Yeah.
Maybe a little recap for everyone who believes in crypto long term and is a little confused about investing. (Fair warning: I do acknowledge that there may be persuasive objections to these ideas and will apologize if you can compel me to admit I'm wrong...)

2 things, Mintpal and VRC's future:

First, apparently, Mintpal was hacked. Cryptocommunity needs to figure out how to deal with exchanges ASAP. So,
 - Do you know who runs mintpal.
 - If you can call Mintpal.
 - How long will Mintpal remain silent for... how long was it now...
 - Hear the non-trading debate buzz. Decentralized "purists" vs centralized bailouts, etc....
 - Did you follow the debate of the last hacks. The state of their exchanges compare to say. idk... etrade?
 - Do you see the bigger picture that the problem is crypto is still too young... (and exchanges are a particularity bad problem)..

Point is: You see the cryptocircus we call discussion around here, right? Literally and virtually, Billions and Billions of communication failures. Touching a lot of nerves. As a cryptocommunity, we had our sensitivities disturbed by the obvious gap in professionalism between the tools we have to use crypto now and the tools to use fiat.

So as far as the demand for general stabilization and growth of the cryptomarket, those tools will be built and VRC is an investment in that future...

You can DYOR and find for yourself that they were the victim of a theft but uniquely restored and then is beginning to maintain their healthy momentum. The VRC team had to deal with a mufukn cryptocrime -- they did it successfully and saved their cryptoeconomy --- and it looks due to move forward, like it has since it started, with the paradigm of crypto, just as before the hack. In other words, we can put enough trust in this investment and understand the VRC teams understands crypto.

All the time. This debate's going on, where people try to explain thoughts the size of oceans and concentrate them into little 140 character or less cups... while you see, at the same time... VRC, a young under-valued/underdeveloped coin survived and made a healthy recovery from an attack by using sci-fi crypto technology quickly. The team is obviously serious (maybe not Wiz), putting a lot of effort into understanding this strange altmarket monster and are apparently now moving along as a crypto-community with the most important factor in the altrace: active/responsive dev's that are focused on making a well-rounded, approachable and secure coin more like a cryptobusiness than a circus.

---

Second, VRC's professional future is in the leading pack of altcoins.

VRC continues to act professionally, ahead of the crowd-mentality, but also, wisely ahead of the bigger picture. This community and the VRC team anticipates the , the demand deeper questions the cryptocommunity is going to be concerned about for the next few months. Questions not just about cryptocurrency trading or less controversial subjects...

...but questions about the whole spectrum of debates about cryptocrime to cryptotechnology to cryptotrading to cryptoeconomics to cryptopsychology to cryptosociology to cryptopolitics to cryptorevolution to cryptolifeordeath to cryptophilosophy and so on down the rabbit holes...  (One example being @effects to cause's tweet about decentralized exchanges)...

They know where the altcommunity is heading. They know where the serious, sensible altcommunity investors are headed... they're running away from the cryptocriminal circus and looking to bridge the gap between crypto and the real world. But most of all, they want to listen to us.

They understand what we want and working their fucking asses off to support their coin. While, others are planning their next 100k+ schemecoin.

As far as VRC's future, VRC's vision is set and they're showing signs of progress after preserving the momentum of an attack. Again as the saying goes, DYOR, these are my opinions, subject to change, etc...

But personally, I've been impressed the past few days. We are still in uncharted crypto, but most signs (besides misundertsood/misinformed FUD "signs" addressed through out this thread and simple application of logic) seem positive, right now. VRC is looking well-supported on the charts, VRC community internally (among smart investors and smart money) are active and growing and VRC is looking well supported by its creators who are most importantly, positioning themselves to grow with their community and into wider markets.

I bet VRC. Questions are welcome.

FUDsters, I'll see you lunatics from the moon while I'll observe with my fellow investors from a more profitable perspective.

Quote from: MAD945's sig
"VERICOIN THE COIN THAT PULLS A ROLLBACK TO SAVE THE COIN AND ITS INVESTORS BECAUSE THE DEVS CARE ABOUT CRYPTO AND FIGHTS AGAINST THEFT"

MAD945, in your sig, you need to remove the "i" to properly spell "theft"

So I think I've correctly updated the mac wallet to the correct versions.

I've sent 1 VRC from my Mintpal account to my wallet and it still hasn't show up roughly 1 hour leter. I also dont see a record of the transaction in the block chain explorer. Am I on the correct fork?

Cheers =)

If it isn't on the explorer, it just means that Mintpal has it queued for a send on some kind of interval, or they messed up and you need to open a ticket.

