1121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What's the best Altcoin for this moment to accumulate right now? on: August 05, 2023, 01:29:57 PM
I want to find a good Altcoin to invest in before the bull starts, also have a non-custodial exchange. This means, that we have complete control over our funds. If there is, please help convey it, because a lots of new altcoins was born every day.
No single answer will do justice to what you seek as everyone will want to shill whatever they're hodling. If you care for your investment you shouldn't leave the decision to random internet people to make for you. Except you've something in mind already and you want to guage how others assess it to find out if it's worth it or not. Still DYOR, even when options are dropped here for you. Research launchpad tokens, especially those from the Bluezilia  conglomerate. Exchange tokens won't be a bad place also to look. Make sure whatever tokens you consider have a use and utility.
1122  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Spot trading or future trading which trading is best for beginers? on: August 05, 2023, 11:47:22 AM
OP, you seemed to be asking question in your thread topic with this "Spot trading or future trading which trading is best for beginers (sic)?" but you went ahead to give an expository in the body of your first comment. That's conflicting. Anyway, that said.

I think every newbie trader should stick to spot trading and then grow from that conservative experience they will get from it. It's greed which often arises from the instant profit made (when it goes well, anyway) from future trading that entices amateur traders into futures trading. Traders should learn the logic behind "slow and steady win the race' and not instant gratification by hastily doing what they aren't conversant with and getting their fingers burnt
1123  Other / Meta / Re: Ignore user confirmation before ignoring on: August 05, 2023, 09:42:56 AM
Did you use your account on mobile regularly? It's more possible to mistakenly Ignore a user if you are on mobile than on laptop or computer.

The confirmation message for Ignore a user is not too necessary. It is very simple to click on UnIgnore and it is done. Because you know about users you don't want to Ignore, you can UnIgnore them manually and easily.
I think you're right about such occurrence being more regularly with mobile phone users. Sometimes I find myself staring at users I know I didn't consciously ignore. I know my itching fingers would've touched the "ignore button" while I was trying to zoom in or out. I simply undo it whenever I notice that. I've a mental picture of those I've on ignore and if the user doesn't belong there on that list I do the needful. It's not a big deal to undo and I guess that's why there isn't any box to check to do that. Theymos won't see this complaint as an issue. We will all be chasing shadows if we expect he will do something about it.
1124  Other / Off-topic / Re: Some of my Favourite Personal Texts of Bitcointalk Members on: August 05, 2023, 09:00:16 AM
Even many of my countrymen don't know what it means. Anyway, thanks to Best_Change for not requiring us to wear a personal text. A little space is left for something, well, personal.
This isn't to pander to any unnecessary flattery. I like to applaud Best_Change and other campaigns that allow free space for hunters to freely express themselves with whatever personal text they choose. I don't know what projects stand to gain by insisting campaign hunters use avatar texts which in themselves aren't clickable. It doesn't add any more value.

If I remember it right, I put it there when the pandemic was at its most vicious point. I was simply saying, in a single word, that life doesn't stop even in the midst of a pandemic-- or a war or death of a friend or a family or whatever for that matter. It moves on. We carry on.
I've learnt a new word, Padayon!. Move on! My only problem there using it will be on how to enunciate it. From its meaning and your explanation for picking it, I can say it rightly deserves a mention on the list.

I don't own a patent to my avatar text. It's a proverb I picked up way back in high school. It simply explains human life in three stages – the child stage 2. The youth stage 3. The child stage again. The third stage is the old age actually but it's likened to the child stage because here the human brain and its activities aren't as active and coordinated as when they are in the youth stage. That text is a constant reminder to me of the vulnerability humans suffer at old age when they have to rely on others the same way children do. So, that helps me relate with elderly people going through senile dementia or lack of coordination where they've to rely on others for care.

btw, I've been in the crypto space for even longer and been on Bitcointalk since eraly 2016 but forgot my old login data, as I wasn't really checking this forum much back in the day.
You've been here that long but you seem not to have given yourself enough time for perusal or trust information from historical data to make forecast of the future. If there were any skepticism on Bitcoin, I think it's gradually getting dismantled now unlike what we had in the past. I don't see why you still hodl tenaciously to things going wrong while we approach a halving year. Listen, I'm not saying Bitcoin doesn't take a beat up from time to time but I haven't seen that beat up take place during halving or post halving. Anyway, I've said enough already on this from my conviction. Your reality and expectations don't have to align with mine, neither do mine with yours.
1127  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Who be the first Nigerian that joined Bitcoin Talk on: August 02, 2023, 05:02:09 PM
i also found this leo, who i will say he is the oldest member from Nigeria since he registered in 2012
Menh! I doubted dat Leo until I checked and saw he even get post for local sef. I nor go surprise sey e get persin wey enta before him sef dat year wey forum open and still dey post here codedly.

