Can anyone explain how to mint fresh coins with PoS?
do we need to put something special on communitycoin.conf file, like gen=1 or something?
Or the only thing needed is just to have open comm wallet with aged coins....

Thx in advance.

Just have wallet open, coins not moved for at least 1 day, and give it time: the minting is based on probability, cone age, and your processor power.

I will write an FAQ on minting stake sometime in the next week or so.. but first awaiting the draft of new website.. imminent.

Great News, Everyone! mymenace came through with a new header image for the subreddit, and it looks great!

http://www.reddit.com/r/communitycoin/

Have a look at the design. Comments, suggestions are all welcome - I've already acted on two of them, and mymenace has come through for a third!

One more call after this one and I'm letting the matter rest if there's nothing more to do.

Looks very good. Nothing to add or remove so far!  Wink

My donation will go to your address as soon as my next PoS cycle will be finished.

Thanks a lot!
5000 COMM on your way mate. Thanks for your hard work! Smiley

Just got it - thanks so much!

Thanks for the hard work. Alternative threads are useful, as this one is getting very long already !

Ignore the troll. It is weird how almost every new coin gets their own troll nowadays. Or multiple. You'd think moderators should really start suspending some of them. Anyway, whatever qualms he has about the dev, distribution, or whatever he whines about, only became an issue to him after he admitted he sold his Comm. So it's not a moral issue, nor does he has altruistic motives, trying to protect people ... as otherwise he would have brought it up earlier. He either is the sour grapes sort or is a troll with no life, or both.

Yes.. both I guess. Look at his posting history from profile.

The posts are rather like random words which have little meaning.

I take it that there is no way to suspend/ban trolls if people report them to a moderator? I mean, bringing up concerns is one thing. But trolls go way beyond that. The giant letters are sort of a tip-off. I know moderators are anti-spam and have shut down threads due to people spamming forums with short giveaway posts. Why don't they ban trolls, which produce way more spam?

You can report posts, yes, but I don't know what criteria are used to ban them.

Ironically, we only see this because the dev chose not to moderate the thread, preferring the maximum openness of speech.

Tomorrow on Cryptsy will be interesting. The bigger buyers will not appear until the COMM projects start to roll out. Early days.

There is a list of COMM which was distributed  in the fist 2 phases here:

http://communitycoin.info/UPLOAD-list-ASC.html

Surprising how much effort went into spreading that around.
1786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CommunityCoin (COMM) Fair & FREE Distribution | Pure PoS | BTER - MINTPAL on: April 25, 2014, 03:28:33 AM
we are listed on cryptsy, enjoy the ride, COMM is the best coin for invest now

Cryptsy will make the volume step up again.

In the first few days on Mintpal the COMM volume was 400BTC.  There is not much in the way of big offers, so that sort of volume shows a lot of people are trading.

1787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CommunityCoin (COMM) Fair & FREE Distribution | Pure PoS | BTER - MINTPAL on: April 24, 2014, 11:57:46 PM

The distribution is not over yet.
Regarding people with bad behavior, I tend to agree. Why would you give anything to anyone badmouthing you or what you create ?

Does that mean we should not pay out anything for the website ? I don't see the relevance. Certainly that sort of post is pretty hostile to the whole community.
I said people who had bad behavior. I don't understand why you are speaking about website.
Sorry but Dev is as human as you are. If someone is repeatedly insulting him, his work, criticizing his motives,
why in the hell would he give anything ?

There nothing hostile in that.

No, misunderstanding sorry ! I meant the other post, that you replied to, was hostile (I deleted it from the quote because it was shouting in blue). That post was replying to the website pledge thread.

I am agreeing with you.
1788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CommunityCoin (COMM) Fair & FREE Distribution | Pure PoS | BTER - MINTPAL on: April 24, 2014, 11:51:22 PM

To offer something that will really get this coin off on the short term, I have an idea I am willing to support with a first pledge of 50K, however things work out.
We need some rigged gamble. Clou is, it is rigged for the player.
In fact, it is a further development of the concept of faucets.
Offer a game that pays more money out, than you put in. Get payed for gaming.

