1581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2014 Proof of Honor (POH) Awards - Nominate an Individual! on: November 18, 2014, 04:13:40 AM
I would like to nominate rat4 (BlackCoin) for being a smart developer with no bullshit. He's helped fix security issues in other coins. He just wants to write proper code and doesn't seem to be in this for the gains.

That is just hilarious Max, hilarious. Given that he allowed full co-operation with the Black Hand in cahoots with his paisan "The Doge"... like I said, downright hilarious.
1582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What is going on with the mining (and the blockchain explorer) on BYC? on: November 18, 2014, 03:48:28 AM
While some report that their old computer is getting them a lot of free mined BYC, most complain because, for the last 12 hours (November 17th), theior most advance3s computers with the latest version available of the wallet have mined... nothing. What is going on?

I don't have the answers but I know at the time of this writing the las block mined was #6990 and, according to this: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/byc/ 225,790 coins were outstanding... what does "outstanding" really means? Is that figure correct at all? What is going on that blockchain explorer?

I want to believe there's a very easy explanation for what follows, but at this point it al seems very, very suspicious. Hopefully it's just my nature to be suspicious and there's a perfectly simple and innocent explanation. Here's the deal: When stabilized -whatever that comes to mean- BYC will mine no more than 1440 coins a day. Right now it is mining many, many more than that. In roughly one week, it has, in fact, mined roughly 75,000 coins... according to that block explorer. According to that explorer, the vast majority of the blocks mined produce 1 BYC. The ample majority... but not all. Again, according to that block explorer, quite a few blocks produce many more than 1 BYC. Some more than 100. Some more than ... 90,000!!! one even more than 190,000 !!!!. Like I stated, I am sure there's a perfectly simple and innocent explanation for this, but I just don't know of any. It would seem that all those tens of thosusands of coins are NOT registered or visible to the "outstanding" figure in the blockchain explorer... unless "outstanding" means something quite different from "total current float", for example, which is what it usually is supposed to mean. Are there, in fact, hundreds of thousand of BYC coins more available and mined -and mining- than those "outstanding"? Just take a look at blocks # 68885, 68900 and 69828, just to pick a few -there are many, many more with much smaller figures-, and draw your own conclusions... or ask the proper answers.

Something does smell rotten in Denmar... unless there's a perfectly simple and innocent explanation for this. It has to be, hasn't it?

Now, as stated above, there are -at least- 75,000 coins mined. Meaning, roughly 145,000 coins were bought at about 50k satoshis each and now there are 75,000 more that have cost... NOTHING. And counting. That thing is mining A LOT of coins -for some-, certainly many, many, many more than the 1440 a day max that were promised.  What does it mean? Well, obviously there's going to be a dump of gigantic proportions sooner rather than later. And that is if the numbers on those blocks mentioned -and many others- are some short of mistake ... If there's no mistake and the blockchain explorer simply don't recognize those coins as "outstanding", then the problem is exponentially bigger.

I'll be anxiously waiting for the explanation. After all, I was mining the coin... although in the last 12 hours, nothing...

1583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SFR] SaffronCoin | Decentralized Exchange to release soon! on: November 18, 2014, 03:12:10 AM
I just discovered that the full wallet downloads the blockchain that is quite bloated at 10GB... and will keep on bloating. This is a grave inconvenient. Any planned workaround or solution Roshan?

What ? are you sure ? how do I check this on my computer to confirm this ? my Appdata directory is not that big.

the message said 10gb of storage but I don't think we're any where close to that yet. like couple of people here posted it's still under 300mb. not sure if that's accurate tho. mine is about 300mb

As vwery clearly stated 25GB is the amount of FREE space available in the computer. The message also states clearly that it is about to download at least 10GB and that more will come (as the blockchain grows) after that.

My wallet is also about 300MB. Seems like default message which states how much space will be needed SFR wallet to operate for years.

Nope. It says that "at least 10GB will be installed (now) with more over time". Very clearly.

Breakout Coin Genesis Sale

Price:
1 bitcoin buys 3,000 BRO

Thats much less than the initial price.
How much has been collected in the IPo till now?

