Thread already here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=427227.msg4665655#msg4665655

Was in the Bitcoin section but seems it got moved. Maybe it's best putting it in the Press section: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=77.0

Oh no, not a Ponzi scheme, please...  Roll Eyes

My opinion is that he is just sad he didn't think of it first or invest early in it.

I didn't read his papers, but I think this is often a probable cause.

It's usually either this as they're sore about how much they could’ve made, or just sheer ignorance or fear by the media propaganda of it being a currency for the anarchists and nefarious. And obviously a lot of people don't know what a Ponzi is.
16523  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: is it too late to get involved on: January 22, 2014, 03:32:14 PM
BTC is not an investment. It is a currency. It's only an investment if you are going to convert it back to USD currency as the USD weakens. Rarely will you hear someone say 'I'm going to invest in Euros etc...'. They'll usually say 'I'm going to hedge against X with Euros'.

How do you work that out? It's a currency that people are using as an investment. You can invest in other currencies too.
16524  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Oxford UK Meet Up on: January 22, 2014, 03:29:27 PM
I will see if I can make it, Is this the pub that takes FTC?

Yes, it's the pub that takes Feathercoin Smiley

I'm actually on the Feathercoin team as so to speak but wanting to have a meet that is more for all crypto enthusiasts Smiley

What, a pub that takes Feathercoin? Does it take bitcoin as well? I don't have any feathercoin Smiley

Buy some. FTC will probably turn out to be a nice little investment given its current price.

I might try to make it down to a London meet, but wouldn't go down there especially for one, but when I do go down to LDN I like to plan my trip around these kind of things.
16525  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: 1BTC for sale San Diego CA on: January 22, 2014, 03:26:14 PM
hello,

i have 1BTC for sale , willing to sell at $800 paypal ready. we can meet up wherever you'd like and we can make the exchange in person. just message me.

Just a warning but this offer is ripe to be scammed. There's nothing to stop a scammer meeting up with you, sealing the deal, then charging back with PP as soon as you've parted ways.
16526  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The most respected technologists against bitcoin on: January 22, 2014, 03:23:51 PM
Now that most tech people understand the underlying technology invention of BTC and it feels/seems like they all embrace it , I just wonder who are the most respected / knowledgeable technologist AGAINST BTC and  their arguments ?! Any links interviews of guys you respect but don't believe in btc, again in tech because economists don't really get it from first place ?!

Hmm a 'respected technologist' seems to be at odds with somebody who would denounce Bitcoin.

when the guy from dell came to fix my neighbors computer he said bitcoins were only for drug money and terrorists.  My neighbor came over to my house to warn me. Not like i have any respect from a dell it guy, but thats the only tech person i could think of.

Haha. I hate this ignorant shit. Cash is a far worse culprit for this anyway. People just don't know what they're talking about.
16527  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best paper for a paper wallet on: January 22, 2014, 03:20:59 PM
I am looking for something better then just good old paper to print paper wallet. But I cant seem to find anything. The closest I can find is water proof paper for maps.(don't know how thick it is) I like to keep a paper wallet with .01 btc in my wallet to help explain bitcoin  when asked. I am wondering if their is paper out their that is more like current currency than binder paper.

Books printed on "good old paper" can last hundreds of years. Don't see the need for "special paper". We have a similar thread about types of ink. Same thing again. Any normal ink is fine. Books that monks wrote 1500 years ago are still perfectly legible. I don't think hi-tech solutions are needed for paper/ink when doing paper wallets. Maybe don't use invisible ink though Smiley

Do they? Most books I have start to yellow pretty quickly even after a few years. And those old books are usually written on papyrus or hemp paper or some other form.

I have books from primary school from 30+ years ago, and they are fine. Cheap shit paper and cheap shit ink. What are you doing to make yours turn yellow after a few years? I think that is fungus Wink

Maybe glossy paper ones will last, but not standard paperback books etc. And why are you keeping on to outdated textbooks from 30 years ago? Do they tell you that earth is flat in them?  Grin

That is nice but no reason to bring this scam thread up again and again!
few persons already send message to mode for lock this thread but they not done so many coming here and giving him life

Yeah, mods tend to not bother with stuff like that.
but they must do this because now its just waste of time and nothing more

Post in scam accusations mods won't get involved with this.

