1221  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to know an account has been blacklisted or put on ignored. on: July 11, 2023, 08:19:29 AM
How do I proceed with such a delimma?
Don't see it as a dilemma; even if you find out that you're being ignored. See it as you not posting enough in boards where those who are generous with merits post in. Again, know that merit giving is as much as subjective as one feels tagging posts as spam. It's all in the judgment of the person doing the appraisal. I don't think it's about your post quality because I don't see you as a shitposter. I guess it's about time you reviewed where you post and see how things change.
1222  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why Crypto may go wrong for some people on: July 11, 2023, 06:46:11 AM
CONCLUSION
Crypto isn't for lazy people. It involves research and continuous learning. It may look bored if money isn't made in the first few months but will definitely make you smile after months of endurance.
This is the part most noobs in this industry don't want to listen to. They think coming into cryptos is a shortcut to wealth. That once they invest in any type of coin it's enough to turn into a "Bitcoin" overnight. Most of these ones erroneously opine that those who've been in this game but haven't hit it big aren't doing the right thing. They quickly forget (perhaps they don't even know this) that there's no certainty when it comes to cryptos. Nothing is guaranteed. Luck is the ultimate card. Though one has to take that luck far by investing in a seemingly credible coin first. No investment, no luck.
1223  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is ahead is very dangerous on: July 10, 2023, 08:22:13 PM
We have this mentality to take advantage of what's free. There's always this logic that you're not paying for it so what can you lose? If I can get a dollar out of it, it's still worth it because it's for free.
You captured it well. Those who want to capitalize on the purported freebies often get themselves burnt by it. It's a bait. For me I believe there's no free meal anywhere, one has to sweat it out first before reaping the benefit. I've had to argue with those who say that since there isn't going to be any monetary commitment on their part they aren't losing out on anything even if it goes sour. My question to them is always "What about your time invested in it?" Time, they say, is money.
1224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in altcoins is a hedge over Bitcoin how true is this? on: July 10, 2023, 07:44:06 PM
What makes people think that if Bitcoin crash other coins won't follow, it is practical expected event thats is bound to occur any period btc market slides other coins does the same
It's an observation I've also come to make too. Whenever Bitcoin dips, alts (most) also dips. Bitcoin activity is a precursor to alts behaviour. If anyone watches closely they should be able to decode all that. Most times I take my cue from Bitcoin to find entry points in alts I'm buying. It's the same pattern that makes alts gain momentum and push into bull rally after Bitcoin must've had its. Investors take out the profit they make during Bitcoin bull and ploy into alts to chase further profit and that gives rise to bullishness in alts. I expect that scenario to come up again when Bitcoin records a new ATH after its halving.
1225  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I make an anonymous post? on: July 10, 2023, 06:09:31 PM
what's wrong with your Turn it off account? it seems anonymous enough to me, i don't know you nor see your email either so that's enough being anon in this forum.
But of course, everyone is anonymous here if we all go by that explanation of yours. However, the type of anonymous OP talked about there is a more secretive type. If you checked very well you would've realised how user anonymous doesn't have any link to their profile. To state it, I believe that "anonymous" account isn't just an ordinary account. I suspect it's an admin account. That account even posted recently, about a year ago. So, we can't say it's a throwaway account.
1226  Other / Meta / Re: Forum working SLOW? on: July 10, 2023, 05:26:43 PM
I also observed the same thing. At first I thought probably I had run out of data or something but discovered I still had enough. Then I tried checking in only to discover the issue is from the bitcointalk browser. The rate at which this is occurring is becoming disturbing and this should be like the fourth if not fifth time such a challenge is being encountered.
Yes, I agree with you on it becoming too frequent this day and that's beginning to get scary I must say. I think the earlier things are done to rectify this the better for all like how the forum was able to find a way round the Imgur palavar almost immediately it began. Do I say I was lucky to have escaped this widespread bitter experience that littered the forum since yesterday as I was offline while it lingered yesterday.
1227  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best crypto savings on: July 10, 2023, 04:33:29 PM
I would never advise investing in the projects you suggested, because completely centralized tokens like the one you mention from one CEX have some value only as long as their company operates stably, and we all know that if nothing else they are deep in the gray zone and under investigations around the world.
By inference, it's clear you're referring to Binance (correct me if I'm wrong). Can't we say CZ has really tried with his exchange so far despite that's a Cex? I mean, since 2017 that Binance came on the scene and was greeted with all that skepticism and criticism but it's still weathering the storm till date. I think we should give to it its flowers.