274,89 btc
as seen here : https://www.breakoutcoin.com/

This is an interesting one. BRO has a very professional team and the bios of the team indicates a very well organized, serious operation. The team is OK. The use case is wonderful, an investor dream: gambling, the venture can not be unprofitable. So the market is OK as well. Still, following weeks of promotion the IPO is at the relatively low 274 BTC.

That indicates me two things:

1) If a great project like BRO can get only 274 BTC (which probably includes some money from BRO as well, but that's OK, some small push is part of the game) then the money is dried out from the altcoin market

2) ICOs like the 3000 BTC BitBay money gatherings are pure scam, in which the ICO organizer buys large part of the coins and hype the project. In this depressed market, anything that more than what BRO gets simply can not be real.

I understand this thread is not here to talk about other operations nor wondering about what scammers do, but I thought it is important to give credit for the very few projects like BRO which seems a genuine operation and not a scam.

Ill agree there is a real operation(Not a scam) behind this with celebs and everything BUT , u have to agree they made a total mess of this ICO from changing just about everything in the middle of the ICO to this completly squewed selling structure they have now.
I still dont know what will happen to the coins left over, people are saying Second ICO to sell the rest without bergstake but they just dont know.
What does not come of looking professional to me at all.(Dont get me wrong ,I still believe there is a Pro team behind this operation just not "pro"in crypto and its community) and thats a big part of why their falling so short of their ICO goal IMO.
I think they should have spend an extra couple of K to rent a dev from DRK or VTC (or some other well established coin) to help them before they started.
I dont like repeating myself but where is the value add in the past month that makes 6500 to 3000 realistic ?

In the current struckture they have created , it actually motivates people that have bought in to not have anyone oneelse buy in.
Angel investors will make up the missing money  EA  the less bergstake is sold the bigger your piece will be.

Im just befuddled why they would do it like this.

If this contains factual errors (not spelling ones) please enlighten me.

The problem here, as usual in this type of thing, is trying to please everyone. Which is simply well-intentioned... but ultimately just dumb. No one in its sane mind, when dealing with any kind of business plan, would ever listen to people who still live in their parents garages at 30, that are high on bad stuff most of the time and that see in crypto some kind of anarchistic release of their many failures... The BRO team had a relatively good, thought-out plan: Sell the project and let the market price it. Only flaw in that plan, of high significance, was trying to sell simply an idea, lacking even the most minimal platform to show what they were capable of. That flaw remains and would haunt any selling initiative, of course, but keeping the original plan -which is inevitable, by the way- would at least have reassured customers -buyers- of what exactly they were buying.

As it stands, it would seem that Breakout Gaming will "buy with one hand and pay with the other" -meaning instamining the whole thing and getting over 90% of the coin for free-. And, obviously, people is not thrilled.

In 3 more days we will be quite [possible at the doom, rather than the dawn, of what potentially would have been the smartest crypto project to date. Instead, it could quite possible become a total mess.

Well yes it was pretty bad timing for this ICO and probably ICO on exchange like Bter would build better trust and make more investments.

I agree pleasing everyone isnt good strategy but BRO team didnt try to to that! There was majority of people agreed with decisions made, and it really doesnt matter if they were 16 years old or homeless, for that matter. Whats important is that in those circumstances there wasnt many options left and saying things like 1week ICO would make soo much more, is just assumption and nothing more. Every project is totally different in crypto space. You can hardly say anything in advance, but from the initial response/investments in BRO i think it was clear, there wont be a lot BTCs gathered, so i dont really believe any small change would make much bigger impact.

Anyway, judging project of this size and saying it will be a faliure because they havent gathered another 400BTCs is just funny. I mean there are people with quite a few bucks behind Breakout gaming, so i dont think 160,000.00USD means a  failure for them, considering multi million dollar business they are getting in.

The length of the ICo is irrelevant although making it a month long doesn't represent any visible advantage over 2 weeks or even one week. But yes, following pleas by 16 year-olds, or homeless, for that matter, MATTERS a great deal when you are trying to launch a business. It matters because following their pleas or advice is a recipe for disaster, on ANY business, for obvious reasons. And no, it isn't true that the devs of BRO don't need the money. Of course they do. A lot of it. Minimally, 700 BTC, ideally much, much more, like 10,000 or so which was the top of the expectations.