It's redundant posting it in there too, as this has already been proven to be a scam. Plus, no money was scammed, just peoples time and effort.

time is money Wink

Then they wouldn't've wasted it had they had any intelligence or read the comments of concern and scepticism. There's plenty of other deals to be using, but they got greedy and paid the price.

Interesting......

Now people just need to find a rig that can mine £9k of BTC a year to pay the fee without having to get a student loan.

Where does it say how much they are? 9k is ridiculous for any course, and I wouldn't like to pay it in BTC as who knows how much that'll be worth by the time you finish it

9k is now the general price to do a course in the UK now.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-14111421

Old post, but i know most Unis now charge 9k for courses.

They shouldn't charge a penny. 9k a year is bullshit. I wonder how much it actually costs to do something worthwhile like become a surgeon? Can't imagine it costing the same as a degree in Business Studies or these Bitcoin-accepted 'Sustainable Leadership', and  'Sustainable Exchange' whatever the fuck they are.

Yup, the main threads are now filled with newbie junk and spam URL shorteners, along with banal questions. It looks like middle schoolers from uscamistan invaded.

Ha, not heard of that before. Would make a great band name.

Are the mods sleeping today? Reported this begging thread a few hours ago: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=427097.0 Edit: I see it's been moved.

Are these kind of begging threads allowed in off-topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=426549.0 ?

If you like horror movies i highly recommend THE CONJURING. The story is really cool and i guarantee you that you will shit your pants watching it Cheesy

Definitely a good throwback to the 70's classics! Haven't seen a better new horror movie in 2013 I think.

People go on about Ti West's films The House of the Devil and The Innkeepers being reminiscent of the great 70s/80s horror films, but I haven't seen either. He's got a new film The Sacrament out soon.

Wait 90 seconds between searches, have I been transported back to 1997?

or more annoyingly, "the last post from your IP was less than 360 seconds ago ..."  Angry

What do you want to be fixed? You have to wait 360 seconds before each post, but the time limits go down the more activity you get.

Reminiscing about all those ladboys, eh?  Grin

I'd like to spend a month in Thailand. It is ridiculously cheap over there.

I didn't have any "fun" with them (haha) but I definitely appreciated how they were accepted in every day life. Bartenders, waiters (waitresses?), etc. It's like a third gender... Kinda progressive!

Yeah, they practically are a third gender over there and do seem to be treated very well... well, that is until drunken westerners start abusing them  Roll Eyes.

I guess it depends where you hang out. After seeing older Western men with very, very young (and seemingly unhappy) Thai women, my friend and I just decided to stay elsewhere. The worse we saw was along the coast in Phuket, where we even saw what must've been an 18 year white kid with a 40 year old Thai "girlfriend".

Most western men go there because it's one of the only places they can go where pretty young women will pay attention to them, but it obviously comes at a price. You can live like a king over there on a pretty modest budget.
16537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best paper for a paper wallet on: January 22, 2014, 02:22:49 PM
I think the best thing I've seen is bitcoinpaperwallet.com. Looks great, works great.

Yeah, but he's asking for the best paper to use for the wallet.
16538  Economy / Services / Re: Can anybody buy me stuff from Godaddy? on: January 22, 2014, 02:13:37 PM
CAn you help me out, im looking to pay someone to post ads for me on CL,  they dont take bitcoins only paypal.

I have a suggestion, why dont you create a own paypal account, which is virtual, and just use it for craigslist?

Oh, Craigslist. I've never used it before, but isn't it free to post on there, or do you want somebody to post listings for you?

This guy that I found that only offers a posting service only takes paypal for his service.

Yes is free but need someone to do marketing for me

And you want to pay via BTC and not PP?

Since I watched Batman Returns the other day, I thought I'd give The Dark Knight Rises another spin.

And just like I initially thought when seeing it in theaters, The Dark Knight is a superior film in every aspect imaginable.

I thought Batman begins was pretty shit, The Dark Knight was fantastic, and TDKR was all right.

I'd switch Begins and Rises for myself... I thought Begins was pretty fun and a decent start to a new franchise. Rises just tried to up the ante from Dark Knight in every way and failed in most ways.

It just felt long and pointless.

Batman Begins just felt like another dumb action movie to me. There wasn't anything extraordinary about it at all, but I guess it set-up the story nicely for TDK.
