I am not anti-trusted layers... but I will not be parking any significant value on any of them, that's for sure.

Yes that’s always true “Not your keys, Not your coins”

One question how much can we trust these third party wallets then? Specially these wallets on our mobile apps. Although they give us access to the private keys but still can we trust them? I have been using Jaxx. But often I will open my wallet to confirm my coins are still there or some developer of Jaxx have already transferred my funds to some cold wallet :p

My coins are in cold storage only, just a small amount to fck around with shitcoins is on exchanges.

Delta gives me enough overview of everything, no need to access my coins via phone.

Same here. Delta for a price overview (no specific portfolio of my coins in there, not even via a password), and all coins in cold storage. Actually they're literally freezing cold, considering they're now at the bottom of the sea after my boating accident. Now I stack Doge and pray for a dip below Vegeta levels.

Well any way... sorry to tell you guys... but you all are wrong... it's an ant!!

You are wrong, it's an Elephant Ant!!! Such huge, I never seen in my life 😂

Naah. It's an elephANT!

[...]

Main theme: You still have keys to your btc, but able to lend it out.

Sorry, Biodom, but the above highlighted statement doesn't make any sense. Either you misread it, or they're lying to you.

Edit:

WOers: just try to be extra careful in what you believe out there. Now that Bitcoin is slowly but noticeably gaining the recognition it deserves, and its price is approaching $100k/BTC, there will be loads of "profit schemes" (this reminds me of something) appearing like mushrooms, to tempt you into giving custody of your BTC to them, so that you can "earn interest" by lending your coins out. So, you could end up handing over your precious keys to some website that promises 10% interest or other tempting offer, and at some point you won't be able to log-in, and then you'll know your coins are gone! Don't be greedy. Bitcoin's price has risen so much over the years, and will continue to get even higher, up to $millions/BTC. What more do you want? Does an extra 10% gain on your stash really justify handing over your keys? Fuck NO!

Don't be a fool.
Don't be a weak hand.
Don't mindrust your stash away.
Just HoDL.

Cute little ant-pump.

The aforementioned 50k € / $59k sink is holding strong I see... $60k is proving to be a tough nut to crack.

So close, and yet so far away...

Come on, Bitcoin, do something! You nasty, kinky, sexy orange fuck!

first one who guesses my end destination somewhere around here gets merited

One clue I’ll be here all day and tomorrow probably

moon

obvious answer is obvious answer.

Confirmed by current price action.

Keep going, Dude!

Probably too far away, and not even possible due to COVID-19, but...

...you're crossing the border, visiting Citadelle de Lille.

We've got a sequel to "It’s going up forever Laura":

Is this a haiku?

I have a feeling
Bitcoin will rise to the moon
We all will be rich

Sorry I just used to write normal poems, didn't get that haiku seed in me.

Anyways, happy Easter and stuff, remember to drink enough (I know the Dude and Bob are for sure).

Yes, this is a fine haiku.
Both in execution and in substance.

I would like to see Bitcoin at $1,000,000 as much as anyone in here, but will be hard to enjoy it while eating a $1000 big mac.

The only way this can happen is if you buy that Big Mac now with Bitcoin.
1190  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 03, 2021, 10:41:55 AM
@Jimbo is an exception.

Most older men I knew did not last more than 10 years after retirement.
Of course, if you manage a ranch or a complex investment portfolio, it could be a different story.
Rolling Stones never retired (Keith and Mic are both 77). Not for the lack of funds, right?
Same for Paul. They do what they like-that is probably a solution.

I "retired" (i.e. stopped being an employee) in my 20s.

It's indeed all about doing what you like.

The stress of disrupting your lifelong routine is what kills people. Get that crap over with while you're still young.

If you look it like that it's the same for me, early 20's. Been doing what I like and haven't been "an employee" for a very long time now. I do my own schedules and work when I see fit. Obviously it's not been so great moneywise all the time but still better than slaving for "normal" wages.

Same here. I've been doing what I like since my 20s, and would pay good money to do what I do now, so I can't complain. Money-wise it's just the average salary, won't make you rich, but there's Bitcoin to take care of that.

In other news, it seems that there's a sink (think non-linear dynamics) around 50k € (around $59k). There are fat-ant dippenings, that are quickly counteracted by equally-sized pumpenings. Someone earlier mentioned a dick that's ready to burst—that's a nice analogy that prepares one mentally for the things to come when we reach $100k (hookers and all).

Off to to visit my little nieces/nephews soon (against COVID-19 restrictions, I must admit). Hope to see $60k behind us when I'm back.

Take care all, have a great weekend.

