Because the dev conveniently "lost" 200M coins. If he has an unpatched client he can do a transaction with it sending it to the node that mints the next block, also running an unpatched client. Then the coins are "clean" and can be dumped on exchanges. I just dumped COMM and bought MYR, a coin with no downsides and a technical innovation people are already copying. Don't be stupid... minted coins are generated spending a transaction... nodes will block ANY (I said ANY, DID YOU UNDERSTAND?) transaction coming from that address. NOT A SINGLE TRANSACTION WILL BE ACCEPTED BY THE NETWORK COMING FROM THAT ADDRESS. NOT EVEN MINT COINS.Next time I will start posting in red with bigger fontsize. Yes i am aware there is about 10 cryptos using X11 we will make sure including them in the pool. I also believe all cryptos should use x11 or other asic resistant and gpu firendly algos. This is less harm to eco system and fit our goals. As you notice ecc multi pool designed to mine every algo, there is select box for this option, you'll see there more algo in the close future. It looks to me early miners again will benefit most. But we need to educate miners, they should mine as a investment, mine today sell tomorrow does not help much to ECC. So i'll place necessary warnings in the pool for the miners. Our pool is scientific one on math calculations and we are ready to confront trolls and fuds will follow after that. I know many pool is not transparent enough, your revenues depends on the pool owners choice at background. There are many tricks one can do on the pool to cheat miners. Our pool transparency will allow and hopefully finish the worries on this area first time. I have seen such tricks used at otherpools. Our math is perfectly perfect tested very much and enough. also we are offering live stats like cgminer does. Bytheway we will update soon the wallet. This is not big update, not mandatory one, i collected enough data from the community. So our new concept is "green future" :-) 'Green Future' is good. We don't need to over emphasize ecology in the write-ups, but this slogan, colour, tree projects and 'Energy Conservation' tag will show that sufficiently. |

'Inflation' really has nothing to do with the price level. It is the level of demand, and the willingness to sell at a given price that discovers the value level. There can be any number of coins within reason (not like CENT for instance), and the price can rise on demand alone. Higher PoS rates are a better encouragement for holders. The rate is tapered down by design, so it is not comparable to a currency inflation. |

Only the weak hands are following and selling. My hands are shaking right now, I've invested all my college money in this... You will sell out at the lows. Still a long way to go yet, but only after the weak hands have sold can the price really start to rise. |

Of course. Just tell me. Why? X11 is a POW algo. Why should it be implemented in a POS system? Pure POS has a set of serious flaws that need adressing. Migrating to X11 is utterly meaningless. +1 x11 is not useable with PoS. Anyone suggesting Hardfork may not fully understand the issues here. |

This looks great to me! Something new and also a fix for the 200M. I want to add that I am not worried about those 200M but it seems that there still are a lot of people who are. I have seen that this problem is still mentioned in other threads when people are talking about COMM. IMO it would be a big mistake to have a hard fork, especially over these two issues. The 200m is a non-issue, I have advised before that it does not affect the long term viability at all. The cold store minting is unproven, and will call into question the security of the coin. All Cryptocurrency has the single Private Key at the heart of it's security. I have found that the concept of trust is one of the biggest issues for the general public. Add to that the fact that experienced users of coldstore only do that because they are very concerned with security. I predict that they will be reluctant to use coldstore minting. Just my 2c. |

why exactly do you want to fork already the coin ? (might have missed an episode...) Quite frankly the less change the better, nobody likes when the rules change mid-game... I think now we should think heavy about hard fork to forget about lost 200mlj. This will raise confidence and the price will slightly climb up.
And after that or meanwhile, we have to brainstorm new ideas.
Strongly agree! Disagree. That can be done later, when there are additional good reasons for a fork. A hard fork needs exceptional reasons, because it can easily cause other problems, and is risky. Getting on with real projects is going to add real value. It is better for the 200m to overhang the price, keeping it low. Whether it ever comes on the market or not does not affect the long term value. The people who sit back and speculate on price, going from one coin to the next will look after themselves. COMMunity should look after the real infrastructure and development. |

Everything is going to be all right. The good is, we should not focus on price but real projects. We can do any moment miraculous wallet update and things can change in a day. But we have to go one by one. So this weekend we start the most advanced multi pool in alt coin history. Then we will be one of first crypto project planting real trees to the planet. And i check after that what can we update with wallet. Or we can code shopping api. And so on. We have many exchanges to appear and shops waiting for us.
Also community should speak to me what you want from me, dev team? I think dev team plans are very transparent.
Use this time of low prices to develop real features and projects. I have some ideas for the wallet. |

I don't know if anyone remembers, but the dev actually has more than 200 million coins hidden. There are actually 1 billion coins, not 800 million as advertised on the op.
Maybe you missed some of the history, please read about last changes on the wallet software. tldr: a wallet with ~200 million coins was lost by dev on a hard drive failure. That address was blocked on the software so those coins won't move (nodes won't accept them). Money Supply is yet ~1billion because those coins still exist (although they won't be allowed to be used on transactions). Adriano So in a future wallet upgrade the coins can be unlocked again? That is possible, I guess. There may also be a different solution found. This presents a novel situation. Fear of the lost wallet will keep the price depressed, so there will not be the usual speculation. |

Just wanted to clarify: What is the Min/Max coin age for staking ? The OP states 5-15 days 'typically' , does that mean random ?
I do understand the staking probability vs coin weight variable, but it there a fixed minimum age ?
