Hi is anyone minig VNL here yet? ... Thanks anyone for info Try using Smelter from the OP. AMD/WIN - Smelter by Smolen - https://mega.co.nz/#!vQgzCCxY!iprRvA5CsiouU5EfrY6ptct8dFuE1_Y-vZnGkjcI_Kc [Fastest for AMD] my 280x is getting ~3 - 12 vnl per day , but lookout if those chinese gpu farms return

Hi is anyone minig VNL here yet? I was minig it last winter and as it is getting cold here I am comming back with my rig 5xR9 270. Last winter it used to generate at least 20-50 coins etc / day, nowadays after 3 days of non stop minig I minted 0.5 coin altogether. Isnt that strange? With this, it is totally unprofitable to mine VNL although I love this coin, never sold any, nor I will until they are pair to BTC What is todays approach to mining VNL? Did FPGA dominated this? I have around 80 Mh/s per card in sgminer but I cannot get more. What should I be getting from such card and expectin to mint per day? I also have some 7950 still resting in closet, should I turn them on? What shoud I expect here from those cards? Thanks anyone for info Try using Smelter from the OP. AMD/WIN - Smelter by Smolen - https://mega.co.nz/#!vQgzCCxY!iprRvA5CsiouU5EfrY6ptct8dFuE1_Y-vZnGkjcI_Kc [Fastest for AMD] I have tried that but was getting only about 1 mhs / card and still it seemed to me it is even not accepted by pool (mining on vanillacoin.net I think). What was that problem? Do you mine with smelter personally? I would have to get at least 10x more hashes in smelter to be efficient

Be nice if someone made a guide on how to ensure your node is working, while remaining as safe as possible.
It will be made, but first the node incentive system must be fully functional, as you see only the base incentive protocol integration is live which is the RC1 release.

Except this RC1 update, every release since around January is open source. There is probably a testing reason behind it, also it's not mandatory.
Nice from a 10 post account to ask for caution, but John most probably won't spread any malware considering the amount of work he put into this project.
Having the source code published, as it is the idea behind section 6 of AGPL used by previous versions, would remove those probabilities. No need to take the word from a 10 post account as advice (or a Terminator movie character with negative karma for that matter) just read and compile the software that can potentially run your money. Tweaking it to fit your needs. Don't take me wrong, I like the idea of Vanillacoin, I have some, and I am curious to see ZeroTime concept tested in the real world, I might be a little frustrated for not being able to run RC1 on my linux box and be part of the testing group, that's all.

Taking John's negative trust rating into a statement regarding a closed source RC version of a vanillacoin wallet is pretty much pointless. I would also think that for John, who invested so much (both time and money) into the project (just look at his FPGA rig and the full time development he is doing and count with the avarage developer/programmer fees) it wouldn't be worth to spread a malware which gets noticed after 10 minutes and would result in VNL dropping to 0 and the project ending. Obviously always take care with anything that is closed source, there are certain virus scan application (ex. Virustotal) which one can use before downloading anything. Yeah I see that you might be curious and/or frustrated, but John just stated it on the forums ( https://talk.vanillacoin.net/topic/206/version-0-3-4-rc1-release/2) that the private branch will soon be merged with the public one and the paper will also get an update. The paper just got tweeted out, so I guess the first one will be soon here also. Paper: https://github.com/john-connor/papers/blob/master/incentive.pdf

Anyway, when was the last time you minted VNL and get 10+ from 515 mh/s? Eventhough I am using sgminer with 80 mh/s per card, I have 5 of them in rig so total is around 400 mh/s, which should be at least around 80% of what you mine, but I mine literally 0.2 or so per day. How can 400 mh/s do 0.2 and 515 10+??? Anyone mining VNL right now? What is expectation per 100 mh/s?

What is expectation per 100 mh/s? single GPU (R9-280x) working at pool.vanillaco.in, running smelter @~450mh I have found out there is mainly problem with pool01.vanilacoin.net where I was mining. Total hashing power was 400 mh/s and it really did only 0.7 in 3 days. On vnl.suprnova.net it is mining normally and I expect around 10+ per day with this, so this is good. What is not good is I cannot run smelter efficiently. How do you use it? I have heard you should use some amd libraries to make it work better. I dont know if it is true or not, but I have copied amd_opencl32.dll,amd_opencl64.dll, amdocl.dll, amdocl64.dll into folder where is smelter. Then in that folder is only smelter.exe and sm.cmd where I have my simple config. Then I run it via that config file and getting only doing 1 or 2 mh/s anyone know why? Also wattage usage is not somehow superb, it is taking only 230 W out of the wall while using sgminer it is taking 500 W
