Does anyone know why my Cortex hashrate differs so much? Tried out a few diff pools.

Gminer reports 6.5G/s but pool reports 0.125H/s. Does G stand for something I've never noticed before?

same here, cortex in gminer is broken.

maybe dev misplaced the 5% to the miner and 95% to the dev fee LOL  Cheesy

Anyone using ryzen 9 3900x to mine?

i built three rigs.

gear seems pretty good.

amd threadripper with 24 - 64 (x2 with threads) cores are at ~300W, cpus that consumes power like high end gaming cards.

i watched a youtube video saying ryzen 9 is more than enough for people he knew that uses computer for video/work stuff....he never knew a miner LOL. that 64 cores ain't enough  Grin

Any chance of a CPU miner being released?

CPU mining is not an obstacle, but is not profitable at all.
BIS is a GPU coin, with specific algo to heavily penalize fpgas and asics from common algorithms.

There are discussions about a potential use of mining channels to have both GPU and CPU mining going on, but nothing practical as for now.

I personally believe that GPU is still the better path to hash power decentralization.

i highly doubt that only GPUs are mining this, if an algo can be reasonably mined by shitty old GPUs then FPGAs can do it profitably. maybe a 8gb minimum ram requirement for GPU's can be a good start, ETH crossed the 3gb minimum, BIS is currently at what?

BTW that "unnamed exchange" has an interface that looks like cryptopia LOL  Grin

I wonder if the new gen is a process node jump, or a hybrid of the current product...

I decided to not upgrade to the new gen nvidia gpu... I may give it a go if you see that huge jump as nvidia is typical to give with the higher end '80/ti chips/models.  The 1K+ pricetag on a 2080ti wasn't worth it for me, even as an also gamer that is stuck at home 90% of the time.

about the gaming part..

2080ti earned a premium to be the first true 4k gaming gpu that can pull a good amount of FPS. going 4k, 2080ti and above performance (upcoming GPUs) you should consider a new monitor ultraHD/4k blah blah stuff.

I'm using a 1920x1200 24inch monitor for gaming, a 1920x1200 resolution for 1080ti will play new games at max/ultra settings..but you can and if you push the limits of 1080ti you'll see the difference. (not to mention there is an "enable RTX" on some games)

here is the trick, use the nvidia "custom resolution", i tried (my monitor aspect ratio is 16:10)

2560x1600 - ideal for 1080ti, more clear gaming, this is 1440p for 16:9 aspect ratio
3840x2400 - this is 4k zone, 1080ti gaming got a bit of stickiness to it, i bet 2080ti can do this like 1080ti to a 2560x1600
4096x2560 - this will be the 3080ti area...

3080ti will be the 4k gaming at ~100 and above FPS, specially now that monitors can do 144hz.

some games have a memory fill bar while adjusting settings, 11gb gets filled at 3840x2400, that's why 3080ti gets a 16gb of memory. 2080ti still has 11gb.

custom resolution works, even if you have a 1080p monitor, try playing a 1080p video and try playing a 4k video, generally 4k is still much clearer. the video delivered to you is 4k, the gpu delivered to you is 1440p even at 1080p monitor you'll see the difference.

nvidia 3000 series rumored to be released 1st half of 2020, 1080ti users can now skip a generation

3080ti is 16GB BTW

why is it so hard for cryptopia to just press the "enable withdrawal button"?
1. There is no cryptopia anymore to push any buttons
2. The government is now involved and they have pesky things like laws and regulations and the like.

yeah i mean in the past, should have used past tense "was"

yup, cryptopia planned that shit-use the law to lock up the coins for balancing the budget/ledger (their budget)....well it everyone's money in fact LOL

always remember the liquidators are in this for the money, they are looking for profits like flies to shit  Wink

it is always about the money, just like the founders who quit their jobs before turning this so called "exchange hack"(running away with everyone's money) into a shit show.

why is it so hard for cryptopia to just press the "enable withdrawal button"? same with the liquidators, well it is all in front of everybody..LIQUIDATORS ==> LIQUIDATES YOUR COINS. that's why they are called liquidators LOL, they are running the numbers for MAXIMUM PROFIT.

.., I lost a big apartment because of you.

Alexey you clearly show that you do not have the nerves required for cryptocoin investments. Why did you invest? You seem to be so far out of your knowledge and confort zone here and you took a much too high risk for what is healthy to you.

