So I’m not at all surprised that you’re reacting this way, it’s just a Nigerian thing. Thank God Adele-Bashiru scored the winning goal. Libya were wasting time before we scored, I think they were hoping for a draw.

Anyways at the end of the day Nigeria won the game by a slim 1-0 and I must say I'm disappointed but also not surprised because it's Nigeria and they are good at disappointing fans. Imagine when you're expecting bucket loads of goals being that the visitors are not up to their standards yet they just give the lone goal and were looking satisfied by it.
 2 total shots and none on target should tell one how weak Libya are but yet Nigeria couldn't capitalize on it and I'm quite bothered by how most of the internationally based players find it hard to perform for their country the way they do at their clubs.

I was not happy about Nigeria's super eagle performance today, Ive not yet seen any improvement from the national team considering how they were pressured by a minion team like Libya in their home. I saw how Nigeria struggled to net a goal with the help of Bashiru when they had all the opportunity to score the team with much goal difference. Nigeria end up losing their chances to later score a goal and be happy. Is this how we envisage winning the world cup when till date we fail woefully in the continental championship like AFCON. We really need to wake up guys.

You sound funny mate, what is making you to have the dreams that Nigeria will win the world cup. I am not saying that it is impossible but maybe that will not be during our generation because there are a lot of countries out there that are pretty good, well coordinated with good coaches, and superstars. Nigeria should rhink of winning the AFCON back to back first, after also qualify easily to the world cup before we can start having hopes of winning the world cup.

If we are to talk about dominance, Nigeria dominated every aspect of the game from the beginning till end. Super eagle were actually unlucky with the goals but the performance was impressive. I hope you noticed how Libya team was defending through out the game as if they came for the draw. No matter how good your team is, you can not easily penetrate into your opponent box when more than half of their squad are there defending. Moreover, super eagle doesn't have a reliable striker and it make things worse and difficult to convert chances. Victor Boniface is more of a supporting striker than playing the role of a striker. Wingers efforts wasted as there is no one to make good use of those crosses.

Have a look at the stats of the match and you can see how super eagle dominate every single aspect of the game.

In these competitions, what matters is getting the three points. Nobody will remember the dribbling or tiki taka you played during the game, history will only remember those who won trophies. It doesn’t matter if they won it playing boring style of football. The Super Eagles dominated the game, we had the most ball possession but all this things is useless without goals. We had control of the game but we could not get a goal until the final quarter of the second half. I know a lot of Nigerians would be calling for a new coach if we had drawn against Lybia.

The problem with African players comparing to European and American ones are the lack of consistency and the stability in terms of performance. I mean whenever a player pop up in a season and do good, he just fade the season after and become a normal player or even worse.
Nigerian players aren't any different. Same goes for Tunisia, they were playing randomly and Comoros were at the point of adding another goal at least while they were plenty of defenders against one attacker..

But in today's game they were able to win their game against Libya even if they weren't playing a very tough game, I didn't like that fact that they won by one goal alone but very importantly they won the game , Libya isn't a tough team enough, they shouldn't be struggling with winning them even with their performance they weren't looking like equals to Nigeria but then Nigeria wasn't and hasn't been able to really play really good with a very level of confidence that ensues brilliance in their performance.

It’s something Nigerian players haven’t been able to acculturate into our local football and I mean at the international level. It’s so bad that it even corrupts players in the local leagues and you could find them doing the same at the international level once called upon.
They know football have changed from the times when you need to be more fashionable and display a lot of skill on the pitch to be, fast games, accurate passes and getting the ball on target. That’s where we are now and these guys need to be more professional than looking for validation in individual excellence, it’s not helping. They need to see way pass that for the greater good and glory.

I don’t think it was luck. That’s a incorrect way to react to the match. The Super Eagles were not the underdogs in the match so how can they be the lucky ones. A team can be said to be lucky when the odds are against them and they managed to win or draw the game. Nigeria was by a long shot the better team today, we had more possession of the ball and more shots on target than our opponent Libya. We should have converted our chances and taken advantage of the fact that we are playing a weaker team. I saw the score sheet of South Africa vs Congo, and it pains me that Nigeria could not win comfortably at home against a weak teams

No doubt there should be enough room for possible improvement but today's game wasn't bad enough to call the coaches incapable of managing or the players not playing as expected. Football is not an easy game, they played brilliantly today even if they were unable to account for enough goals but their dominance in the game was brightly felt. Our keeper today barely touched the ball or made any possible saves because you see every player defend and try to recover the ball when lost.

I supposed the coach should do more job on the strikers because they lack finishing which always put them behind, i can count a few missed opportunities that would have been an easy goal but they were wrongly placed or shot with no target. Our defense and midfield looked outstanding today, no doubt i see a bit of improvement, we just have to wait for our next game and hope they perform better this time.

It’s a controversial call. I looked at the video again and I’m not so sure it was an off-side. I’m happy we got all three points if not the discussion on this thread tonight would have been very sour. We would be crying that we were robbed especially since in most of the games played today the home team won their games convincingly. We really need to stop this 1 nil victory culture that this set of players have adopted. We had these kind of results under Peseiro and we sacked him. I don’t expect the same results from Eguavoen.

Do we have anything impressive to say about the performance of the Super Eagles in the first half? All they did was to give the visitors enough time to hang on the ball and if this Libya guys have any chance I believe they'll utilize it and that would be a problem for the Eagles. Is as if we can't control the ball down to the opposition 18 yard box and get a goal, I think the wingers need to do more as well as the left and right back, their crosses are not impressive enough and it makes the attacker look weak in the box. Hopefully the second half they can get something positive.

