I wouldn't. Roll Eyes

Hippie Tech : 1 win, 53 losses Shocked

Well, a lottery is a 'slim odds-big payout' type game.

Would you prefer to see something with better odds and lower payout - say still with 6 numbers drawn . . .

i) choose 1 number from 42 with a 6x payout
ii) choose 2 numbers from 42 with a ~30x payout
iii) choose 3 numbers from 42 with a ~100x payout

Yes, of course that would be much better. Around 6x would be a good payout , although why not include an odds-on selection (like satoshi dice, maybe just a few different). That would encourage a few much bigger stakes to be placed, which would be good for the overall balance of currency distribution.

Say, forecast of lowest draw number / highest draw number,  eg. lowest <21,<30,  highest >20 , >12 etc.  Some players feel more comfortable getting a small payout on the majority of draws, and only losing occaisionally.

Hey Freetrade, great work.  But, is there anything else going on to promote LottoShares?  I fear it will fail like Chancecoin and other coins that don't do any other advertising. Will it trade on an exchange?

Exchanges will pick up only slowly, as volume will not be high initially. Advertising is inappropriate, as it attracts speculators IMO.

I like this project precisely because it is not suitable for quick profits (except only by playing the Lottery), being more about a novel concept, and having some fun with the structure of cryptocurrency blockchains.
1463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LTS] LottoShares - airdrop for BTC and DOGE holders on: July 21, 2014, 11:49:54 PM
I followed the instrcutions for my dogecoin wallet. But it never worked Sad. Anyone halp me plz? Me need lotimoniezzz Tongue HALLLPPP!!!!
1- please remove your address
2- tell us your problem, we have 2 active dev and some experienced users here who can help you to get your stake

The problem is, I never got my stake. I took my dogecoin wallet.dat and put it in Lottoshares. Annd, nothing. Balance is still 0. I followed the instructions to the t. I am unsure how to import my privatekey into the wallet for bitcoin wallet though. Soooo.

.dats are not compatible, I believe. You have to import the private keys.
1464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★ [ANN] ECCoin (ECC) ★★★ ECCoin - Green Future FORK FIXED UPGRADE NEEDED on: July 20, 2014, 07:34:37 AM

....thats a shame ....here we have a coin with great potential and nobody cares.
We need an active dev who take care and responsiblity to this coin....my windows wallet is now fine and staking.
Deposits and withdrawals to and from mintpal are working fine.
Why is there nobody outside to take over this pretty coin....hostmaster said before that he would support
a new dev or a team who cares....he also wanted to giva access to git-hub......

IS THERE ANYBODY OUTSIDE WHO CARES FOR ECC? THIS COIN DESERVES IT!

ANYBODY?

Huh
[/quote]

Yes, the are actually many, but with so many coins out there, most have multiple holdings and don't check threads often enough.

I have 65 different coins and it can take me several days to get around checking all the developments in each.

I thought this coin was dead? Is there still promise?

Not dead at all. Still trading, still mining, just very quiet, almost like hibernation. A bit of warmth will make it spring to life.

Do you think it is a good buy right now?

Its similar to a lottery ticket.

There is already a ticker LTS : Lotuscoin.

Can we think of another more distinctive tag before trading starts ?

How about LOTTOS

edit..

LOTTS  is better.

just  5 characters, and it reflects the abundance of the distribution !
1468  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LTS] LottoShares - airdrop for BTC and DOGE holders on: July 15, 2014, 09:03:39 AM
i still didn't get how to claim the share over the sharecoin wallet  Undecided
any tips/advise?

Just download and sync the LTS wallet, then import your Sharecoin private key. For security, move your Sharecoins to another address ( or wallet) after you copy the private key. The public address of your LTS is the same as the address of the Sharecoin you have and therefore the private key is the same also.
1469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LTS] LottoShares - airdrop for BTC and DOGE holders on: July 15, 2014, 12:54:48 AM
I don't want to take risk releasing my private key.
Could someone send me a few coins for testing? I will be very grateful. I will give them back with interest when in two month Wink

LXLL2Dpyumw2DYN6y4Cf6h9eNejiApU2cx

I don't understand the logic.  You are releasing your own private key to your own wallet, it just happens to be your own wallet of a different coin.  It doesn't seem risky to me at all.

Anyway, I imported all my private keys and now have a bunch of LottoShares. Thanks Freetrade.