Huh you cannot pay more than what you earn...  for obvious reason.
(you wouldn't last long in casino business...)

It is intended as a an replacement for faucets. A more effective marketing and giveaway mechanism.
Offering blackjack with a cap on bettings and a slight rnd shift in favor of the player will sustain itself quiet some time. How long depends on how big the rnd shift is.
Combine this with a way to limit frequency of play and you have something very very effective

This will take some development time though and pledges are needed for the person that takes up the work.

I will start with a 100K Explaining further at the official forum:
http://communitycointalk.com/index.php

Interesting proposal...

The comparison with Blackcoin is interesting. Similar method of distribution, similar size of thread and community at this stage.

BC is 7 weeks further down the road, and currently valued (Total market cap) at around 20 times COMM. (and has been as high as 50 x )

He said coin cap not market cap (though he may have meant market cap lol.) The coin cap as I understand is 120 million coins. I do not know whether Tranz built in "inflation" or not; maybe this is what CrazyLoaf was really asking about...?

Yeah, I was talking about the coin cap vs the market cap. I know the coin cap is in the code as 120M, but how realistic is it that we get there? At this point, let's say we got there in 5-10 years. Anyone holding now would be diluted into oblivion unless they are a large-ish holder.

Ok,  sorry about the misunderstanding !

That is an interesting point I hadn't considered.

Yes, thanks for the note. I just synched wallet, and balance is 87000 . Interesting, is this all intended for the graphic designer, or should the page and content writer get something ?
1793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CommunityCoin (COMM) Fair & FREE Distribution | Pure PoS | BTER - MINTPAL on: April 24, 2014, 11:00:55 PM
I spent some time lurking on the two Information Coin threads. What a contrast to this thread!

First of all, the distribution of Information Coin was orderly. Because it was orderly, and because there were no mishaps, people accepted it as "fair." There was hardly a trace of FUD.

But here's the interesting part. Compared to this thread the live ITC thread is all-but dead! Most of the posts are applications. Not much action, and almost all of it is centered around ITC's performance on Poloniex. Hardly anyone is doing anything: the two people doing the most are old friends of ours from here. Smiley The Thunderclap signup was slow until this afternoon. ITC's subreddit still has the default theme, and has less than 20 subscribers; ours has 109. The ITC distro is over, but all they have services-wise is a single faucet. The only donation drive is for a multipool. Other than the Thunderclap, Adriano's Twitter-promotion campaign and pabloangello's IRC-centered promotion, there's only one poster trying to drive promotion. No voting drive for Mintpal, no voting drive for anything.

Really, it's day and night. Already, one person there complained about almost all the stakeholders sitting on their bums and waiting for something to happen.

The moral? Community Coin's distribution was chaotic and marked with mistakes, but COMM generated a ton of enthusiasm while ITC has generated close to none. The only movers and shakers I saw, other than the founding dev and a team member, were some of the same movers and shakers here. Grin

Moreover, COMM's languishing on Poloniex while ITC had the benefit of a nice huge pump (which mostly fell apart.) Strange are the contrasts...

That's why this is Community Coin. The true treasure are people around it and in it. I still believe that someday it will be the main point, which is mentioned about COMM. I can't understand those, who sell now. Lack of patience, wanting to get into other quick buck coins as, for example, CINN... Many aspects, but I am standing against, even if very anxious about such a price drop, I haven't sold a single COMM. This coin is Community driven coin and as such will be.
ITC thread is cold, I got one share, but there is uncomfortable, I want to involve all my spare time into COMM coin. Actually I did not much in comparison to others, only posts and pledges lists are my job, I contribute as much as I can.

+1

 all you guys:
i still hold COMM, a lot,i want the price pump and pump. i love this coin,no doubt, but where devs ,what are they doing? show to community, plz!!!!!

