-[ANNOUNCEMENT (of sad things that may/should have been obvious)]-

I think, at this point... I'm going to go ahead and call it out...

LTCgear, I believe, will not come back to operational status. They were a ponzi, and they've finally reached the point that they can no longer continue...

There are multiple reasons (for me in particular, and many others...) that this is very upsetting... I personally lost more than I'd like to comment on. Some people I know lost a very serious amount, this is very upsetting news for quite a few people, no matter how "obvious" it should have been to everyone.

We all take gambles in the game we all play called crypto, and this particular one, definitely didn't pay off. Sadly.

Yea, they're still dragging it out on their website, but LTCgear is going under, they're over 3 weeks without payments, and it's clear that "Chris" is likely long, long gone.

Hopefully there will be a lawsuit (I will join for sure.) if we can find him, but you know, not even sure if we can do anything. Let alone find him.

another sadness...

The following BURST assets, are affected...

1. Asset BLPTS (long term price support project) - based on LTCgear mining. Thus destroyed (or possibly changed? I don't know, Nevril will likely post an update when he comes to the same inevitable conclusion I have.)

2. ByteGear (Byte Enterprises' asset also fully based on LTCgear mining.) - Destroyed. (ByteGear will be destroyed, if not only just for the name. Legitimate BURST cloud mining operations will take it's place, soon. Those will be fully provable with both mining addresses, and pictures, videos, whatever people want. Once that happens, I will post announcements.)

I sincerely apologize to all that lost money on this, I myself lost quite a bit, and this is very upsetting, losing my hard and early earned BURST, and mostly all my other mined and bought crypto...

a sincere lesson to me to not only just buy hardware for mining... but never keep too much in a single investment, no matter what it is.

I'm sure this has been asked many times but this thread is huge. I'm currently using the dev's miner for the dev's V2 pool but I'm looking into upgrading to blaggo's miner.

Is blaggo's miner compatilble with the dev's V2 pool or only uray source pools?
Are there any advantages to using blaggo's miner instead of the dev's miner other than stability and simplicity? As in will I earn more BURST by using blaggo's miner? (The dev's miner has been perfectly stable for me, no crashes)

blago works fine with devv2 pool.

just use  "Mode" : "poolV2" in miner.conf

Coindesk did a crypto 2.0 review

http://www.coindesk.com/19-crypto-2-0-projects-watch-2015/

Did we try contacting them about BURST? Would be awesome for them to cover it.

What would be even more awesome if we had a running test case of AT. Perhaps a lottery or something relatively simple we could use to pitch BURST with.

I am doing some tests in the lottery case in testnet. When the tests are done, i will put it live. Also the crowdfund case is ready

That is awesome, I will keep my eyes peeled. I believe lottery would be ideal for a pitch, as people can easily try it themselves.

When you launch it we can start to market a bit.

Thanks for your good work!

burst vs m7m?

Not an easy question. I would say Burst, because it has way more utility now. Also, I'm not quite sure what to think of the latest miner adjustments in Magi (I am not aware of other coins using m7m). I kinda lean to the school of thinking that too much tampering in order to make it "fair" can backfire just as easily as "normal" distribution.

Its easy. Its actually GPU VS HDD mining. GPU mining is old news , HDD mining is the new kid in the neighbourhood

I say Burst, I read their description of the algo, haven't looked into it or thought it through throughly m7m may protect against GPU mining.. though I could easily see a GPU that handles double precision being released in the not too distant future, but it certainly isn't ASIC resistant. And their efforts to frustrated CPU data centers seem like they would only lead to the datacenter slowly adding new computers instead of all at once and having each one mine to a separate address.

Would be interesting to hear Magi's communities thoughts on the question.

Is USB 2.0 fast enough to mine with or do you need 3.0? Also is it possible to connect multiple HDs to a hub or does that become a bottle neck?

Thank you and my sincere apologies.

*yea, if for some reason, and miracle, LTCgear starts working again, we can decide what to do with things at that point, but I very very highly doubt that will happen.

Would it be effective to mine with 100/100 mbs server with plots being stored on a storage server? There is 10TB storage at 10euro/month (vat included) from hubiC.

Doubtful... I would say to be affective mining over a network, you need at LEAST 1000mb connection, otherwise you won't be able to read all the plot files in time, and thus wouldn't be as effective mining.

Is USB 2.0 fast enough to mine with or do you need 3.0? Also is it possible to connect multiple HDs to a hub or does that become a bottle neck?

I have a lot of disks on USB 2.0 and many on 3.0 seems to work okay, but you will certanly prefer 3.0 until you run out of slots
