Made a successful deal with datguyian. Good trader.
2302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: January 03, 2014, 02:08:42 PM
It's pretty clear there is a coordinated effort going on to devalue QUARK.
Yeah, and that effort is from the Quark 'community' itself.
Can you explain it a litle further or is it just some rage?
Do some reading at the Quark forum and r/QuarkCoin.
It's pretty obvious this 'community' is eating itself.

Quark community has always been very "controversial", aggressive and emotional... also, since coin itself is new, there is still some undermining going on by supporters of other coins (this is currently not really that important and nothing to be afraid of).

At the moment, Quark community is pretty much split in half. I can see the arguments from both sides.

If you check almost any Quark thread, it will end up to be a flame-war between "Kolin supporters" and "Kolin haters".

I, for one, do not have anything against Kolin (he seems like a cool dude), but to be fair, I do not think that he should be considered to be "quark spokesperson" and really there is no reason to do it anyways (I have no clue why so many can consider one person to be a representative of an open source decentralized entity). Here's why:

Right off the bat: He has done so much for the Quark in the past and no-one can say otherwise. On the other side, some of the bad Quark publicity also falls on him.

Currently, only thing he does is posts about Quark and you all know how he writes (Cheesy, I have lost count of how many people he has labeled as "WoW players with no lives and girlfriends"). He is very proud person who can not take criticism. I was like that also, but experience as a systems analyst has only thought me one thing. Humbleness and straight facts win people over (quite easily). No matter how many times you have to repeat one thing, you will have to find strength to do it again for the next (or same) person who asks. Arguing with a mindset that "other person is probably correct, but I would like to show him my point of view" is the best and works all the time. I can rarely do this. Kolin can NOT do this. At least on forums, where most of the hatred is generated. Also, I don't think that he can accept, that Quark has many active promoters and he probably feels threatened by them, which in turn causes drama and confusion in every thread (you know, "pack leader" thing, although no election for "pack leader" was actually held).

Now, when Kolin opens his mouth and talks (in a youtube video, for example), it is entirely different matter. He seems like cool knowledgeable guy who really cares about this currency! No-one should even think about Kolin actively undermining Quark. How much time he has spent on Quark is mind-boggling...

This pretty much sums up, why Quark community is eating itself.

First rule of crypto is still "Strong community equals strong currency.".

I have no doubt that this problem will be solved soon (by solution I mean that Kolin should not be that defensive and half of the community should not be such critics) and Quark can finally be the "LiteCoin" (path-maker) of CPU coins. Oh golden glory days and quarks for all.

PS: Love you all. You guys make me hold my Quarks!  Kiss
+1

BTC and LTC had to go through this. It's part of 'Growing Up'. Nearly all the alts have this going on at one time or another. The ones that don't are either not big/good enough to inspire opinion either way, or they have grown out of it. (probably only BTC and LTC fit that)
2303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: January 03, 2014, 02:04:46 PM
It's pretty clear there is a coordinated effort going on to devalue QUARK. There was a guy yesterday who purposely put up a 450,000 QRK sell wall at 0.00013500 and then turned it into a bunch of 6550 QRK sell orders which spooked the sheep. Now the sheep are actually falling for this ploy to devalue QRK. Great job guys Smiley

The word on the street is these guys paid a lot of money for this off exchange , I heard up to 50c !

This if true; proves how much of a threat they feel .

They are hurtling right now , I can literally tell you im being inundated with requests to buy by people that just don't want to deal with Bitcoin , you have to remember some of our investors have never used crypto before .

I've had a request to buy 1 million , I politely declined that as dont even have that much and to sell it off exchange would be negligent.

But these buyers are legitimate they are not "spammers" our enemies know this and know this capital is on the sidelines.

They lost more each time, the trolling increases when they dump and they are nearly out of all that high priced Quark it must hurt so much , we could literally do this forever , until they run out

: (  poor guys . So much hurt and pain .

: D

Yes, this is what is happening.  I have more requests to buy now... Bigger investors have been frustrated, couldn't get quantity (500k+).  Exchanges are all small money, so, for little cost, the price can be manipulated down, then the BIG deal (rip-off) is done off-exchange. Happens in securities and commodities all the time !
2304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: January 02, 2014, 03:10:48 PM
QRK up!!!! Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Where and how much ? And please don't make me open cryptsy for a  < 0.2% price rise.

QRK is merely stable in price. Less than 10% range in several days

I am sure you don't mean to sound sarcastic ! There are plenty of serious people involved with QRK, but also lots of mixed motives with people who are looking for information.

