Note to underperforming S3 owners:
I have one S3 that was underperforming at ~420 Gh, i tried to 'boost" it up by moving to 225mhz-no change, but no high errors either. So, i flashed with todays firmware-and it jumped to 455-457Gh, WU 6450-6470 Conclusion: NEW firmware is beneficial to at least some underperforming ants allright, Bitmain! Thanks
Don't get too excited, same here but after 8 hours I'm back down to 414.00 local, 401 pool-side.

Next question to bitmain will batch 4 have the new firmware?
I rather not do the update to firmware. Hate to brick it.

So i was just taking a look at the cgminer process on the S3.
855 root 33840 R cgminer --bitmain-options 115200:32:8:18:218.75:1106 -o stratum+tcp://xxx.xxxxxxxx.xxx:3333 -O xxxx.xxxx:x -o stratum+tcp://xxx.xxxxxxx.xxx:3333 -O xxxxx.xxxxxxx:x --api-listen --api-network --bitmain-checkn2diff --bitmain-hwerror --queue 4096
I'm mostly interested in the --queue 4096. Most pools tell their miners to set the queue to 0 or 1.
Thoughts?
Bump for thoughts on --queue 4096

May I ask what frequency you are running in the new firmware? Just take the defaults? I upgraded to the new firmware also on both my S3s. So far one I have a solid 440G, the other one doesn't look as hot at 420Gh/s and bouncing around. Maybe I need to give it some time.

Not really helping mine. If I OC I can get a good hash rate for a while but eventually it just tanks and over time the average floats down to really pathetic levels. If I leave it at stock it hits 400-410 and that's it. These things are really temperamental and I am very underwhelmed. Especially after having dealt with the S1's which were just so solid. Reboots cause random x's and -'s in the gui and occasionally mine will come out of a reboot and think it has no blades at all and never start hashing until I reboot again. That stuff is just weird and annoying.

Bought two more S3's from Batch 5 this morning but soon after got a message from Bitmain saying:
"You have bought B1~B3 of S3. We will issue you a 10% value coupon. However, you have the option to give up the coupon and apply a 7.7% refund..."
But I bought from Batch 5 - any ideas on this one..??

Bump for thoughts on --queue 4096 I mine on p2pool. This morning I flashed the new firmware and set the options for --queue 0 --expiry 1 --scan-time 1. I'll report back later with any changes (good or bad) that I notice. Prior to making these changes, I saw ~440GH/s on one S3 with exceptionally low HW errors, WU about 6200 on stock clocks. The other S3 refuses to even hash properly at stock clocks, so I run it at 212.5. With that I get ~430GH/s, very low HW errors, WU about 6100.

Figured out how to tell which Firmware version you are currently on. Look at the Kernel Log, the end of the first line. Before I re-flashed ir read "#134 Fri Jul 11", after the flash it was "#140 Mon Jul 21" And the corresponds with the date in the name of the flash file. antMiner_S320140721.bin

Hey,
Does anyone know if its possible to monitor your ants from another location?
I'm going on holiday soon and I wanna be able to monitor them.
I know about team viewer, and that is one option, but that means leaving my PC on the whole time.
Thanks
The only way to access them that I know of is Team Viewer or Logmein or similar. Yes - it does require leaving your PC on. You can bookmark them in google, then you can log in remotely from another google/android device. Also If you are using slush, then you can bookmark the slush page as well, then view your workers.

1) yeah take the coupon and use it to buy more from batch 5. 2) maybe batch 5 is going to issue coupons. 3) did you only order from batch 5 no 1 ,2, 3 or 4? lastly has anyone only ordered from batch 5? if so did they get a coupon sent.

Thanks for the replies, i`ll give the google method a try!
I`ve just flashed the Ants with the latest firmware and so far, both units are doing 443 gh\s (2 hours in).
Even the one which would only do 420-430gh\s before. So, it can`t just be the beeping that they changed?

Another unit was doing 440 GH/s and now it is doing 427 GH/s. Not sure what changed but that is kinda weird. All the units have been running for 3 hours since I flashed them.

Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong 07/25/2014 4:35 P.M. We've missed the scheduled transfer time. This may cause a delay. Shenzhen, China 07/25/2014 10:40 A.M. Departure Scan 07/25/2014 1:56 A.M. Arrival Scan 07/25/2014 1:36 A.M. Departure Scan Shenzhen, China 07/24/2014 11:15 A.M. Origin Scan China 07/21/2014 3:50 A.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS
UPS are shit, Why didn't Bitmain use DHL?
It took UPS 3 fucking days to even pick it up, Then they cant make their own scheduled delivery time, Pathetic company.
-.-
From the Antminer S3 Batch 4 you have an option to select your favourite shipping company. You can choose from the list of DHL, UPS, EMS. Selecting via EMS will make more delay and trouble in clearing customs. DHL is fast and they charge more brokerage than UPS. Why selecting EMS will make more delay and trouble in clearing customs??. Im from Madrid, spain, and when i ordered using UPS i had to pay customs. When i ordered in the past, 5 times to "taobao", a website for buying clothes and so on, all 5 packages from china, with an estimate weight of 7-8Kgs / package, each of those 5 times, i used EMS, takes longer to arrive, but i NEVER had to pay customs. So i dont know why you say EMS is a bad option. In worst case scenario, you will also pay what you would pay with UPS or DHL, because i suppose with DHL you pay customs too, but my experience ordering with EMS, packages of 7-8 kgs full of clothes, shoes, etc is that they never stopped them and i never had to pay customs. Lets see what happens. I ordered another 2 S3 from batch 4, using EMS

They will call you personally for customs clearance office. Then will sent the packet to your address from there. Extra burden, more time consuming. Depends on the country we belong to. I feels very comfortable with UPS than EMS. DHL I like the most even though its a bit more costly.

What version of CGMiner is it now running? cgminer 3.12.0-1 Is it possible to update Cgminer outside of the Bitmain firmware updates? I thought I remembered this coming up with the S1's and the answer was yes. I do find it odd that my S1's are runnig cgminer 3.8.5-1 and the 3's are still on 3.12.0-1. I have updated the firmware on two units but I can't even find anywhere on the software page that any versions are different. I do have one unit clocked at 237.5 that seems to like it... 1 hour average 475Ghs WU 6639 but my Accepted and Discarded seem off, as others have reported. I am also not registering any best share on any of my six S3's but I know they are working because my earnings are in line with the estimates for how much I am throwing. Still waiting for Bitmain to process my refund as well. There is about 5hrs. until the next difficulty jump. I like how the estimate has been steadily coming down for the last two days. We could see another jump in the 6-7% range which would be awesome. Happy hashing all.
