This is a tricky issue. It's pretty standard practice not to refund bets I think. Other than the 11 BTC bet nobody seems to be disputing the fact that they gambled and lost. The question is whether the site should pay for the losses from their own pocket because the bets wouldn't have been made if the withdrawal had gone through.

I think in the event that it was simply a hot wallet issue, it's pretty clear. Hot wallets run out occasionally. Players can't expect sites to refund bets made just because the hot wallet was empty. But this case is murkier. There was a bug on the site with made the players think that their coins were already lost, customer support weren't responding to emails or on this thread and so the players apparently felt like their only chance of getting their coins back was to carry on playing. I think if it was me I would have given customer support more time to respond to me, rather than continuing to play, and I don't know what the right thing would be for the site to do. I hope the site compensates the players for this bug and generally steps up its game.

Exactly this, i have had cases before where the hot wallet was not full enough for me to withdraw and afterwards lost coins, i accept those losses as my own fault due to impatience. However SatoshiDice you cannot lump this case in with those as my issue is a very unique one where i:

1) tried to withdraw 36
2) could not due to hot wallet so tried to withdraw 31 which caused an error and dropped my available funds to withdraw by 31 (31.17 exactly)
3) Considering the fact that i was still aloud to withdraw any amount higher then 31.17 because this is where my balance seemed to be 'zeroed' out, and the fact i was panicking as i had felt i had lost these coins due to your site's bug YOUR ERROR not mine, this then tempted me to continue my bets in the only hopes to get some coins back.

If this was just simply a hot wallet issue i would not be in here asking for reimbursement as i wouldn't have been able to withdraw at all until the hot wallet was filled. This case though i could still withdraw amounts higher then 31.17 so obviously this tempted me to try to increase my balance at any hope of regaining coins that i assumed at the time were lost due to this glitch.

The first time i had a hotwallet error i gambled and lost my entire balance of 15btc.
The second time i had a hotwallet error i had learnt from the last time and waited 24 hours and then cashed out 10btc.
The third time this happened (this particular case) i had 36 bitcoins and tried to withdraw the maximum i could. This is when the glitch in your site occured.

If it was just telling me that there were not enough funds in the hot wallet, i would have walked away this time like i did the last and continued trying to cashout until the funds were available, but a very different error occured which makes this a very unique case and is the only reason i am asking for compensation.

I understand in hindsight that i still should have waited, but you still need to understand that this glitch caused me to believe i had lost them anyway and also the fact your SatoshiDice account on this forum was last active on the 11th, i believed at the time that my only hope of regaining some back of what i had lost was to get my balance as high above 31.17 as possible by takin a further betting risk and at least try to walk away regaining for original deposit of 20btc, i figured this was better then losing them all. However through doing this i was only able to get around 13 back.

Yes i should have waited, but i panicked due to an error on your site. This case is very different and you need to address it accordingly and be compensating me accordingly.

I am sure your company would be compensating me if this error occurred on a small amount, well unfortunately for the both of us it was a much larger amount and that should be besides the point. If this glitch did not occur, your casino would be down and i would be up. Instead i am at a big loss and you are trying to run away from this problem/glitch so your casino is at a win here.

I truly understand your concerns and I think it is about time that the SD management is addressing them. As a dice site owner I just like to mention how we handle withdrawal requests. In case our hot wallet is 'empty', withdrawal requests will go into pending status until manually processed by the administration. There is no way that members could continue gambling with those funds and risk and eventually lose them all.

That is another point i was going to bring up. This is how they should be operating their site to avoid instances like this. I have used a different site since and that site does the same thing you just mentioned. I withdrew 20 bitcoins and even though there were not enough funds in the hot wallet it went into pending mode and my betting allowance dropped to 0 as it should have. I felt very comfortable knowing the transaction was being processed even though it did take a while.

However i think they probably have it like this on purpose so people do continue betting which i guess is more profitable for them and there's really nothing 'wrong' with their set up it is just not ideal. In saying that though i still expect to be compensated because of this bug/glitch, not because of the hot wallet not being topped up. If i had continued betting just because there were no funds available to withdraw yet that would be my own stupid fault. I think this instance is quite different though.

Yeah, it is something they could have easily avoided. This happened only because they check the hot wallet balance around once a year. doesn't keep track of large withdrawals have a twice in a month support. and the bug (which they fixed).
The players deserve to be compensated.

I try Withdrawal for 24 hours and 48 hours too and dont have the chance because hot wallet EMPTY.... i lost 62 btc...and put here the photo...And put 1 more won 11 and one here look i put my account in the photo 62 btc .... and use my accounht for bet....my question is... why if you cant withdrawal my ammount you play 11 btc for loose ? why you do this? you hurt me , no hurt SatoshiDice....You lost 11 btc from my account when you enter to my account . so in 48 hours everything change for my life...loose 62 btc , loose 11 btc more and nobody say nothing about this...SORRY MY ENGLISH I DONT HAVE REAL ENGLISH LIKE US

I think the 50 minutes is the duration of the whole losing streak. And someone said this player posted a screenshot showing his login URL, so it's possible someone used the login URL to play on his account.