Consulting with the potential community, is wise; trying to please the ones that post more and have no record of any success -or common sense- is simply not wise. Hence, the failure.

1588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: THE BYTECENT DISASTER on: November 17, 2014, 07:13:02 PM
On with BYTECENT...

I have no further "beef" with this coin since the right thing was done by offering unsatisfied investors -and with good reason- a refund. That's doing things right.

Now, the "mess" seems to continue in the mining of the coin: It is supposed to mine 1BYC per block, as advertised. Well, it doesn't. There are MANY block that mine more than 1 BYC. Way more, in fact. Some a lot more than 1 BYC.

I have been looking sporadically since I just have a passing interest in the coin, but I have seen how "irregular" the mining is even now that it is supposed to be "stabilized". Have you check blocks #s 68138, 68154, 68179, 68196 and 68206, for instance. Well do. And you will discover that, quite frequently actually, some people are mining blocks that are way more profitable than the ones you are mining at 1BYC per block.

@ Flyingmoongoose

This is unrelated to your last post -therefore the reason I don't quote it-, but at what point will you assume responsibility for being just a baseless cheerleader cheering his way all the way down from the top?

At what point exactly you plan on telling people here, "ok, I have been wrong all along so please disregard my "positive" comments because, obviously, facts demonstrates clearly that they are not connected to reality in any way, shape or form"?

I mean, when someone is wrong for so long, at some point any decent individual would admit to... well, being wrong, right? And you are a decent individual, aren't you?

Seems since april this year I totally overlooked Saffroncoin. Until now. Your dev being nominated made me look into Saffroncoin.
For any altcoin a trustworthy and active dev is necessity number 1. Being innovative is necessity number 2.
Saffroncoin has both. Very interesting.

And SFR is DIRTY cheap right now. Wink

In my opinion the wallet alone is worth many times the current price. By I see several problems, chief among which is the one evidenced by "Digithusiast" -and which brought me here too-: No one knows of Saffron in altworld, no one. And ther name is one of the least-appealing names possible in crypto also, with the logo being a close follower. It appears that Roshan doesn't want to get the coin promoted because he doesn't want hype... well, not-hype in alts today means death of the coin, as simple as that. If investors hadn't heard of a coin, even if it is the best, it will simply die forgotten in a sea of scandal/scam-ridden It just won't work in the long run. , over populated scene with more and more scarcity of funds to invest. HYPE IS NEEDED. And, in this case, it won't be hype, it would be promotion of a great technical project, a very undervalued one.

I have already pointed out the other dangerous direction this coin project is going towards: Decentralization. Specifically a real decentralized market. It is a waste of time and resources... buit I won't repeat myself since I have recently addressed the subject here.

If I were Roshan, I would concentrate my efforts in letting people know a) that Saffron exists and b) that is one of the best altcoins and probably the most undervalued of all.

We already discussed the lack of marketing with Mohammed. He will be back in 1 or 2 days and something will be done about it.

Who is "We" and Mohammed will be "back" from where exactly? I thought he was full time dedicated to Saffron... maybe I was misinformed?

I meant that several people pointed the lack of marketing. Every time when price of some coin drops people are looking for reasons. Smiley It is clear that Roshan delivers everything that he first promised. At the moment he is not at his home I think and he will be back in 1 or 2 days. It's normal for people to travel from time to time.

Of course when a coin's price drops people, naturally, look for reasons. That's when the dev comes in and reassures them investors or otherwise defends the project. And yes it is normal for people to travel but in today's world travelling doesn't mean absence since we are connected 24/7 regardless where we travel. No one is implying Roshan doesn't deliver but a coin project should be an as dynamic and flexible one as possible for it to be successful. Unless totally failing, a very active BTCT thread is a clear  proof of interest and success, especially if the content is worthwhile rather than the usual confrontation/defense crap between skeptics and cheerleaders. Frequent presence of the main dev is a necessity.

Question: Will someone, at some point, acknowledge that the closing of the BTCT thread was a terrible mistake?

That the brand new, shiny, censored, cheerleaders only forums was, as all of Scott's ideas, a terrible one?

Perhaps more significantly, that having a "radio station" for a totally failed project is the contrary of an "asset"... unless if marketed as the most efficient remedy for insomnia?