You are despirate we understand that but you behave very shamefull. It's embarrassing.
You act like a kid crying rainbows demand others to do this or that to safe your investment. It's not the job of good cryptodeveloper to care about the price. They should care about the technic, the usability and the general adaption of a coin. That are very long term things that may pay out when things go well but not tomorrow or in a week or a month or a year. It takes time. But you are in cryptoland. There is no garantie that it will. All the cryptocoins can lose their value in complete. Even bitcoin. It can happen very fast and is a danger you have to be fully aware all the time. Everyone in crytocoin investements knows that. Rule Nr1. Never invest more than you can afort to lose. It's not a saying. It is something you have to take very seriours.

You are not the only one that lost big by investing in cryptos the last 2 years. I know a lot. They knew what they did and the risk. They are not here crying now. Yes I know you somehow think you can get people do things to magical put value in the coin. That's not how it works. Not with coins that are here since years. You can try such in a pump and dumb coin but even there it is questional that you archive anything else than everyone seeing you as a kid crying. I know I am harsh here. But really that's what the most will see you doing here. Man up.

Blameing others is not what investors do. You alone are resposnible for your investments. It is your job to gather the information you need and the knowledge you need and process it. If it goes bad then you made a bad decision. Blind following any information anyone posts in any forum or chat only shows that you do not have the skills for trading. Openly blameing someone else makes it worse.

Again I think cryptocoins investment isn't for you. If you are over your head in something it can have impact on your health. That shouldn't be worth it. Take less risks.

actually it was the best post in this thread for quite a while, snaps people back into reality instead of relentless and endless circle jerking and hopium going around here.

the people you knew sucks by not speaking up, they should follow this guy who speaks up about losing money in dash.

"Reality Check: The Truth about Dash's Launch"

-snip-

https://medium.com/@taoofsatoshi/reality-check-the-truth-about-dashs-launch-7265d98f1c0c

Excerpt from blog:

...I went along with this strategy for quite some time, years in fact. However, I finally reached a point where I could not anymore stand to see Dash's name dragged through the mud by individuals within the blockchain industry. I made up my mind that it would be best to have passionate blockchain industry participants friendly to Dash. This would lead to more investment, more development, and an all-round more friendly and productive environment to work in.

The narrative of the researchers had to be challenged.

As a result of that thinking, I took it upon myself to investigate the launch of Dash. I wanted to see if the conclusions that were drawn by the research team were based on reality or negative assumptions.
In this blog post, I will summarize my findings about the circumstances around the Dash "fastmine" and invite you to watch the full documentary...

i'll discuss this statement from you, maybe it might become worthy of a new reference thread Wink

you said "if dash is a scam where is the scammed victims?"

...well not exactly, dash is in a way a scam by being a shitty form of business, instamined masternodes produce income for dash shitty business while ASIC miners are playing with high risk gamble just to ROI.

all the tech privacy and instant payments are all just a technological dead end where competing tech already surpassed dash. imagine china still relying on the great wall for defensive capability instead of nukes? LOL

remember a cheap low class hot dog will still make sales in the streets but it will never take over the world because it is not great and it is a shitty scammy way of doing business, imagine if that hot dog only cost 1$ to produce but being sold at 15$?

so smart people here, set your exit price when pump comes and exit this shitty snake oil business of a coin. thank me later  Wink

This thread is full of so much bullshit here's an update -

https://www.grantthornton.co.nz/update-for-cryptopia-account-holders-25-October-2019/

-snip-

Customers did not have individual wallets and it is impossible to determine individual ownership using just the keys in the wallets. While Cryptopia held details of customer holdings and reported these on the Exchange, the crypto-assets themselves were pooled (co-mingled) in coin wallets. As a centralised exchange, customers' trades would occur in the exchange's internal ledger without confirmation on the blockchain.
No detailed reconciliation process between the customer databases and the crypto-assets held in the wallets has ever been completed.
This process is well underway and will still take some time to complete. We are working to reconcile the accounts of over 900,000 customers, many holding multiple crypto-assets, millions of transactions and over 400 different crypto-assets.

So we have a very very long wait ahead of us. Multi year at this rate.

On the plus side they sold a good few pot plants and some booger covered desks.

that is a bullshit..