Just the chance of the wallet software being compromised in some way. It is all very well to risk to loss of the new coin in that way, but I would think a lot of coins are going to go unclaimed (= unmoved = destroyed), unless confidence really picks up in the first year.
1470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LTS] LottoShares - airdrop for BTC and DOGE holders on: July 14, 2014, 11:53:23 PM
Please excuse my excess of prudence but what are "in general" (not talking about this specific coin) the risks of importing your bitcoin private key on an unknown wallet?

Could that be risky?

If the software you are randomly importing your private keys into is malicious the risk is a complete loss of all your coins.

Well, this one is going to be controversial, if nothing else. I am a holder of many of the qualifying coins, and I will certainly be introducing my Sharecoin private keys, as there is nothing more to lose on that one !

One thing I don't quite understand is how many blockchains will be needed. Obviously the BTC,DOGE,LTC,SHARE etc will have different algorithms and therefore a separate set of addresses relating to each.

Here's the ANN -

LottoShares has just launched and includes an airdrop to all addresses in the original distribution.

Hope you enjoy it!

This is an interesting and novel idea. You are certain to get comments from plenty of people who don't understand the concept.

Cool someone new to discuss things with. However first tell me one thing are you are qrk holder and interested in seeing qrk succeed. If not i guess there is no real point discussing with you since we will see things from a different perspective with different goals.

1. crowd funding... okay let's go with that. Explain how this will work? Crowd funding for future qrk development? for the companion coin? explain the full process... i mean yes fund raising can be done in many ways although we need to and will bind the new coin to qrk in as many new ways as possible. If it turns out to be it's own entity in the future it will have given qrk holders a nice head start and should provide many joint services for qrk along the way

2. Yes the eventual goal is ROI projects that will lead to what you correctly say all coins need more than anything else.

3. Yes, they will not be sold to the market. They will be sold to the foundation in return for the companion coin. I mean any new coin has no trading volume, the volume comes from speculation on the future of the coin.

4. I agree with this point. QRKS value is important hence why people saying the sinking value is not important are wrong.

I think your main question is why a new coin with great features should be used to boost qrks failing value. I think qrk if handled correctly still has a lot to offer. That is a matter of opinion but if you are not a qrk holder i guess it is easy to see if from another perspective.

Who are you really, i find it hard to believe you joined just now and already ask these questions. There is no need to have a fake handle just come and discuss with your real user name.

New ? Maybe not... Style is familiar to me. Motive however is unclear.

Thule was the handle of a remarkably consistent critic of QRK. He was very persistent when we started the QRK forum in Nov., and so far, the price decline in some ways proves him right.
1473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoBiz Magazine Cover! | Cryptogenic Bullion | CGB on: July 14, 2014, 01:02:40 AM

... as long as we stay true to our established inflationary profile.

Does this mean you are also in favor of paying out the not-minted coins to people that do mint or what is your idea about this? You can look at it from CGB as a whole, all the total coins inflation or a more individual look inflation per coin where some coins do have 1.5% inflation and other coins do not.

Although I do think not-minted coins should not be created an alternative is to gather these for development, marketing, promo's etc. that can help all if spend correct. Just an idea.

I do like the idea very much as it keeps us in the inflationary profile while encouraging CGB owners to secure the network. Your idea of using this unclaimed excess for development projects is very intriguing as well and is something we should by all means look into. Very good idea BTCat!

Completely honest opinion here, aiming only to help...

As you may know I have been with CGB since the early days, but the 1.5% stake means I use my CPU for other higher % PoS coins. There are now lots of really good ones, with very active dev teams, anonymous send systems, x11 algorithms etc.. The ones which I believe have the right idea are keeping down long-term inflation by tapering stake % over a couple years, but offering a very high % initially to spread adoption asap. If you do that, it has no detriment to investors expectation, because the number of coins after say, year 2 is known  eg. If you want to say 1m coins cap, start at 250k, and have 100& PoS in year one, 50% year 2 and taper down.

Adoption, and getting holders eager to use the wallet will IMO be the difference between survival and extinction.

Hey Majormax, your insights are always welcome. I will try to quickly cover my thoughts on each. Consider that CGB has completed its hyperinflationary phase, where others may have years to go. This puts us at 2% today which is attractive to investors because its not being inflated away, like bitcoin which sits around 10% I believe. Imagine a major financial crisis is around the corner. We will be well positioned to deal with it, especially once put through the proving grounds of CryptoTown. Just because a coin has a high current PoS reward (payin' off early adopters), doesn't mean that its other fundamentals are also attractive. If we drastically change protocol now, it may preclude many of these benefits.