I give it to Brainboss. D guy try to arrange dat owa hangout thread, I nor go lie una. I know how reluctant I was wen im approached me on dat issue. Maybe im go don forget how dat matta take be dat time now. I wanted to just do my stuff without any ish then. Even owa late brother Becky666 follow ginger for the thread then. May God rest his soul.

We nor go too blame those wey no identify with us because e get as here be dat time wen I enta. Una sabi dat kain prejudice thing once outsiders identify you as Naija persin na. Nor be everybodi go fit risk to face mob action like dat wen you dey minority. All man wan protect wetin dey put food for dem mouth, I understand dat part.

I still dey see members wey I know sey dem be Nigerians but dem neva show face for local board unto sey dem wan keep actin foreigner. Some na their usernames dey give dem out while some na their writing pattern. Una sabi sey e get as a typical Naija persin dey take coin words of write English ba, are you understanding me 😆

Those of una wey enta here afta we get hangout thread, una dey lucky honestly. I know d joy wey e give me d first time I discovered one Naija dude through im username. I think Olubams be d user. Na so I rush d dude inbox. We chatted very well, even off forum for sometime. Na dat merit thing wey forum introduced make d dude slack. He come stop posting as soon as im marry. I tried to encourage him to come back but e nor work.

Shoutout to a man like Brainboss!

Nice try but nor be so dem dey take analyse proverbs oh. Nor be plain meaning from d syntactic structure. You get to dig deep and peruse am. For instance now, if I tell you sey "Pikin wey dem carry for back nor dey know sey road far" E nor mean sey dem actually carry pikin for back dey go somewhere but na true if dem still carry pikin for back. Wetin dat particular proverb mean be sey persin wey dem dey help do something nor dey know sey e dey hard. Proverbs get application, nor be d regular talk and just leave am there kind of thing.

It's kind of reckless to just make a statement (marked in italics above) as if it were set in stone.
I don't know how "reckless" you think that comment is when you see something reoccurring over and over. Both of us have witnessed two full Bitcoin circles since we registered here. Your profile tells me that we both got in here the same month. It's also likely that we may have passed through one or two similar experiences as members here, isn't it? So, what makes my being certain that halving history will repeat itself as was in the past "reckless"? Yes, I know this is crypto and there shouldn't be strong hold on certainty but I want to differ on that in relation to halving. Bitcoin will experience another ATH after halving. Mark my word.
1130  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 18, holding my bitcoin and looking forward :) on: August 01, 2023, 06:47:44 PM
I am gonna start deciding to sell it at end of 2024 , but I guess i could wait till end of 2025.
I believe you'll be in better profit selling it in 2025 as against 2024. Bitcoin ATHs usually come a year after every halving, looking at past data. 2025 will be that year for a new ATH to be achieved. Nonetheless, OP will be making a better call if you set an exit point for yourself instead of looking for a duration to sell off. Who knows, price may get to your projection before the time and you're off the market. Choose price target over duration to cash out.
1131  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Have you ever been scammed ? on: August 01, 2023, 04:31:25 PM
It will be very difficult to find anyone who got into cryptos between the year 2010 up till 2020 who would say they haven't been scammed one way or the other. I've had my fair share of it, from doubling sites to rugpulled ICOs to unpaid bounties here to lending coin days. Anyway, the good thing is that were still here today despite all that challenges. We learn everyday and hopefully I don't encounter such ugly experiences going forward again.
1132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are your reasons for adopting cryptocurrency? on: August 01, 2023, 04:05:49 PM
For me, getting involved in cryptos is more like enjoying freedom, both financial freedom and physical. I saw crypto as the innovation in economics that is shifting financial dealings out of the hands of middlemen seamlessly and I had to embrace it. Sincerely, despite the losses I've incurred from my noob days till now I still don't have any iota of regret embracing cryptos. I like being able to do my business from any part of the globe I find myself. This is what crypto businesses – trading, investments, writing etc have been able to do for me. Crypto is a big win for me. It's like having my own cake and eating, so to say.
1133  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The beauty of Bitcoin is in use case. on: August 01, 2023, 02:11:44 PM
OP picked the acceptability of Bitcoin as a means of payment and tagged it its beauty. Nah, I don't think that's it. A bunch of coins out there can do that and even more than what Bitcoin offers. Come to think of it, we can't even stake Bitcoin to earn like we do others. Anyway, for me what makes Bitcoin beautiful isn't it's payment option. It's its decentralized nature. If Bitcoin weren't decentralized, those government officials and economists who hated Satoshi's guts in creating it would've crippled it long ago in it's formative years before anyone said Jack. In Africa, especially in countries where the government is anti-Bitcoin, they would've confiscated it. Like what we've in my country. These officials don't even understand how to go about crypto related issues and so at worse they can only ban bank transactions of it. It's thanks to decentralization.
1134  Economy / Economics / Re: What's the effect of having plenty children to the national economy of a country on: August 01, 2023, 12:14:57 PM
Your allusion to the plenteous children of the French in the 15th century wasn't a secluded case. It was also evident in Africa (Nigeria). My Dad used to tell me that a part of the reason people of that era had many children and wives was to have enough farm hands who would help out at the farm and not get paid at home. Another was to fight boredom and loneliness. Can we say these reasons still stand today? Of course, not.