I hope they'll re-open a read-only version of the website soon. Makes it much easier for customers to provide evidence of their holdings before the hack.

not just evidence of holdings but most importantly reconciliation of crypto holdings.

analogy:

..unless the website says there are 100 users with 10 coins each (1000total) but the wallet pool only has 500 coins only, now that is missing 500 coins.

justice delayed justice denied.

reconciliation is easy it is already in the website, send an email to the registered email like--"KYC this account and withdraw your funds" unless THERE IS NO FUNDS AND/OR THERE ARE MISSING FUNDS OTHER THAN WHAT'S OFFICIALLY SAID.

and GRAND THORN in the ass already STOLE your coins with their KYC bullshit....

here is an example:

grand thorn in the ass: KYC this email (in cryptopia) (dummyemail@gmaildotcom, dummy name)

you: send real name and ID's

grand thorn in the ass: you and your dummy name do not match, sorry we will not be able to process your withdrawal request  Tongue

Lahat ng requirments that they’ve asked na i-submit napasa mo naman, then wala pa din pagbabago sa limits ng account mo? kahit increase manlang?

Yung akin still in progress padin.
They still don't want to accept all the credentials I submitted. Napasa ko na actually lahat lahat and napakadami ng hinihingi nila. Like for example, fully verified ka sa binance, diba hindi naman nakikita yung real name mo dun? And they're asking for a screenshot that will show your real name, your btc address, funds and the exchange itself. Di naman kayang makita yung real name sa binance diba kahit verified ka na? If ever na may nakakaalam, please reply dito. Maraming salamat.

Sorry to hear.
I can’t help dahil kahit ako tinamaan din ng pagbaba bigla ng limits, pero okay naman na sakin yung binaba niya dahil hindi ko pa naman necessarily ng malalaking amount for sort of withdrawal.

Is it sa mga gambling sites na dumating thru sakanila? or any behind a reasons? siguro sa mga may malalaking cash out history past years?
I think it's because the payment is from the gambling sites, I guess? or from shady websites? ganito rin kasi nangyari sakin ni limit nila yung withdrawal account ko ng 2k peso a day. Hindi naman masama dahil wala naman akong masyadong pera para i-withdraw.

Nangyari narin ito sa account ko. Verified ako sa level 3 user at meron akong limit before na 400,000 php sa cash out pati cash in per day.
Nagwithdraw ako ng 50k 4x in 1 day sa cebuana. Tapos nakatanggap ako ng email at text wala pang 1 week after nung naglabas ako ng pera noon subject for level 4 na ako pero wala naman ako requirements para doon dahil wala ako business na ipapakitang registered. Simula noon may limit na ako na 50k per month cash in at cash out.

hey buddy i'm pretty convinced you are just a paid marketer, but if in any case that you are just like any other shitcoiners, i would suggest in the next bull cycle you start selling this dash shitcoin and find a good source of income outside crypto, put small amount of money into a new crypto start up/shitcoin with promising new innovation/s.

brutal crypto winter? top 10 coins are in the billion market cap category....dash is outside that *ouch!

this dash isn't gonna be the next bitcoin, when btc hit 1200$ it only touched 150$ in a very short period of time. while dash hit 1500$ and now lingers at 69$ with less than the circulating amount of coins compared to btc when it hit 150$ and knowing a significant amount in millions of dash is locked in masternodes. it simply means its over, and when you get another chance for a good sum of money, take it buddy. TAKE IT!

dash already failed in privacy aspect, instant send also isn't great anymore since a lot coins can send fairly quick.

this is going to be a slow downward spiral for dash.

A common explanation for the Dash "instamine" (fastmine is a more appropriate term) was that since Litecoin had a fastmine, Dash's fastmine could be attributed to a bug from the Litecoin code.
This explanation, which is also featured in Dash's official summary here:

https://dashpay.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/OC/pages/19759164/Dash+Instamine+Issue+Clarification

will need to be changed. Through my research I have discovered that there was another culprit responsible for Dash's fastmine.

That was never a common explanation (i only ever heard it mentioned by 1 person) , nor is it described like that in Dash official summary.
Let me quote Dash's official summary :

Quote
XCoin as it was called at the time was based off of the Litecoin code base, which unbeknownst to the developers contained restrictions on the frequency and extent of adjustments which
the network could apply to mining difficulty.

