1261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2024 will determined bitcoin fate on: July 02, 2023, 06:17:32 PM
Here’s how I see the halving-price correlation:
- 2012 halving 2013 ATH
- 2016 halving 2017 ATH
- 2020 halving 2021 ATH
- 2024 halving … you get it Cheesy
You're absolutely right on the timing for bull rally. I witnessed the 2017 and 2021 ATHs and how they played out and later went into bear rally a year after ATH. I've come to conclude (as it were now) that the bullish run begins to manifest a year before Bitcoin halving and then gets to its crescendo a year after halving. We're in 2023 (pre-halving year) and Bitcoin isn't showing any sign of weakness. It goes to show how prepared investors are gearing towards getting in before the halving year itself. Of course, the expected rally that will take Bitcoin to an unprecedented height in 2025 will be without comparison. I want to believe that newbies to this industry are already preparing themselves for 2025 to enjoy the momentum by making investment a priority.
1262  Other / Meta / Re: What does post quality really mean on: July 02, 2023, 04:39:41 PM
Like does it mean  someone with and account say
Activity;50
Merit;87
Post;51

Has more quality post or is a better poster than someone with say
Activity;100
Merit;87
Posts;150
It's neither of the two illustrations above or any other elsewhere. I'm one of the very few who have continued to insist that meriting posts is a subjective matter. It's the same way we say generally that, "beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder." Anyone meriting any post(s) does that from the angle that they like what's written which may not be seen or perceived by others as such. Going forward, OP should know that the number of merits a user has doesn't equate quality posting from the said user. If you look closely, you can see several profiles with good post quality but they hardly get merited or merited enough.
1263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How I got my stubborn neighbour working for a central bank to adopt Bitcoin on: July 02, 2023, 06:57:57 AM
I'm sure that some of your colleagues are using and investing in it, only that you won't know.
Definitely, that's what's happening. Your neighbour isn't the sociable type, otherwise he would've known there were some of his colleagues who were into Bitcoin investment. I've a friend who works for a multinational company, he said whenever the issue of Bitcoin or cryptocurrency bashing came up in the office he would act like he hadn't any idea of what it was. He said he didn't have the strength of convincing those who had already made up their minds what not to reason. They were only two of them who were into it in that office. My friend has been investing in lunchpads and making extra bucks behind the scene. It's the same thing I would do in such an environment. For privacy sakes, I don't let those around know me know this day that I'm into Bitcoin stuff. I did the "telling everyone" thing when I started way back 2017 –2018. I can easily teach people online but not those around who aren't in my circle of friends.

I couldn't believe it!!! Can you imagine like a play, I was able to convince a whole CBN man to do 1BTC?
Don't see it that way. Nothing makes him "whole". Some of those well placed individuals are ignorant of certain little things. I got the shock of my life when I asked a banker neighbour of mine a few years ago if he was into Forex trading only for him to get lost. Dude started asking me what Forex trading was. I thought he was joking until we started talking and I realized he wasn't joking. A banker, not knowing what Forex trading was the height of entitlement. It's the same thing with a CBN staff not having an iota of idea what Bitcoin is.
1264  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We All Know, The halving time will be full of drama on: July 01, 2023, 08:14:52 PM
but I don't know why many people forget and still spread FUD everywhere. If they understand that and know it always happens on every 4 years, they shall be calm and relaxed to face SEC, Binance, or anything drama.
I don't believe those who spread FUD around halving time forget anything. It's a strategy to cause panic and dump so they can get in at lower prices. It's whales doings and every close watcher shouldn't get distracted by that. I first experienced this scenario in 2017. After that I made up my mind not to be shaken by anything negative on Bitcoin anymore. I encourage everyone to be resolute hodling Bitcoin till next bull rally and expected ATH in 2025 before taking profit.
1265  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: One or more trading strategies, which one do you prefer? on: July 01, 2023, 06:14:47 PM
If a single indicator can make you profit from your trading every time you trigger a trade I don't see why you should complicate it by introducing more indicators. Simplicity is best at a situation like that. Having fancy indicators crisscrossing one's charts isn't the best, especially when their signals conflict and throw one into losses. For me, I rely mainly on leading indicators of Lines like pivots, S&R, trendlines, PA and then I've it at the back of my mind that there's no holy grail. In trading, everything is speculative and no certitude it can't go otherwise.
1266  Other / Meta / Re: Is it allowed to post in English in a Local Section on: July 01, 2023, 11:29:09 AM
But a local board, to me, will be more interesting if the natives of the place can communicate in their respective languages; that's what makes it a local board, so that they themselves will be the ones who could possibly understand themselves better.
That's the way I see it too. You too sabi wetin dey. Yes, I agree that each local board has its own rule and if it's strictly stated what medium/media of exchange is (are) allowed, it shouldn't be an issue writing in another language other than the country's local language. Like you stated, communicating in one's local language acts does have it advantages as a unifying factor and drives the message home faster than when English is used. Also, writing in English language in local exposes the board to spam posting from those (lurkers) who aren't completely in the know of the main gist at hand but would want to contribute to complete weekly quota. I would prefer code-mixing to outright writing/speaking in English.
1267  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The price dropping, any reason the huge dump? on: July 01, 2023, 09:36:20 AM
It's basically because apparently the SEC is saying that the Bitcoin spot ETF filings are "inadequate". Not sure how major/minor this news actually is, but it's definitely what people reacted to.
Sometimes I wonder why Bitcoin fans allow the dumbass SEC manipulate them into dumping. Why any negative news from SEC even make any hodler and adherent flinch is what I don't understand. In my few years in this industry I've come to realize the place of time and season to the point that I always know it's just a matter of time for every dip to act as price correction. Again, I think these SEC dudes know how to shake the market so they can get in cheap. I'm sure some of them hodl and trade these cryptocurrencies they antagonize in the open. It's a mind game.

