I`m no "Bitcoin 2.0" expert, but Ethereum and Via sounds like bullshit, as Via does what Ethereum is supposed to be doing, right? So they`d be basically saying "we are useless, we use Viacoin now" or am I completely wrong?

So, some big name in the crypto industry is going to be adopting Via. You can probably guess at big names. Coinbase? GoCoin? Bitpay? Moolah? Are there other big names?