Many features out there are experimental. If each coin can do one thing really well, we can rely on a suite of coins to provide for our needs.

It is also not guaranteed raising the PoS reward will increase adoption. It only gives new coins to people who alreay have coins or who buy some just to be able to create more. Aside from that I haven't been able to come up for another reason why it would make people think CGB is better,

Adoption and security. I think that sums up our current focus Smiley Keep em comin!

papersheepdog, Canada

Agree broadly with what you say...A diverse portfolio is certainly important. It has not been possible to accurately predict the precise winners over the last 18 months, that is why I hold around 60 different altcoins. I make my judgements based on the practicalities of being a holder, and how I feel when comparing coins with each other.
I like to know that a coin will have plenty of nodes and live connections to maintain the network going forward. There are some coins with lightning-fast transactions and stakings out there, and that gives me confidence in the coin. The huge differences between coins are instructive.
1474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHARE]ShareCoin - Pure POS - The only coin backed up by a real bussiness on: July 14, 2014, 12:39:05 AM
Sounds weird alright - clearly a lot of people here were very excited about the project, and it sounds like things had been going well.

Anyway, I've managed to download the chain and extract all the distribution transactions. So keep your original private keys/wallets - those addresses will all get a LottoShares distribution. 7080 per address.

You should be able to find your address here.

https://github.com/LottoShares/lottoshares/blob/master/release/thirtypercent2.txt

I see my original address at 1703 on your list.

I have 800k Sharecoin in another wallet that I 'saved' from the exchange LOL

1475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHARE]ShareCoin - Pure POS - The only coin backed up by a real bussiness on: July 13, 2014, 11:09:49 PM
What was the total number of coins in ShareCoin - I see that 100,000,000 were planned for free distribution, but was that all the coins, or was the dev holding on to a lot of them?

To cut a long story short...

The dev was indeed a genius, the distribution was full fair and completely documented : 100,000,000 coins to 1583 applicants. There was no premine.... but then the dev launched an amazing scheme to take Sharecoins in payment for his exchange (which worked great) valuing the exchange Sharexcoin, at 200 times the total number of Sharecoin extant: 100,000 (50,000 available) shares at 20,000 Sharecoin per Sharex share. Offered double % PoS for a 30 day lock in on balances, then , when he had the lion's share of Sharecoin (as well as all other coins on the exchange) locked down, he disappeared with the loot.

It's a mystery to me why he would do that, instead of making really good money (and he could have done) honestly.

So the bulk of sharecoins are still out there somewhere. (apologies for the number of 'share' words in this)

Price got twice in just one statement from developer.

its what everyone wanted and was waiting for

Yes, developer need to understand about statement, just keeping silence always die the coin, he need to give statement like this every week.

Maybe, but supporters also need patience. The joint venture between developers is a really good move. It will be the only way coins can survive in future, by joining forces. The more development talent is cooperating, the better.
1478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoBiz Magazine Cover! | Cryptogenic Bullion | CGB on: July 13, 2014, 09:43:41 AM
"I had another idea that we could have the protocol reward all unclaimed interest at each block to the winner of the minting process."
Sorry but I am very much against this. If someone is not minting, it's their choice but it doesn't mean someone else should get it. These coins should never be created.
It puts the person not minting at disadvantage. It doesn't feel right imo.

edit: just read the discussion:
"PoS reward is a zero sum game. If everyone is generating stake, their slice of the pie remains unchanged. Only if you fail to mint are you punished and wealth is transferred towards those who do. Therefore it almost isn’t even a reward unless others fail to do it."

This is a very bad idea. You want to force people to mint while they don't want to. It's a way to demotivate people to spend their coins.

At 1.5%, it doesn't motivate me to mint. I open coin wallets with larger stakes (50% +) on a daily basis, but don't do that with lower staking coins.

There is so much competition in the Cryptocurrencies now that I think low % coins must be losing out. The more high staking currencies there are, the lower the hash rates of low stake coins will go.

Add the config file as post above. Check OP if in doubt.

Wallet is synching very fast for me (and staking fast as well)

Supercoin was selected by Cryptsy. It must have some merits.

It has lots of merits. There's just a bunch of morons with nothing better to do than to keep spreading crap about it to drive the price down.

They must then have an agenda. When the price gets low enough they will buy the coins on the market. These are just games, but Supercoin is fundamentally unchanged. It works extremely well. I will accumulate slowly at this level, and a bit below.