I expect Tinubu to put toll gate in every state in the country before the end of his first term. Anyone who thinks Tinubu will “let the poor breathe” as he famously says, is either dreaming or living in a fairytale.
Dem dey whine. Leave dem. Even those wey dey defend dis APC government go soon begin hide dem faces like fans of Davido are doing now as dem King Kong go chop abroad nor clean mouth. Wait make the election money wey dem collect finish first, every eye go clear. Owa greatest problem for dis naija na selfishness.
1269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gospel Preachers: Is Bitcoin the Last Currency in the World? on: June 29, 2023, 04:45:39 PM
OP, you aren't alone in that conception. I think it was a scriptural teaching that was loud in our country while we were teenagers. It's the ecumenical movement. Notably, such teaching has been overtaken by the lure of modern material appeals that no one seems to care anymore what happens next. People are getting less godly and to the point they're less concerned about rightful living.

Well, to tell you the truth that the "one-currency" spoken off (if it ever gets to that point) won't be Bitcoin. I say that with confidence because Bitcoin depends on the internet for its workability. Sadly, there are nations of the world that don't have steady electricity supply let alone internet facilities. How are those nations going to assess the "one-currency" then? So, obviously it's not Bitcoin.
1270  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: If you get motor, you go pay 1k for proof of Ownership from July on: June 28, 2023, 10:57:46 PM
₦1000 is not much of a big money that someone that owns a car cannot afford within a period of 1 year. For every new policy that the federal government is introducing it must have been scrutinized carefully before giving the approval. If it has no positive impact it wouldn’t have been implemented.
Dude, wake up. Tinubu is known for his taxes. He did it in Lagos as governor and people suffered under dat law. Na d same thing im go wan do as president. Make everibodi brace up for d Renewed Shege warning up for Rumuokoro 😆. By the way, you dey see N1k as nothing. Na until you do calculation on top am you go know sey nor be small cash. Just do 10 million vehicles X N1k first and tell us the scores. Again, d money for really nor be issue if dem go use am do something. You and I sabi sey na embezzlement dey load for dat money head so. Thieves in government everywhere. Tinubu's government will be worse than Buhari own.
1271  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What steps should I take to succeed here? on: June 27, 2023, 04:47:07 PM
Hello everyone!
I'm new here and happy to be part of this community, hopefully, to gain more knowledge about BTC and cryptocurrency, hope I'm in the right place.
I'm still trying to study how things work here.
Please, I would like to get your advice.
Thanks, everyone.
If those are the major reason you're here for, no doubt you will succeed at it. However, you also need to put in the work and not expect anyone to babysit you or continually nudge you on what to do every now and then. Read and search the forum for anything you find perplexing. It could be that such topics had already been covered before you asked. I've seen users come here and after a while dump their accounts and scamper off. I hope you won't join in their inglorious number.

This forum is rich in relevant Bitcoin related materials and knowledge. All you've to do is patience at learning.
1272  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best non Kyc exchange on: June 27, 2023, 02:17:35 PM
If you're given lists of centralized exchanges that are KYC free now but you don't ever intend to go through any type of KYC in future, I will advise you don't even start with any of them. At some point in future, these KYC-free exchanges now will ask for KYC. If Binance which was KYC free when it debuted in 2017 could later mandate its subscribers to go through KYC, I don't want to trust that any other KYC free exchanges now won't toe that line later. Wait till these exchanges have grown their subscriber base and see them change like the chameleon. OP, your best bet should be to go to Dexs which are absolutely KYC free.
1273  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto scam on: June 27, 2023, 12:21:09 PM
or with donation i dont have more money i need money back.
I strongly believe that nothing of such which you alluded to in your post happened to you. You merely put up that story line just to solicit funds, as exemplified in the bolded, nothing more. You've to remember that begging of any kind, whether cash or merit, is against the forum rules and regulation.
1274  Economy / Services / Re: Someone Paid Me $2,500 in April And Forgot... on: June 27, 2023, 11:34:07 AM
Oh, no! You just opened up yourself for evil ones to come up with claims they're the one. I hope you've a way to sieve that, anyway. Do let the forum know once those who will masquerade themselves as the right person come up (they will come) so we can take appropriate sanctions on them.

