I just hope they will work with this coach for a very longtime because the changing of coach in a short time is not really necessary, I know they have reasons for changing of coach but it also has it own negative effect. Every coach has it own system and the players needs to adapt to it and sometimes it is not very easy for players to get use to a coach so quick. Changing of coach from time to time can really affect the performance of the players.

The NFF needs to make a good decision and retain a coach that will stay for a long time and work with the players, this is one of the way in making the team better and to think of winning trophies.

My thoughts too, there are a lot of factors why a team might not win a match, it's not necessarily the coach's fault. I really find this unfair that when a team is not winning, they blame it on the coach and then change the coach. Simply put, coaches' work is at stake all the time. Also, this thing when a team doesn't like a coach, they can play badly and get the coach removed, it just doesn't make any sense. There are a lot of reasons - even the players not playing well or the referees playing dirty.

A team needs to get used to their coach, get used to their strategy, be able to play uniformly and naturally. This changing of coaches up and down will affect them. We are looking for a win, and the Nigeria team is not even making it easy at all. I really didn't like the whole idea of changing coaches now. even though in some instances, the players might be at fault as to why they lost certain games but we all know that in modern football, a good coach has what it takes to make the very best out of any team that might be in their poorest of form and that a bad coach can change formation that will lead to losses for the club he manages. we are lovers of football and can comfortably point out a lot of clubs that a good coach has made better and how a bad coach has equally spoilt some other clubs.

the players only play to the instruction of the coach and if the players don't like the coach or the coach doesn't have the capacity of leading some kind of players, it is going to be difficult for him to make certain tough decision in times when the team is struggling, and these are little things that makes a difference in the performance of players. the Nigerian national is not a club that plays too frequently together, they come at the time for business and needs a strong hand that has what it takes to give us the required result within a short span of time and that demands a level of experience from the coach which seems missing in this new coach we are to work with at the moment.

we don't have a choice as he will have to prove all the skeptics wrong and like we all know, what we need most is a coach that can do a magic and give us a ticket to the world cup or give us a good AFCON outing, if he can do those, then that will be wonderful.

They need to find the root cause of their bad performances. It can be bad coaching or some other reason (like some players may not be performing well), and this needs to be addressed. Sometimes, keeping the same coach or players will not help resolve the issues and problems in the team. But if changing the coach did not make any good progress in the team, then it doesn't make sense to keep on changing the coaches. If a team does that it would mean that are just trying to put all the blame on coaches.

If someone comes up to tell me that they lobby for the coaching position in the NFF, I would actually believe. Is this the coach we have been waiting for? Nigerians will drag him like a petrol generator if we don't win our next game under him very comfortably.

As usual, I am not expecting much from the new coach and, by extension, no longer expecting much from the Super Eagles. Regardless of the big players we have, I have lowered my expectations from the team.

The new coach will earn about $50,000 per month which is far above what any Nigerian coach has ever earned coaching the national team. I will not be surprised that he is sharing this amount with some top officials in the NFF.

With the appointment of a coach who is less qualified than some of our indigenous coaches, I am not also expecting any meaningful improvement in the Super Eagles. Except there is a miracle or the new coach knows what we dont, the national team is indeed in a big mess. Some players will not be happy with this appointment and the Malin might end up losing the support of some top players.

Nowadays, many players are just playing for the money and not passion for what they like doing. Since many players salaries are based on there previous clubs, medals, salary and achievements, we keep seeing new players and the young ones going to play in big clubs than will offer them a good pay even though their input in the club will not be well recognized.

If players can understand much about their passion as a player, many would have to go back to their previous clubs that was paying them less just to create a name and let people know of their great input in the club. We keep seeing new players, longing to play in a big club so that they can get recognized and offered a huge salary. Firm and been one of the reasons why many players choose football has their main concentration.

On seeing that the NFF just recently appointed a new coach to replace Austin Eguavoen, i had to do some search about him and found his managerial stats, which is on the image above. From the records he's kept, i don't think he's the rght person for the job, he's not had a good significant record nor won a trophy and has been sacked mostly, in the previous teams he's coached, i don't think he's better than Eguavoen, left for me i think they've made a poor decision cause they should've hired someone that's more better and experienced than Austin Eguavoen, i doubt if Sékou Chelle would be able to handle the big boys in the Super Eagles, the likes of Osimhen, Iheanacho, Ndidi etc. The question is can stand the pressure that comes with coaching the Super Eagles or lead them to qualify for the World Cup? Eguavoen was having a good run and even if the NFF needed a replacement, it should've been someone with a better experience and record not Éric Sékou Chelle.

This is one of the reasons why a lot of us have lost faith in the leadership of the NFF, their quick-getaway have always been questionable right from time, there was a time when Coach Goran Erikson revealed how the NFF contacted him for a job offer and when they got talking he discovered that they were requesting for kick backs, so he got up angrily and left the meeting. 