In today's world parental responsibility and care are top necessity more than birthing children one can't even take appropriate care of. On the part of the government, using my country as an example, I think it's overwhelming to have a bloated population. The amenities and infrastructure aren't enough to go round the people and that seems to make a mess of government's planning and strategy as the country gets to have more people struggling over scarce resources and amenities.
1135  Other / Meta / Re: re: "how to earn merit" topics on: August 01, 2023, 10:54:59 AM
Just look at that funny picture in the OP. A carpenter who doesn't have a single chair at home. It's the same way we also see people who teach trading but can't earn profit from it to make them quit their day job and begin to elk a living from trading. It's a funny situation. I read a lot of posts like that and laugh at the hidden hypocrisy in them. This is why members here shouldn't take everything said here hook, line and sinker without verifying them.
1136  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting started : Guide me on: August 01, 2023, 08:37:20 AM
I would like to hope that you will believe all of us and will not give up...
That which I put in italics is often the problem with new members. After a while of excitement, the zeal dies off and many of them just abandon their accounts. I think they do this when they've that mindset of hitting it big once they register on this forum. They post for a few weeks and if they don't receive encouragement in form of merits, they bolt away. These ones don't really understand why Rome wasn't built in a single day. I'm encouraging OP to persevere and be constructive in their posts. They will enjoy being here at the end of the day.
1137  Other / Meta / Re: Bringing back the old forgotten threads. on: August 01, 2023, 06:28:07 AM
If I say something wrong please correct I will take corrections.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I don't think you've said anything that should be considered wrong by airing your view. I'm a lover of history and I think you've a point in your suggestion. However, the type of old threads I would love to see revived are threads that discussed the early days of Bitcoin and those funny less than $500 ATH predictions made. I meant threads from the inception of this forum to 2015. I read some of those threads and I realize how greatly things have changed here, including posting habits and ranking up.
1138  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to grow the bitcoin you have? on: July 31, 2023, 06:21:20 PM
How to grow the bitcoin you have without being involved in gambling or putting it in a custody wallet for APY. Is there any proven low risk method.
If you're a greenhorn in trading, the proven low risk method to grow your Bitcoin would be simply to hodl in a safe wallet you have its Pkey or complete control. For anyone who doesn't understand jack about trading at a time like we've now, they got in here at the right time. Just buy Bitcoin and wait for its mandatory rise in price as halving draws near. Wait and then take profit after 2024. Thereafter, buy back after the rally.
1139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Really Burn helps Token in positive way? on: July 31, 2023, 05:39:12 PM
Yes, token burning is a positive thing in tokenomics as it helps reduce maximum supply and expectedly creates scarcity. Scarcity creates demand. Demand causes price to flip. However, it's not the only thing that should cause price to rally up. I think use-case or utility of a token is more important than its burning. If a token has utility that investors already know of, and then the project decides to burn; that becomes an instant spike in price to the upside. I must confess that most noob investors would rather think of token burning than they think of its utility.
1140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin (DOGE) on: July 31, 2023, 05:00:49 PM
Is DOGE Coin's Rise a Sign of the Future of Cryptocurrencies, or a Fleeting Internet Meme Phenomenon?
I don't know about Dogecoin's rise being a sign of the future of cryptocurrencies but I do know that Doge isn't just an ordinary memecoin. No, it's not even though it was created as joke. I've used it a few times and I can say that it's speed and ease of transaction confirmation is commendable. For those saying it's just a meme coin, they should pause and ask themselves why Doge is still thriving till date. What happened to most of the top listed coins that are dead now while Doge isn't?
