I like how they are looking in the future, like Haney or maybe Shakur if he become the next name fighters in their division.

But let's see how this fight goes, although Tank is the favorite, Ryan can change the course of this fight with just one punch, in my opinion.

He really think if the amateur fights are same like a professional fight Cheesy

It's make sense if he already beat Tank, but the fact he haven't, his plan is too far and it could ruin his life if he not achieve it. There's no odds swing, so majority still think Tank will beat Garcia. The fight will happen on the next month, hope there's no excuse about injury or something like that.

That's how cocky Ryan Garcia is as a boxer. Many people dislike boxers who behave that way, but if he can justify his actions, then it's okay. In fact, it adds some excitement to the sport as Garcia is very vocal about challenging the best fighters. However, he has to take care of Tank Davis first, which I think will be a tough job.

But that's how it is though, the head of WBC is Mexican and so is Canelo, so you can't discount the fact that they are giving them a lot of freebies or granting him extra entitlement. So admit it or not, there is some affiliation within their organization.

And there are mandatories that are not even followed by some boxers in WBC.

The only thing why John Ryder is an being pick because he is not a big threat to Canelo.

If I'm not mistaken, Comney made the weight so this is still a go. However, It will be hard pressed for Richard to win against Ramirez in my opinion. But I was just surprised by the odds though, he is 7:1 underdog now, I thought it will be closer.

In any case, Ramirez is a former champion and a lot of good fights in 140 lbs, specially against Josh Taylor and I think it is very close. It's not he doesn't have the tools to go full 12 rounds, hard full rounds against Taylor that's why he lost his belt. But against Comney, it might be an easy fight for him. I still want to see him and Prograis, both are durable and tough.