If you look at the rollids of the bets leading up to the 11 BTC loss you'll see they are nearly consecutive. It presumably means that very few others were playing at the time.

Sorry gas7uazz i hate to come off as harsh here and i understand your pain of losing those coins, but your web address for satoshi dice technically is your password and i tried to explain before that that bet was probably made by somebody else. You have gambled your coins instead of waiting for the hot wallet to be topped up (don't get me wrong i understand your frustration with this as i have done the same thing in the past, but you shouldn't be expecting to be reimbursed from this) and you have unfortunately given out your address on this forum for all to see. You don't have much chance of getting those back.

Again, this is going to sound harsh but i really do feel like you are hurting my chances of getting my unique case addressed as an individual and causing satoshi dice to lump me in the same category of "Sorry, players who continued to gamble are not our responsibility" instead of my case being very unique due to a bug with a withdrawal going through. The funny thing is you are telling people who continue to gamble due to the hot wallet not being topped up, that you are not responsible. However, in those cases peoples accounts were not telling them they had 0 funds (like with me), the hot wallet error says to WAIT. With my case even though my betting balance was showing 31.17, your withdrawal error was telling me 0 funds. So technically, i continued gambling with funds that didn't even exist by the very nature of what your error was telling me. So don't you dare lump me in the same category as everybody else, i would have waited if it had told me to wait!

So to sumarize for the 50 billionth time : first attempt to withdraw of 36.79951086 minus the 13.91865035 that i regained from continuing to gamble = 22.88086051

I will not be going away easily, this is A LOT of coins for me and i know this is probably just a "dissapointing" amount to lose for you, but i don't think it will put you into financial ruin to do the right thing from a error caused by your site.

You cannot put a password on your SatoshiDice account, you are making things up and ruining my chances of getting reimbursed for a legitimate reason. Accept your loss! I have had to many times before, it's painful, deal with it! You have been messaging on here for quite a long time, going back a lot further then my issue and you have been refunded before for continuing to gamble instead of waiting for the hot wallet to be filled. I am sure they only did this because it was a small amount then, but now you are not going away. You should have learnt from that first mistake, instead of going and doing the same thing a second time.

In the process, you are not accepting yourself at fault and because of this i am being lumped into a category with you and not getting my error addressed personally! I'm sure i am coming off as a huge a-hole but im sorry mate but you are really hurting my chances of a legitimate reimbursement or at very least my issue needs to be looked into and addressed directly.

There may be some slim chance of reimbursement in this case if people were making useless bets without the ability to cash out, however i think it is going to be very difficult considering you gave the address away in the first place and it is still your responsibility to keep your account protected. I don't know what to say, at the same time though your case is completely separate to mine and i hope they address us accordingly.

Technically, the reason for posting the screenshot is the fault of SatoshiDice, you see? No bug -> No screenshot -> No bet.
Well, there is negligence on the part of the player, if this is confirmed (but why did it take 50 minutes for the round to end ) there is no solid obligation, though a reputed site may consider a refund full or in part.

Never take full screenshots. Check before posting it anywhere.

I'd say the hacker (assuming that to be true) tried to withdraw the funds but couldn't, so he made a bet thinking that if he win, he can get you to reward him a part of the win?? lol.

This should be top priority. That's a serious amount of money to just disappear.  Basically you withdrew and the site let you withdraw and zero'd your balance without sending any coins. This is truly a messed up situation.

If i had have continued gambling and won because of their withdrawal error, that error is still their fault and their loss. Instead, i lost due to to their error and they have won. Either scenario they are still at fault from a glitch in their systems. Even if i had of won as well, i still wouldn't have been able to cash out at the time would i because whatever balance i could get it to was still going to be  'x - 31'.

If i had have continued gambling and won because of their withdrawal error, that error is still their fault and their loss. Instead, i lost due to to their error and they have won. Either scenario they are still at fault from a glitch in their systems. Even if i had of won as well, i still wouldn't have been able to cash out at the time would i because whatever balance i could get it to was still going to be  'x - 31'.

Why are they not addressing your concerns for days?

They didn't even address me directly when they were last active, they completely ignored the fact of the withdrawal error, corrected the negative balance and then addressed everyone in a general "Sorry but for the players who did not wait for the hot wallet to be filled and continued to gamble and lose, we are not responsible" However, my issue was nothing to do with the hot wallet and was a unique withdrawal error and they are ignoring me on purpose because they don't want to admit the fault because by admitting this error they are admitting they are fault for me losing my money, obviously they are trying to avoid this. Not happy

There is no point to hide it if Erik purchased it back which I believe it wont be happening since he is so focus on shapeshift.