By the way, has the thought of the person you're looking for passing on occurred to you? It's a possibility too. We're in a perilous time and news of death aren't scarce any more.
1275  Other / Meta / Re: Hiding your Profile name in Public place ? on: June 27, 2023, 11:24:27 AM

I remember LoyceV saying that he uses Loyce mobile while on transit or so, that also shows that you  can have the need to use the forum in the public place.
In LoyceV's case, I believe the user talked about people not contacting them on the moniker that's strictly for when they're on the move because it's not as secured as the main account. We aren't taking about security of account here but privacy.

I ain't against opening this site when in public space. I use the phone version of this site. I access it on the go all the time but it's no big deal for me hiding it. In fact, no one would even know I'm accessing it while I'm in their midst. I open the site and scroll up or zoom in immediately to hide the "Hello Mpamaegbu" part if I'm in a crowded space. Otherwise, I just do my stuff unnoticed. Except you draw attention, most people would think you're just on any regular site and not one dedicated to cryptos.
1276  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting Some Merit really boosted my motivation on: June 27, 2023, 10:19:31 AM
I gave you 5, but I stopped looking when I saw that enormous image that you posted.
It hurts the eyes. I wonder why they do it without resizing the frames. They could simply look at how those with smaller frames did theirs and learn from them. This issue is same with those who make posts in capital letters all through. Though this has been reduced drastically now unlike what it was in the past here.

I admit, yes, that I also felt the excitement of receiving merits before my legendary rank. What that meant to me was that some members already recognized me and were benefiting from my posts. I always went back to study any post I got as much as three merits on to identify what "sense" I made in there that warranted such merit. It's a good feeling OP, nothing to be ashamed of there. Every veteran here felt that way, I can assure you of that.
1277  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Teacher and Classmates Labeling Bitcoin as a Ponzi Scheme or a Scam on: June 27, 2023, 09:13:55 AM
For instance, he often asks questions like, "Uncle, what is bitcoin?" or "Is it a type of currency? Can I have one?" We do our best to explain the concept to him, but sometimes he grasps it easily while other times he struggles to understand. What I do know is that this young boy is displaying a keen interest in the subject.
I wonder why he would understand it awhile and then forget it. Is it that your teaching methodology isn't simplified for his age? The first time my less than 10-year old son asked me what Bitcoin was. I took out just give minutes to tell him it's money just like the fiat he's used to but that Bit (computer language) is computer Coin. It's money accessible on the Internet. He understood it and hasn't asked again in perplexity. I left it that simple without compounding it with the asset side of it. Yes, I believe Bitcoin is both coin and asset.

Quote
Recently, he expressed his frustration about his teacher and classmates labeling bitcoin as a ponzi scheme or a scam each time he talks about it. I'm seeking a variety of advice that I can offer to my nephew in this situation.
Tell your nephew to assess his teacher by what he (your nephew) knows and is sure of to judge the level of knowledge his teacher has 😆. Not everyone is that intelligible, whether they're teachers or not. My son's teacher once told him and his classmates that there was nothing like a Flying fish. I showed my son videos of flying fish on YouTube to dispel his teacher's opinion.
1278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who Buys Bitcoin When The Price is 100k$? on: June 27, 2023, 08:09:17 AM
When you buy Bitcoin hen the price is 100k$ then...
Which one be Bitcoin hen, again kwanu 🤔?

Quote
What will be you faith/fate. Many companies stopped function last year because they accumulated a lot of Bitcoin when the price was high and they were thinking that the price would go up for them to sell them off and make their profit from there but instead the price of Bitcoin drastically come down very well. So the companies  enter bankruptcy and folded.
Anyway, I'm sure this same line of questioning also emanated a few years ago when the early adopters never thought Bitcoin could get to even $1k and they felt those who were supposedly buying high at $50, $100 before it dipped couldn't make back their money, let alone profiting from it. Fast forward to the present, every keen watcher of Bitcoin will tell you that the next bull rally will spike Bitcoin to above $120k. Historical data gives us that assurance. We judge the future by assessing the past. That's what data does.
1279  Other / Meta / Re: Hiding your Profile name in Public place ? on: June 27, 2023, 06:55:16 AM
sometime when I was on the outside of home and browsing forum I have to maintain the security to hide my identity then I need to hide my forum name  for not to be noticed by someone . And that is what these scripts do.
If the only need for such "turning off" is just to hide one's username on top but it doesn't cut across previous posts made, I don't see its usefulness. If anyone doesn't feel comfortable people peeping into their devices while they open them in open space, then it's only reasonable not to open it at all when in such place(s). Sometimes, we throw ourselves into unnecessary secrecy by hiding things that aren't even relevant hiding. That's the way I see this approach.
1280  Other / Meta / Re: Another birthday - how about an octogenarian club here? on: June 27, 2023, 06:22:08 AM
It is personal but I'd like to know did you have any plan for bitcoins you own in future? Inheritance to your sons, daughters or anyone you love.
I ain't sure he's going to be open as to gift you a response to that, and rightly so. Privacy issues.

I know @theymos and @fillippone would be around this range...
I don't have an idea what Fillippone's age is but I know theymos is a very young dude. He should be in his late 30s, not anywhere close to OP.

Happy Close to a Century Celebration, Jetcash. Those of us coming up the ladder appreciate your strength of character and vibrancy.