As for those outrightly condemning investment in altcoins, they should do their research very well before making a blanket generalization. Again, we need alts in the industry to make the competition worth it. While I can advise noobs to concentrate on Bitcoin, I will tell those who've certain measurable grip of the industry to split their portfolio into Bitcoin and alts. It mustn't be all about Bitcoin. There are also viable altcoins out there.
1228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My personal savings now I will invest in Bitcoin on: July 10, 2023, 03:17:16 PM
I'll get roughly $1800, I don't think it's much of a savings to keep that money in the bank.
Bangladesh is a poor country just like my country and you say $1,800 isn't much? Really?

Quote
Because of the economic condition of Bangladesh, I want to invest my money in Bitcoin. I still don't understand if my decision is right, please let me know your opinion
Investing into Bitcoin at a time like this will be a great decision you will be making. Apart from the fact that the market is expectant of a bull rally soon (that's if we aren't in it already) because of Bitcoin halving next year, putting it in it serves as an anti-inflation strategy. Cash poured into Bitcoin never loses its value.
1229  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Is It Good For Local Crypto Forum To Include Other Interest To Attract More.. on: July 10, 2023, 12:21:32 PM
Is it good for local forums to include other interests to attract more traffic,
Yes, it's good to get more topics going. If limited to only Bitcoin discussion, that could be monotonous and boring. Monotony, they say, kills interest. Getting other interests apart from that on Bitcoin will surely excite and energize posts and opinions. For instance, there are members who come here without having the faintest idea of what Bitcoin is. Such members should've somewhere to start from while grappling with discussions on Bitcoin.

Quote
we all know Bitcointalk is an international forum dedicated to the promotion of Bitcoin, and being the first makes them the number one forum about Bitcoin...
No one is disputing that and I believe the major reason it remains number one and top over other fora isn't because it was the first to be created but because of its post and earn opportunity. I'm yet to see another forum that's like this forum in terms of such incentives.

Quote
And do you have a local Cryptocurrency forum in your country?
Nope, I wouldn't say there's any of such in my country, Nigeria. However, we do have many P2P groups on WhatsApp and Telegram.

1231  Other / Meta / Re: Forum having issues? on: July 09, 2023, 06:28:07 PM
Very slow download since yesterday. Especially when you make transitions by topic, there is a constant check for security.
This site being down or dragging to load up is becoming one too many recently. I sincerely hope it's not something untoward or that which could destabilize this forum, anyway.
1232  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trade with caution on: July 09, 2023, 04:47:19 PM
I know I'm knew here but after reading what investors pass through for the loss they experience in trading,
Investors aren't traders per se. These are two different things even if they're related. Investors think of investments. Traders think of trading. The semblance investors have with trading is when they're offloading to the market yhey cryptos they invested in. Hodlers will better fit investors description than calling them traders.

To the main gist, whether one is cautious trading or not one is more likely to blow off one's trading capital if one doesn't have the basic skill set for trading. It's that simple and has nothing to do with trading frighteningly.
1233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Avoid Procrastination, Buy Bitcoin And Prepare For The Next Halving. on: July 08, 2023, 08:33:06 PM
~
There are some people who likes to see physical assets rather than virtual assets as if they can see a real value on their investment and they receive some assurance on where there money gets. It's like buying on malls rather than on an online shop.
I've such people around me. The annoying part for me with them is that it's not even as if they've tried this stuff in practical reality before condemning it. There's this rave right now in my country with online banks springing up without any physical addresses. Many of my compatriots aren't embracing that, thinking anything online can shutdown any day without any trace. That can be true but then these online banks have been really tremendous with their quick services, better than the physical banks we've. I patronize one of the banks, though not throwing in my all in that account. I rather test something new and innovative than not try it at all and then condemn it ignorantly. This is what many do online, condemning what they barely have an idea of.
1234  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you prefer to own a luxury watch or invest in bitcoin or other assets? on: July 08, 2023, 05:44:07 PM
Prominent examples of such watches include Patek Philippe, Rolex, and Audemars Piguet, some of which have a waitlist spanning two years. Most of these watches tend to appreciate in value...

If given the choice, would you prefer to own a luxury watch or invest in bitcoin, digital assets, gold, stocks, or real estate?
I'm sure a lot of users here will pick investing in Bitcoin over exotic watches. Take this same question to other fora peopled by those who don't think much of Bitcoin, you can guess what their answers would be.