To be honest brother, this game wasn't interesting to even watch the highlight again, it was disappointing performance let's forget about the goal, Super Eagles are lacking so many things when it comes to creating chances and making use of them. Take a good look at Germany whenever they are in front of goal they make the goalkeeper save or concede and that's how a team that have one of the best attacking lines should be doing. Our best position is the attack but we are playing as if that position is our major problem, the Super Eagles are lucky to get a goal and if it happens that we were a goal down we would have been struggling to equalize and even end the game in a draw, to me the display was too poor.

These strikers are prolific for their clubs, why do they look mediocre when playing for the Super Eagles? Here are the outcome for today games (showing yesterday on images because of my timezone). The Nigeria - Libya game was kind of boring and I don't understand what was the Libya goalie doing fainting always, their players were also in on the time wasting tactics.

The time wasting tactics was horrible and wasn't proffeisonal or do they think it is the finals that's being played. Bad referring from the officiate too and having to wait untill the 80th+ minute before I could celebrate a goal we terrible.

I didn't expect too many attacks from Libya in this game though because they were never a threat to Nigeria but atleast they tried and almost got a draw from the game.  I don't know why I didn't go ahead with my bets because I had it already ticked as goalless draws for the first half but it was the odd that discouraged me.

Good game from Cameroon, Benin, Senegal, South Africa and Ivory coast. Thanks to them for bringing the goals to the show, wished I watch those games instead of the Nigeria game.

Even if Africa will stand a chance of winning the world cup in centuries to come, it is never going to be Nigeria that will win it first. Anyone having this dream that Nigeria will win the world cup should better put that deam to rest. Nigeria will not win the world cup, at least not in the next 100 years. These sets of players don't have the winning mentality. They are just coming to the national team to make up the numbers and show their fans that they are also representing the national team. Just imagine the rubbish they played against Libya is that what you will use and win world cup? Let's just support them as our national team, but let's not expect anything from these players. They don't play with dedication, because deep down in their minds they know that they are not winning anything. Very controversial indeed and you're right, if we hadn't gotten any goal the topic would have been how the ref deprived us of a goal and not how badly we failed to turn out chances.
 Another truth concerning Peseiro. He delivered with the resources given to him but I guess it wasn't enough for the NFF and I'm hoping they don't get tired of Eguavoen when he delivers below expectations. Besides he said it himself that if they need good results, they'd have to exercise patience and give him time.

Bro, it is just unfortunate that we have lost hope in the performance of Nigeria's national football team, yet we claim to be the giant of Africa. But we always belittle our own potentials. Bro, we have the potentials, the talents and the numbers. We have world ranking players or better put, we've always had world ranking players and hardly does a season or to say the least, a decade passes by without having one Nigerian player appear in the top 10 list of players. We have players performing well across all the European leagues but when they come back home, they become irrelevant and incapacitated.

I remember the incident of Yakubu Aiyegbeni in the last World Cup we thought we could achieve great results yet Yakubu was one of the top performers in the club side. Same with Osimhen and other several players to mention. But you know what? I know the problem Nigerian players face and it is tied to the lack of political will that the team lacks to triumph. There's no favorable working environment and people oftentimes forget that a good working environment contributes 70% to the development and performance of players. Hence the Nigerian government through the NFF haven't shown their own path to motivate the team to fruition.

And oh yes, the Nigerian team have the capacity to win world cups and as a matter of time, Nigeria will surely take that trophy. But it requires a lot of deliberate efforts from the side of the management team to win that trophy. Nigeria was able to defeat other countries and won the maiden FIFA U-17 in China in 1985 becoming the first African team to win gold medal Olympics in football. If we can break that record then and still break more afterwards, why don't we think we can do more this time around. We only need a strong leadership who is ready to take that responsibility towards achieving such giant stride and boom, we will triumph.

The problem was that the Libyans had a good plan for the game. They just want to keep defending and wasting time. Playing with such kind of team is risky because if they get a goal, it will be difficult to equalize. So the Super Eagles had to attack cautiously to avoid mistakes.

The absence of Victor Osimhen was felt because he has the strength and influence to push defenders, which could result in more goal-scoring chances. But I think Moses Simon was a threat to the Knights' defense which shows that every Nigerian player can put up a good performance at any given time.

I am not too bothered about the goal margin as long as they win games. But this doesn't mean that I don't also want a goal feast. A win in Benghazi will guarantee Nigeria's qualification and the NFF will have to decide on Eguavoen's future.

Actually that is what I was reasoning yesterday when I saw the 1 zero full time. because looking at the Super Eagles players performances in their Domestic clubs and their scoring patterns I think they are doing very well, though the most annoying part of them is that any time that they are playing for Super Eagles they normally find it so difficult in scoring goals which is very annoying more especially Ademola Lookman if am not mistaking he normally score goals for Atalanta almost every game but when it comes to Super Eagles their scoring system changes. However, just like as you have said I think the big boys really need to practice more game together to enable them do more better.

Do you mean Victor Boniface? Well, I don't know if he wasn't in a good mood before that game but he wasn't playing like the normal Victor Boniface we see and watch play for Bayern Leverkusen. How is that not a goal scored by Ademola Lookman? Why do I feel like I'm not the only one that thinks that CAF is trying to raise an agenda against Ademola Lookman? This is not the first game I have seen him score and they ruled off the goal to be offside. I'm still rooting for him nevertheless to win the African Best Player when the time comes, he definitely deserves it over any other player.