Dippenings, pumpenings, thanks JJG! #nohomo

I hate it when I click on a link and instead of opening in a new tab, it leaves WO, and then I close the tab to return to WO, and there's no WO.

Good morning NFT buffs WOers!

fNFTs were cute, but I wasn't so much into it. There's no fun in being given 1000 BTC for free, just like that. And who wants MySQL-settled NFTs anyways? I want dee blockchainz!

I see we are close to Euro-ATH again, currently @ 50,640 € (ATH = 51,000 €). Also, getting very close to $60k again, and need another $2,000 for reaching USD-ATH due to exchange rate fluctuations.

So, business as usual, all is fine, and the path to $100k is slowly but surely being paved. If we reach $65k by mid-April and $70k by end of April I'll be happy(er). April will surely be a fun month, as will the entire 2021. This will likely be the year when the $100k milestone will be reached, and hopefully left far behind. If this happens, it will cause me (as I'm sure may other WOers too) to make some drastic changes to my real life, such as a reconsideration of my employment status and overall life planning. Well, I've almost said this again for $10k when we were at $5k back in 2017, but I didn't do it, so there is a small possibility that, upon reaching $100k, I will then set my life-changing milestone to $200k, then $500k, then $1M. See where this is going? The thing is, though, that Bitcoin is immortal and we're not. So, as we get older, we should start coinsidering (typo, but I won't correct it) actually using (a fraction of) out corn for real-life enjoyment, pleasures and/or debauchery, or whatever rocks each one's boat. I want my stash to be close to 0 BTC when I die.

I love you guys!
This is the best thread ever. I hope I won't get banned!

As for your equation, just by looking at it I'm guessing that it's an infinite product approximation of something that roughly behaves like sinc(x) = sin(x)/x, and is also shifted by Pi/2 on the x-axis.

it has the property

f(x) f(-x) = \frac{\sin x}{x}

So I wasn't too far off... Interesting property. Does the equation have any practical application, say, in digital filtering, sampling or similar? Or was it constructed just for the lulz?

Been thinking about selling the equation in my avatar ... how do I collect royalties if someone invents something incredibly lucrative using it?

You'd need to fix the last bracket, otherwise no respected equation connoisseur will buy it.

I would rather fix the first bracket (after the product), so as to be consistent with the size of the object inside the bracket pair... But, surely, even fixing the last bracket is a step in the right direction, and adds the necessary symmetry to the pair.

You have an eye for detail, Phil_S. I'm impressed.

An issue of the \large vs. \Large thingy?

... it's ok to critique on style when your intellect doesnt allow for critiquing on content

... but I'm quite happy with bracket asymmetry thanx, taking creative licence on this point

... if you want to choose your own bracket geometries that's fine but you'll have to start by discovering your own fucking equations

Why not take care of both style and content?

Am I close? Can you enlighten us? Or is it top-secret?  Grin

Edit: Fixed typo.

Wow, more (LA)TEX fans... Nice!

I think math mode should automatically take care of bracket sizes, and in an optimal way.

Good morning WOers!

Out of all the days of the year (in which I've been working from home almost exclusively), it just so happens that I must physically go to work TODAY! Damn.

Corn is doing fine I see. So, off I go, and I'll catch you guys ('n' gal) again online in about 8 hours. <--- Corn @ $60k+ by then!

Probably just me but I really don't like Nolan's non Batman movies.

After Tenet I decided to just not bother with his stuff anymore.

Really?
I thought that "Inception" was pretty cool.

Interstellar (2014) too. One of the best movies I've ever watched. I'm a fan of Nolan's work, so I'm biased, but there's no argument that his work is unique and truly departs from the traditional, predictable, stereotypical style of movie making. Certainly not for everyone's taste.

A second viewing is almost essential (to me at least) for many of his movies, in order to fully appreciate the finer details, and make all the connections between the characters, events, objects, and timeline.

I see we're back where we were yesterday. Where's the volatility? Is Bitcoin turning into a stablecoin?

Here's the direct link to the full article:

People's Expensive NFTs Keep Vanishing. This Is Why

What a mess... Not the way I imagined NFTs to function—I'm a total NFT newbie, so I can't really have an informed opinion, but based on the very few things I've read so far, it doesn't look so good...

Here's another relevant article:

People Are Stealing Art and Turning It Into NFTs

I don't think this NFT craze (as currently implemented) will end well...

It feels so good to wake up and witness a series of new € ATH's (the last was 50876 Bitstamp price)! Hopefully soon we lift-off from the $ ATH as well.

Yeah, a great start of the day. USD-ATH will need another +$2,000 due to EUR/USD exchange rates, which have changed since the last ATH, as explained here.

Looking forward to it.

BTW, what's the reason for the pump this time? PayPal?