They wanted him to accept a certain amount as payment whereas he would be recieving a different amount entirely, now the issue here is that these corrupt officials of the NFF are looking for every avenue to steal funds and the appointment of the so-called new coach of the Super Eagles is one them.

They picked a classless coach who doesn't even have any history in African football and made him coach to the detriment of Nigerian football fan, I do not want to sound as am castigating but am not expecting anything from this guy because I feel he doesn't have anything to offer.

Just like you, the first thing I did after it was announced that Sékou Chelle have been appointed as the manager pf the national team of Nigeria was to go check his past records, compare him with the former coaches of the Super Eagles and came to conclusion that he actually doesn't deserve the appointment. The Nigeria Football Federation once again have made another big error and considering the backlash they've been receiving from fans since that announcement, it's obvious that majority aren't happy with the decision.

It's clear, most footballers are not even playing to how much was spent on them. The passion is missing, the ability to work for the huge sum being paid is nothing to talk about. The Super Eagles are made of world class players, whatever bad performance we experience can be traced to coaches and less time to strategies along a permanent coach.

The coaches are all to blame at worst and likely to get the applause when his team is on their best performance, coach like Pep we can't deny how good he is, has done it with different clubs not just Mancity, if any team under his management fails to be progressive then fault is detected from the players. In the case of United, i don't think the coach is even to be blamed after changing several coaches, i see the squads but to some extent there is still some lacking with how they make good use of goal scoring opportunities and that has brought them great downfall.

Well the thing is that our hope's are not all that hyped up with this new appointment and more over we are used to the whole corruption play that has infested the NFF  so the new coach splitting this huge pay with some of the top guys in the ministry will also be no suprise for me too. For all what am concerned about is that the results should just follow up with the pay that follow him if not I know Nigerians very well he will for sure regret even taken up the job.

I so much agree with you because for sure a coach has so much responsibility, the coach is expected to bring out the best from his players,  that is why if a player is not performing well the coach is expected to change the player and bring someone else that can play the game better.

When a team is not doing well the first person everyone will call out to fault will be the coach that is why when a team is not doing well, the management of the team keeps bringing new coaches from time to time until they get someone that is different from every other coach in the past. Some coach are given good opportunity to get the players they think will be good , this should be an opportunity should be use wisely and coach who already have players should select players based on performance and shouldn't choose players based on relationships, this is one of the things that affected the former Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag.

If you want to be blaming players for the mistake of a club more frequently than you’re blaming the manager, then there will be no point in having a manager to manage a team in the first instance. This is how football is designed to be and the leader is always the one that takes the most blame for the predicament of its team, so they’ll always be blamed and that will only encourage them to do better as a manager in order to avoid being sacked by the team. The case of Manchester United and Manchester City can still be blamed on the coach because only them knows better the player that needs to be replaced and get the best out of their games. If they continue fielding those players, it’ll only become big problem for them, but actually it’s the work of the manager to make the team better and successful in their matches.

I was thinking they would have automatically given Augustine eguavoen the job given to his recent performance for the team. Nigerians don't respect Nigeria made things so this too could be among the reasons we don't give our own a chance at proving to us what they're capable of doing. I always expected this exact move by the NFF for them to hire a foreign coach but them choosing an African wasn't expected and I think it has never happened before that the top nation chooses another African coach over theirs.

This decision by NFF is either going to make or break the norms in the continent. Maybe other African coaches will begin to see breakthrough with other nations that isn't theirs.

Mali sacked him but he wasn't that bad as a manager, only that mali didn't have it in them. The supper eagles have most of the right players in their respective position so let see what he can do with the players he has at his disposal instead of doubting him already. I think this might turn out better than people are assuming.

We can't do anything about it now, our NNF have made their decision and we will hold them accountable if the foreign coach doesn't take us to the world cup. I think that at this point our focus should be on the qualifications of the super eagles to the world cup, if the foreign coach is able to achieve it, that means that we will look beyond sentiments and applaud him, this is because failure is a bastard, when you win people will forget about skepticism. If Finidi, had performed we wouldn't be talking about a foreign coach, that doesn't mean that he and Eguavon, are bad coaches, but in football it's results that counts.

If they go by the payment each players was signed and their contribution on the team, they would certainly ask some of them for some refunds because we have seen a lot of players that was spent so much on being outperformed by the ones they spent less on, though I will not say it was because of how they care less of the club growth because they wouldn't want to have an infamous reputation but just unfortunate they could not helped themselves. However I'm waiting patiently for the CAF Qualification to start and we are located in the group C of the league featured by six strong clubs but just like always we will outshine the group.