Just a couple of random thoughts, for I know the answers already...

Mr Kelly doesn't answer his pages... hum... the coin's worth is less than what he makes in 6 months, way less, and he is about to introduce "a well respected name in crypto" as developer while he will be in touch with the Vericoin team, aka the stooges, for the dynamic POS that, apparently, has more than significant flaws and all kinds of vulnerable code (as per rat4).

What will happen to Brian Kell's reputation if Naut fails completely? Not much, really. It will be filed as "another learning experience" and on to the next one. Worth "saving" at this stage? Definitely. Is that possible? Most definitely. But the inability of Brian Kelly to achieve this is mind-boggling, really.

From here on down I'm buying.

Two pants-worth at a time...

It will have a couple of rebounds, 35-40% kind I believe, from mid low 3s...

The problem is, at least I think the problem is, we don't know who is dumping so hard. It could be one of the VRC boys like Scott or it could be Alex Green from Moolah. Since Pnosker saved his ass - instead of put 24 hours hard work and no more than 200-300 lines of update into software, modify the protocol and handle that scenario by excluding that stolen wallet and all its related transaction from the network -, Alex Green has lots of coins, who knows how many and how long he will dump.

The way I see it, the rats are jumping ship and "the new vericoin" will emerge after the bloodbath. Maybe with one or two less "developers" and one real one remaining. Maybe James will take over for good by simply buying the entire float left and keeping the stooges as a front. Either way, I don't believe we are too far from the real bottom -maybe the 2s, low 2s at the most-. And then it will be slowly up to the races from there, with a totally different approach... if without James.

One of the most recent rats to jump ship, obviously, seems to be the ineffable "yo soy boricua pa que tu lo sepas".

On the BTC front I expect it to go back to 350 and maybe even to low 3s before another attack on the 400s... that one -contrary to this one- to succeed...

Every single community member will want you to come out clean, legal name, credential and address.

A non moderated thread where everyone can freely express himself before you start deleting the posts that you don't want to be read.

Very simple.

So far, you are hitting the all the wrong notes on both songs... And I still believe you are Carlitos and Loljosh...

We are happy to do proof of developer going forward that is a good suggestion but so it seems that their is no Pesa Holder coming in support of this project so why bother.

We are also willing to work on probation to achieve milestone 2 and 3 after which the future of this project will be clear.

If the majority of Pesa community do not want us to continue work we will STOP.

But we will not be discouraged by AntiClimax threats, FUD and lies to dump and buy cheap coins.

Yes we will delete FUD to protect our Investors interests.

That is, if you pardon my English, just pure raw, smoking bullshit. No, no POD or any shit like that: Come fucking clean, say who you are so everyone knows, lets see your crednetials and where you live. If you are not Carlitos or Loljosh, you shouldn't have any problem with this since you NEED the community behinmd to attempt any resurrection of this coin. You will have it, if merited, immediately.

But where you absolutely top the BS is when you pretend that deleting posts is not only OK but is for "protecting our Investors interests". First of all, you don't have ANY investors and no other interests than to skim this community of their money. If I am wrong, simply prove it. Your "investors interests" will be much more protected if you GAIN people like anti-climax, Jake the Panda and me, without which, frankly, you have nothing and no chance whatsoever of resurrecting this project.

So step 1.- You introduce yourself and your team. NAMES, LEGAL NAMES AND CREDENTIALS.
Step 2.- You make this thread -or start a new one- UNMODERATED.
Step 3.- If merited, you ask for the support of the community. In general and in specifics. All of us will be on the same page then and pushing for this project to go as high as possible.

Without that, I repeat, you are wasting everyone's time for all of us would assume you are trying to scam us and this won't go anywhere. Pretty simple.

I have asked the same freaking questioon already several times: Who ARE YOU? And by that I mean legal name and address so we can know what if anything you bring to the table. Then we will or we wont support you. On merits, not on paper after failing to skim money directly from the community.

Second and equally important: Make this thread an UNCENSORED ONE, forget about self-moderated. That will be a good place to start. Otherwise, I subscribe every single word anti-climax wrote and you wil NOT get this off the ground. Either you play fair, totally fair, or get out of Dodge immediately.