Because of these restrictions,
and the popularity of mining the coin, the network produced a large number of blocks with the maximum allowable coins in each block.

This does not indicate a Litecoin fastmine to me, it just indicates the factors that played a role in Dash unique fastmine / instamine. As a reminder, Dash was first forked
from Litecoin codebase and later on forked from Bitcoin code base. Just because Dash was originally forked from Litecoin and had a fastmine / instamine, does not mean Litecoin must have had a
fastmine / instamine as well. I dont see anything that needs to be changed in the Dash official summary so far, unless you found something that completely invalidate above quotation
(which would surprise me).

The part of the explanation above (in bold and in red) is not entirely correct. I will surprise you.

Well, i will await your documentary as i am curious what you consider "not entirely correct". But i do want to point out there are plenty examples publicly available which supports the official statement
that the instamine issue in part was due to coding issues :

https://dashdot.io/alpha/?page_id=118

Yes, this research features heavily into my presentation, and supports my position that the restrictions of the Litecoin code were not responsible. You'll see why tomorrow. I've done my homework on this!

will be watching  Grin

qwizzie trying to prevent "this gonna end bad" moment lol

a defense to down play the instamine word to fastmine?, the MAJOR difference between instamine and fastmine is instamine=INSTA millions of coins within a day which becomes as effective as a premine. that's why coinmarketcap once labeled darkcoin with "* premine" back then and darkcoiners goes ape shit around here lol.

almost 6 years before finding ANOTHER explanation, better be a good one......a good laugh  Grin

No that's why you adapt, gpu mining has already been struggling for a while, especially at standard power rates. I suggest those who like being able to switch algorithms really take a closer look into fpga.

Thats sounds great, but the problem is FPGAs have so much downside.

1. It's not cheap (unless you want to earn pennies as a hobby with those small ones)
2. There is a learning curve that requires a bit more effort than GPU mining (what is a bitstream)
3. Resale is difficult
4. Even buying one can be risky, with so many scams out there.

Basically theres simply much more effort to be done than what most people are used to. That could be a good thing for the niche, but doesn't sound too enticing to take a closer look at especially if the profits are not considerably larger (prove me wrong?).

1. Neither are 3 high end gpu's
2. Learn or die, mining doesn't need to be a simple gui
3. It's not
4. same with everything online, learn or die.

Theres not much effort to be done but it isn't plug and play. Learning is key but to those who learn goes the spoils.

yeah it is good to have fpga too if you can, but look at the coin team's perspective. of course you want to launch a coin with millions of audience/miners(gpu) instead of a significantly few fpga miners.

actually the idea to mine on mobile device is looking bad to me, because it hit the very important feature  of mobile device - TIME. time when device could work, by abusing the battery..
so I see no point in this. no fun to charge your phone every 3-7 hours, instead of once per 24 hours.. and taking into account that almost no such coins exist, quite a majority of people think the same way..

keep it plugged (trickle charge), some phones specially with battery upgrades can stay on for 3 days.

it is not just having uninterruptible supply of power (battery), from wifi the phone can change to LTE, 4G, or 5G instantly if wifi goes out.

Lesson learned - not your keys, not your coins. if you leave coins at an exchange, it's on you.

Yes that should really be a golder rule to be honest.

I said on many occasions and reiterate the point, the only time your coins should be in an exchange is when you need to trade. As soon as the trade is complete send them back to your desktop wallet.

if you are buying to go long on a coin then you are right. but generally people who get into crypto are the gambler type/risk takers. they want to put asks and bids that they want and leave it there until the next movement. you can easily deduce that they are risking their money.

just like how easy it is to deduce that cryptopia founders quit their jobs to go full time on cryptopia and then everything goes to shit. fuckers does not want to work anymore, where will they get their money for living when bear market enter its phase? it is so obvious. I got flak from cryptopia ass lickers here from pointing that out early.

bentheanonmod (a cryptopia employee) even admitted that he has other btctalk account but he created a new one just to post here, now that is some credibility lol

mods are even convinced that i'm trolling and got a post or two deleted  Tongue

sharpen your instincts and always re asses what others say and what you think.

Why would some ico shitcoin testnet mining (where the centralized authority credits mainnet later) be the savior of gpu mining. That's like a bad joke and nobody is laughing.

ethereum just did that
