Hi all,
I am very disgusted with S4 quality. I ordered 10 psc, 6 working fine (not well) 1 miner have a lot of xx in Asic status (more than 60 xx) and 3 PSUs burnt. I am really curious how bitmain will compensate ours losses! I do not recommend S4 for buy.
I enclose pics of burnt PSUs.

Have you powered the unit(s) with the burned psu on 220-240V or on an ~110V line?

Now that you are, can you explain why S2 users are still waiting after 2 months for the fix you promised within two weeks?

Yes, now I am writing with Yoshi some emails. But I have written 4 emails before. First on 2014-10-02 because first PSU burned immediately after first start.

Why does Bitmain sell to pcfli?

He lied about S4 release date to sale his stock of LKETC's "BTW, i have confirmed with the owner of bitmain and lketc that the S4 will not released before 7/10/2014"

Hes now accusing Bitmain of mining with hardware to the point products are not new, and no different then his month + old miners. ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=765500.msg9175100#msg9175100 )

Do you really have a relationship with pcfli? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=253683 or is he just a buyer.  He makes it sound like he knows owner and inside info.

He doesn't have any relationship as far as I know. He's a reseller of items who runs a large hosting farm now. In the post you said, he's trying to say why his products are better than S4s so of course he will say they're in the negative. He probably knows nothing [because everything he's said is wrong and also benefits him].

I can't give you any definite date but I will get back to you on that issue.  Please wait for an announcement from "Bitmain" username on that part.

If you have a solution, you may submit the Github Commit

Thank you for your patience.   Wink

That's exactly the problem: user "Bitmain" is not answering any questions about the matter whatsoever, & it was that user who promised the fix 2 months ago. What does it take to get a straight answer from anyone there? Bitmain publicly promised the S2 users this would be done - but since then there has been nothing but silence, while in the meantime users are having their hash rate stolen because of it - are you going to compensate them? Of course not.

I'm sure that if your S2 farm suddenly had it's hash rate redirected in the same manner, you'd provide a fix as quick as a flash, do your customers not deserve the same treatment? After all, they paid you.

@IYFTech,

I will look into this.  That is all I can promise at this time.  Firmware process takes many steps than just 1 person type something into the linux computer and compile it.  There are many other precautions that will take to make sure any changes made be functional and does not cause any other unforeseen side effects.  (Again, will look into this and get back to you)

Again, the same answer as the last 2 months. it does not take two months to do a cgminer upgrade to an image file & test it, and even if it did, why did you promise it within two weeks then? You managed to do it within days for the S4.....even though it still doesn't work properly...... Roll Eyes

I will continue to post requesting what has been promised until you deliver. It's annoying, I know. But so is having hashing work stolen & being ignored about it.

EDIT: Please delete your claim that the S4 is p2pool compatible in the OP - it is not. Far from it.

P2pool compatibility wise, it does work but it is depends on how the pool side is setup.  You can keep asking and the answer could be the same.... Also how you set the worker name.

I can spend answering your repeated posts while time to look into what you are asking may be eaten away  Wink

You are just giving this account more reasons to increase the post count...  Grin

Back to the serious mode:  I do see your point and understand it but, please wait for any update.  you don't want trouble shooting techs pulling something out of nowhere and  compile it. (I'm sure you don't want a car mechanic fixing the jumbo jet engine on your flight on the way to your honeymoon trip) I'm sure it will be better served when it is done right as you keep asking.

Out of curiosity...

Could you put to a Beta build with the latest CGminer compiled in it as is. It wouldn't be to hard to whip up an disclosure box saying this software is provided in a beta condition, it hasn't been fully tested and Bitmain Tect is not responsible for your machine mining at a lower hashrate, becoming unresponsive, the bricking, formation of small black holes, etc.

Again, this is an option for those of us who like the bleeding edge of stuff, and know how to back things up if Fit hits the Shan.

Sorry Bitmain, but this simply isn't true. Would you care to share these settings you refer to with the p2pool community? - as I am not aware of a single user who has had any success running the S4 with p2pool either efficiently or effectively. In fact, it appears that the S4 only works with with a single pool with a single setting atm.

I must also say that I find your support & attitude towards customers distinctly lacking of late. I too am a S2 owner (as well as S3 & S1) whom you promised a fix for before going silent months ago, and I think that accusing a customer who correctly complains about this of "reasons to increase the post count" just a little too tasteless, given the circumstances  Angry

I gave a remote accessed S4 a red hot go on a customised proxied p2pool and the best I could get on it was averaging 1.7TH.

Gentlemen,

We have a problem here.  I want to tag all the posters who talked about the PSU's burning up.   I ordered 33 units of the S4.  I now have 8 that are down due to PSU failures.  Three of these literally CAUGHT ON FIRE!!!!  I was lucky enough that they were installed to a PDU and the breaker tripped which saved my entire rack.  Now....  Upon inspecting the units I saw as others have posted: There are no stickers, no identifying racks, and no manufacturers specifications on these PSU's... This tells me that these were not manufactured by a PSU company but rather built in house by someone who is NOT QUALIFIED to build PSU's.
Now we as customers are left holding the bag - again.  I have 16 TH/s worth of machines sitting on the ground waiting for Bitmain to send me new PSU's.   I also have 3 more machines units randomly turn off, which is what they do just prior to the PSU failing.  This was a TERRIBLE decision for Bitmain to make, as it shakes our confidence in their ability to make a quality unit.  From this point forward I don't think I will have any choice but to order spondoolies-tech units.  They are the last company who delivers on time, or close to on time, and offers quality units.

Just for clarification - I use 208V and all units with stock settings. No overclocking what so ever.

So I guess Bitmain decided to not learn from BFL then, trying to go cheap on PSUs meant for 24/7 operation with close to 100% load is not the brightest idea.