The QRK community is still growing. That is a process which should be handled with courtesy and tact.

any Chinese friends in the house can anyone give me feedback on btc-8 ?

love they they just listed QRK against CNY  ! : D

BTC8 has a very small turnover,less than BTC38, but it's a start in China !
2308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CryptoCoin Explorer - Coin Block Explorers. 14 Coins + 7 CCE3 Test Explorers on: December 31, 2013, 01:51:08 PM
I apologize for the lack of contact when it comes to requests to add coins. I have to prioritize messages and e-mails or else I get nothing done.

I have made a few statements in the thread on this subject, but I guess it is time to repeat it again.

I am not adding more coins to CCE until CCE3 is in the production stage and CCE has been completely converted. I started the CCE3 project so that CCE could handle 100's of coins using the same amount of resources the ABE based explorers use now.

CCE3 is a project I have written alone and from the ground up. At this stage the Explorer is stable and I am working on the API. API development should be quicker as it is, for the most part, the same as the web server except with a JSON I/O vs. HTML.

I will be adding more coins to the test server as it comes time to hard stress test the system. I have a couple of coins lined up, but in most cases I have to pick based on activity in order to get a balanced view between lightly and heavily used coins.

CCE3 Thread:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=262539.0

I also have other projects I am working on that have deadlines to be met.

So please be patient, I am working over 80 hours a week on everything. I want to deliver products that are outstanding and not just half broken, buggy garbage.

Robert

Thanks for your valuable work.

CCE has the potential to become an important portal, in the same way as Coinmarketcap, and hopefully in a really high-quality way. Adding all possible CryptoCurrencies will be the way forward, and I fully understand your requirement to make sure that CCE3 is ready for that.
2309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 31, 2013, 01:40:44 PM
Is there any information available regarding how many nodes Quark has?
How many GPU's/Cpu's does Quark have defending it?
How can we make sense of Quarks Gh/s in relation to BTC, LTC, etc. considering that Quark has 6 algoriths? Does that matter much?

I'm trying to get a picture of it's network strength, regarding my post above. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=260031.msg4226452#msg4226452

Thx,
IAS

I was looking at this a week or two ago.

Most coins have a direct way of accessing the network hash through the daemons in the wallet software. Sites like Coinchoose use this function, as far as I am aware. Not all the daemons support the "getnetworkhashps" function, and for PoS coins there are extra complications.

Quark does not have this command in the daemon, and Vircurex is the only site which shows a Hash Rate for the QRK network. This must use the alternative method, which is simply to monitor the block explorer and the difficulty, estimating a Hashrate by seeing the rate of block discovery. This of course is dependent on the assumptions made in the estimate: You will see that the Networkhashrates for each coin on Vircurex vary quite suddenly, and that is a function of several things, mainly the random probability of block discovery.

So, how reliable the QRK rate is, I cannot say, but I think we may assume ,quite conservatively, that it is of the order of magnitude of Litecoin, possibly somewhat more.

If anyone else can shed further light on this, I would be very interested to hear from them !
2310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 30, 2013, 11:08:22 AM
I have 0 QRK now. Sold the entire stash at Dec. 14

Wish all the best to everyone, good luck

Sorry to hear that, I guess you sold BTC when it hit $30 as well.

I had QRK since 23rd November. The lucky return I got (>30000%) is far beyond anything that could come in the future (in my eyes).

On top of that I could now buy double the amount of QRK of the Dec.14 sale with the BTC gained -- if I wanted to.

Anyhow as I said, good luck, have fun! I don't hate on Quark and its holders. I am personally out due to different factors.

No offense, be well! hope QRK as well Smiley

Good for you !  That was a wise trade for it's time.

Even reinvesting one quarter of the proceeds now would buy you a decent stake again.
2311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Black Watch // NOIRBITS RE-VAMP THREAD!!!!!! (OP MANAGED) on: December 28, 2013, 12:17:35 PM
Miners will mine if there is current profit as well as future profit. The price of the coin is one of the main variables determining profitability. That has many ways of rising.

Also, there are a lot of miners looking at medium term considerations... Why did BTC get mined for a year or two when there was no market price at all ?   Not all are short-sighted and greedy for instant money.

another 7k skc available. open offer or pm.

sold 7k skc at 0.20 btc, to majormax.

Thanks, good quick trade.

2314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Black Watch // NOIRBITS RE-VAMP THREAD!!!!!! (OP MANAGED) on: December 26, 2013, 01:53:34 PM
we'd have to discuss that.

For joining with others.

Here is what i see, I've had four guys ask me to take over their coins, 2 of them are like NRB in that they have their good days.
Users are tired of switching form one coin to the other trying to mine the most profitable. So if we pick out 9 abandoned scrypt coins that are traded and create a block that import all their balance up to a certain block number, allocate a given % of overall supply to each coin....we would have united 10 TRADED coins into one. meaning users need only mine one coin.