Make sure you're using this explorer: http://chainz.cryptoid.info/vrc/

should have let the thief keep the coins..

why is MintPal VRC's problem ?
you think they care about you ? your ass will be delisted in an instant when ever they want (when the coin loses popularity) lol

i don't like certain aspects of this coin i have said else where and it was summarized a couple comments back so..
days ago i grabbed a few VRC and i already seem to be in the profit side LOL
why ? i had coins on BTER and wanted my BTC working for me on some other coin but didn't know what to choose
and i picked it because nothing else looked better or hyped up..

i will add again a good point.. i have said in crypto before.
at least this coin is *trying
a lot better than just a blatant scam clone coin !
i give em credit for that but i do have to consider does some aspects of this coin set a bad precedent ?
Fork roll backs and centralization issues and pointless Bitcoin integration of sorts ?
Sorry but i don't see this as a coin i want to take part in long term for those reasons.
And i have no proof but i personally think it's plausible this coin was created just to make another coin.
it's features that make it different were added at their core to say "we're different" ?

no way for me to know if the dev here didn't make 100 before and will make 100 more..
the bottom line is a new coin comes along every few minutes and we keep getting told this is THE one..
then the next one says the same damn thing lol

FUD first & ask questions later™

Ok cheers, perhaps i'm being a bit impatient. I'll wait a bit longer and if it still doesn't show up I'll open a ticket with Mintpal.

Thanks again.

P.s yes I was using that explorer =)

Just because it's "easier" doesn't make it easy. This vulnerability is well known but has yet to happen in reality.

in theory: almost impossible
in practice (a.k.a. real life): impossible

If you are not sure about something, don´t make it sound like it is a certainty.

Since I'm not a developer nor a hacker I cant modify wallets to do such an attack, but here's the concept, which may not be right, but crackers may try. (...)

i have that too. But its all normal i wait until my wallet syncs up and then i can use it.

Please notice that the green synchronisation bar is not there anymore but instead a notice from the devs to make sure you download the 1.3.3 wallet.

You can see the progress of the synchronisation by hovering over the arrow circle at the buttom right on the wallet window.

Also i download the android wallet pretty nice !! Cheesy Verbit function solution is also good implemented.

I had this warning also a few days ago and it freaked me out at the beginning, was thinking my vericoins were being hacked like MP's. Then later I realised it was because an information was being sent to all wallets for the newest version. It was a message telling to get the 1.3.3 version.

Cause of this coin's infinite coin age, it's easier to kill using this vulnerability.

VeriCoin does not have "infinite" age but rather finite. Look at the code Smiley. In addition, your attack vector works on coins with very low network stake weight as well as very very long coin age, however, the probability that you would hit 6 blocks in a row before others with less than 30% of the network stake with a 9 million network stake weight (current) is minimal. And of course attacking would then blow your entire coinage and reduce it to nothing again making you have to wait another year to attempt to attack again.

Finally, no matter how it's argued, the supernodes would not checkpoint your blocks because of auto checkpointing which is done every block on the current longest block. So you can't fork off 10 blocks behind after you spent to try to beat out the current chain.

Until auto sync checkpointing is disabled, your attack vector is useless.

Support the VeriFund Endowment.

Booked a hotel using Veribit Smiley

Rather than go through Expedia, got a "Global Hotel Card" used eGifter (this is also available on Gyft).  eGifter right now is offering 3% off the purchase of the gift card when using Veribit, and 3% additional points toward next purchase Smiley

Quick and speedy, everything went through smooth.
nice i will deff look into that now i have never heard of that place does it work for hotels in the usa?

https://globalhotelcard.com/ is powered by Orbitz, works just like Expedia, Hotwire, etc.

eGifter and Gyft are both gift card dealers that have awesome Android and iPhone apps.  I used Gyft a lot more, I love the app, for little things like Steak n Shake, Burger King, etc.   Both sites/apps offer a lot of categories and a lot of places.  Recently though I have made the switch to eGfiter, as you can't beat 3% off AND 3% your next purchase (6% total basically) when you use Bitcoin.    Thus using Vericoin with Veribit, things are a win win win.   I highly suggest getting both apps, Gyft is much prettier and organized imo, but eGifter has a better deal right now, and also accepts Litecoin and Dogecoin.
So i checked out that link kinda made me worried how simple the site looked, but they do seem to be good i will keep them in mind for my vacation in september Smiley

@yoroyrobin 335,000+ followers

He has already tweeted about vericoin in the past. He mentioned he will keep tweeting about VRC for some donations. That is quite a lot of followers! Pretty cool stuff.

that is a pretty large number of twitter followers question is how many of those are real people and of those who are real do they even care about crypto like VRC? I wonder how much of " donation " he wants and what information he gives out when whe tweets?

Their followers are fake. No reason to give them any attention.
so they are fake? well thatnk you for answering that question for me. While even a little press is good it does no good if it goes to fake people lol