Dev is actually doing some important work, rather than verbally jousting. He did post today.
1795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CommunityCoin (COMM) Fair & FREE Distribution | Pure PoS | BTER - MINTPAL on: April 24, 2014, 04:34:08 PM
naming people make no sense, I don't think that will help and it is kind of childish (or worst... but I don't want to win a goldwin point... ). As it is said everywhere, just don't feed the troll.

Why does it make no sense?

And as for the feeding of trolls... they will be fed. For a while at least. By someone. Not much you can do about it. I did so myself. Foolish me. But they just keep coming.
Let them come, it doesn't really matter (I feed trolls myself as a hobby...  Grin what will I do, if they don't come anymore  Cry )

The best action is no action, as they will get tired of it. It is like children being impossible just to show they exist.
and the influence on the market is not obvious either (also I don't think it is important for the moment)

I think it has more to do with Cinni than this as I noticed other coins with big volumes are going down drastically as well such as bc and ac. Or do they also have trolls  Cheesy

BC has been crying foul about trolls too. Their thread kinda mirrors this one.

Yes, I just looked.. very interesting. You are right, even the number of pages of posts is very similar at this stage. Lots of FUD and complaints of unfairness.

Maybe COMM is following Blackcoin.  The difference is COMM has a larger minted stake: more incentive for holders in the first few years.

ECC seem dying

No, the network is very strong.  I just synched my wallet, and got 12 stakes in just 4 minutes.

Yes... Can anyone compile a publicly available Rich list, like in some other coins, so we can see what are the bigger stakes ? It's not perfect, but it gives a guide.

agreed, dev and his team (of coz you) should consider to set a bounty for this.
[/quote]

I will suggest that. .. Of course, if anyone is interested enough I think they could do it right now. I have seen it done very quickly and easily with other coins, but don't profess to understand the coding.
1798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CommunityCoin (COMM) Fair & FREE Distribution | Pure PoS | BTER - MINTPAL on: April 24, 2014, 02:53:06 PM

I've not accused the dev of any scamming nore have I do anything in this thread repeatedly, just heard peoples complaints who didn't receive what they deserve and agree with them.

I actually see its the greedy ones labeling these guys with legit concerns as trolls, they want to hide any negativity because they want it to increase in price and make fiat out of it.

Fairs fair, the devs been, show what you've done for comm, fill out this form, no don't fill out this form, no pm your request the na forget that distributions done  Huh.

Put yourselves in the shoes of the people who did what they could and yet no matter what hoops the dev put them through they didn't get the stake they feel they should have, I know I'd be a tad upset......so I am standing up for them....cause the greedy ones are so blinded by the potential fiat they won't  Angry

You hit the point.  They got two stakes and expected the price only to increase and can't allow any different voice.

Wher do you see the price being in a couple weeks time ?
1799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CommunityCoin (COMM) Fair & FREE Distribution | Pure PoS | BTER - MINTPAL on: April 24, 2014, 02:51:26 PM

Oh, wait!  look at here. The dev said sth.
It seems even he don't know how many coins are left.  LMAO

He may not. I certainly don't. Intereting mystery , no ?  (actually, you will understand, in a few weeks time, it did't really matter, just the infrastructure matters)

This is a good time to begin consolidating the infrastructure. There will be a few weeks of lower prices while the FUD and Trolls burn themselves out on the forum, and the sour grapes people depart with their (Geoffrey Howe) resignation speeches.

The frustrated big buyers are waiting for their chance to pick up chunks at bargain basement levels. If you hold COMM you better hope the peice drops enough to temp a really strong promoter to buy a chunk, because it it a bit too well distributed to give any powerful whales a decent stake.

Read this, LMAO  Grin

It won't play out like that, I have a bigger ace up my sleeve then that (in support of those rightfully frustrated) Wink

Interesting... What's yer plan there?

Kelsey should be able to help... I was running out of ideas to get to the bottom of this.