This will be optional and attempting to game it by transferring coins after the genesis is built will be pointless. Users can choose to join or continue mining seperately, but once you join, it's a commitment.

The benefits are if a lot of users join, we can have a pretty powerful userbase. By using current exchange rates of the coin we can ensure fair import into the new chain, as a result we can essentially raise the number of coins to become ALL scrypt coins.

A coin of coins.

Introduction of a different algo

Using a new algo means we could possibly make this coin a cpu only coin, which would save us from the advent of the Scrypt ASIC. while others say those are a good thing , i beg to differ, only the guys who got them first with BTC every really made ROI, if it wasnt for the chimese pump, most would have just bought losses.

By ensuring CPU only or CPU and GPU, it stays within range of the average miner. Others complain about botnets and GPU farms, but would you compare their hits versus a ASIC farm?

This is an interesting idea. Some notes and questions:

1.  What are the technical/progaming challenges in merging several coins ? Presumably they all need to be hashing from same scrypt ?

2.  Do you have sufficient information on the developers with whom you intend to collaborate ?

3.  Would there be an apportionment/entitlement problem with allocation of stakes from old blockchains ?

4.  I assume NRB would act as the senior chain (ie the benchmark coin for number and value), and the others would merge in, if that is the intention ?

Please put me right if I am making any incorrect assumption !

Read the white paper. Just digesting it and thinking about the possibilities. Would this project as a by-product, then, offer a new way of massively compressing data, in a way that has not been thought of before?

Yeah, the plan is to get the right people together to seriously research it.

Sounds good. Let the projects develop steadily, and marketing comes when there is something to market.

I still look in at CGB every day, and I am sure there are many like me.

What level of understanding do you have regarding any of the top 10 coins having the market cap they do?

Present the research that you have conducted for us to appraise so that we may share this insight.  What justifies LTC , PPC, MEC , WDC their market cap?  i am genuinely interested in this.

LTC and PPC had a time advantage and were innovative at the time in that they offered significant differences from BTC.  MEC and WDC I can't really explain.  Most other coins are just alternate takes on LTC/PPC/BTC with premines.  Which is what I'm trying to figure out here.  WHY are the other ones up there?  You're basically asking the same question that I am.

It's a question of fundamentals really, what make a coin a winning coin is their very essential. Here's my own analysis:

1. BTC — Total innovation. First mover advantage. Deflationary. No secrets here.
2. LTC — Faster processing times and faster confirmations than Bitcoin. It will work when BTC transactions are too slow. Deflationary.
3. PPC — New algorithm that removed the 51% attack flaw that risks the entire BTC and LTC economy. Deflationary.
4. NMC — Proposes of a new decentralised DNS System. Potential of recreating the entire internet. Deflationary.
5. QRK — Security innovation: 9 hashing algorithms, 3 random. Blazing fast confirmations. Inflationary, 0.5% per year.

It's worth to mention that the inflationary character of QRK makes this a very unique coin in comparison to all above. QRK have not only solved the problem of previous coins but also innovated from the economics point-of-view, as it will allows it to be more naturally adopted as currency, while others coins work more like securities.

In my own opinion, QRK has positioned itself with a set of variables that makes the best crypt currency ever, even better than Bitcoin. The community working behind the coin is huge and when all of the work starts to flourish... Well, don't trust me, do your own investigation and maybe you'll reach the same conclusion.

All the above coins have strong community support, and either you believe it or not, that is the proof of the pudding. Think from the perspective of human labour alone, the amount of man hours that have been put into all of this coins is more than enough to justify their values. Now, with that said, what about other coins?

That's simple, those coins are going to thrive as long as they have a community working around it. When the people is gone, their value goes to zero.

Generally agree here. There are other factors and innovations of which most people would be unaware unless they had researched all the 200 or so alts.  I researched every alt that was generated between March and October this year. I thought QRK had one of the best chances, and so far, its on track. Nobody can predict the outcomes, it's like Stock Tips, but worse.

The bottom line is:  There is/will be a coin out there that will BETTER Bitcoin.  Whether Quark will be it , only time will tell.  If a VC investor buys Quark now, their downside is 25c. Their upside ?  Guess.
2320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 14, 2013, 03:33:37 PM
I heard that BTC38 servers would not be able to manage Quark's volume, so they decided to wait and upgrade the servers and add 2 lesser coins instead for now... Cheesy

BTC38 is a very small exchange.  They cannot handle Quark. The volume on Cryptsy of QRK alone is 10 times the whole volume on BTC38 atm.

Interesting to see them try though.

QRK needs a breather after such a crazy 20  days. With any luck the price will settle lower before the next leg of developments.