Back to what you said here, "Most of these watches tend to appreciate in value", so it's not like the watches are even bad investment like stuff that depreciates in value. Therefore, anyone who chooses to invest in those watches is also making a wise investment decision. For me though, I'm not a watch crazy person, I will pick investment in Bitcoin over that of watches.
1235  Economy / Economics / Re: Ignore this Classic Business Law or Follow Your Instincts? on: July 08, 2023, 05:00:35 PM
They say do not invest in what you do not understand which was largely the principle the speaker adhered to but what if despite not immediately understanding the business model and its profit making model yet your business instinct pushing you to invest. What should you do? Listen to the former or follow your instincts?
His story, despite turning good for the fintech company, still didn't mean he should rue how he didn't take his chances and invested the $100k he would've done. He shouldn't regret it. Yes, I know businesses of all shades are not without risk but I would rather take a calculated risk than take a blind one which contradicts my investment principle. No doubt, the way the man in that story felt about missing out on that deal will be the same feeling for those who missed out on Bitcoin when it debuted.
1236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Avoid Procrastination, Buy Bitcoin And Prepare For The Next Halving. on: July 08, 2023, 03:00:41 PM
I've had conversations with several individuals and I found out that most them are fully aware of the benefits of cryptocurrency at large but are still having doubts or would I rather say the fear of the unknown due to the unstable price of bitcoin
Those who still feel that only online businesses  and cryptocurrency investments are fraught with risk should wake up from their slumbers. Risk is an every day thing and it cuts across all strata. Whether online or offline with physical addresses, risk is there. I've seen businesses get knocked down in demolition for contravening government policies or roadmap and millions of hard earned cash go down the drain. Yet, those aren't online businesses. Those who've made up their minds to pursue online investments shouldn't allow themselves be discouraged by the ignorance of others.

As for procrastination, what's happening now may seem a child's play to those who haven't experienced halving before. They rather get on the bus now or wait and watch price movement once rally commences. It's always a joy to watch how price rallies upward during such time.
1237  Other / Off-topic / Re: When learning stops. on: July 08, 2023, 12:59:03 PM
Let's say a newbie without any clue as to how this place converses or how cryptocurrencies or the decentralized network operates, may have to experience a hard time learning the new terms and learning from the wisdom of those who have succeeded.
One of these two things must be responsible for anyone's entry to this forum – It's either they came here with a genuine interest and passion to learn or a passion to earn a living. Whichever of these two, the person coming here would still end up learning, otherwise they will remain stagnated. Those who head straight to bounties upon registering and indulging social media tasks will still be learning too from the different engagements they get into and their interactions on other sites.

Talking about people ceasing to learn, they say that's the day they will stop to exist or die. There's something about the human mind that makes individuals appear stagnant if they don't task their brains in learning new stuff. We all know how different tech used to be three decades ago compared to what it's today. This is the same thing that happens to the human mind that stops learning.
1238  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it too late for newbies? on: July 08, 2023, 10:44:44 AM
Hello guys,
I'm happy to be part of this community, and so far I've realized that everyone is more experienced than me, so I don't know how logical it is to ask this question, but I'll ask it anyway.
Well, for the sake of artificial humility we could accept you saying that everyone here is more experienced than you're but in the real sense it's not that way. You could still be more experienced and logical than some high ranked members who aren't asking this same question for fear of being thought inexperienced.

Is it the right time to invest in Bitcoin?
I ain't sure there's any other time that will be better than now. This is putting into consideration the fact that next year is Bitcoin halving year and the expectation is that a bull rally will be imminent. Already, we feel that surge coming on even before 2024. Buy now and stop dilly-dallying on it. However, make sure it's the amount you won't miss you're putting into such investment.
1239  Other / Meta / Re: Know who ignores who on: July 08, 2023, 09:50:16 AM
Try again, I'm not the one who said that.
Oh, my bad! 🙆‍♀️. Spotted now. I already feel a bit dizzy from the discombobulation. Fixed now. Thanks.
1240  Other / Meta / Re: Know who ignores who on: July 08, 2023, 08:14:58 AM
I find that ambivalence amusing. How do you get to or still want to read from someone you've ignored? That means they're a good read and you can't resist them 🤷
Please fix your quote.
Thanks. I think it's ok now.
