1421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AnimeCoin [アニメコイン] ANI on: July 30, 2014, 12:08:09 PM
I can't get the windows animecoin wallet working, it says something along the lines of : "Failed to read block". Does anyone have a fix? It may be this way because my computer crashed, I think.

Hi DarkWolf

You have 2 options to get your animecoin wallet working again for you:

Close your animecoin-qt at the very beginning.

1. Option; Restart blockchain download at zero:
- delete all files exept wallet.dat & animecoin.conf in your personal Data folder.
Location -> "C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\BitCoin" (Vista and 7)
(You should show hidden files and folders, if you can't see the "Appdata" Folder)
- start your animecoin client and wait until the full blockchain is downloaded again.

2. Option; Reindex & Rescan your blockchain:
- start your animecoin client from the commando line with the reindex & rescan option
(Win+R , "cmd" , ENTER, "location of your animecoin-qt\animecoin-qt.exe -reindex -rescan", ENTER)
- wait until your blockchain is fully reindexed and your wallet rescanned

source: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Running_Bitcoin

Good advice.

A simple way would be to start from scratch (obviously saving your wallet.dat first) removing everything in the roaming folder and allowing your computer to download the full Anime client. (you may need to manually insert a new .conf file as well, before you sync.)

What do you guys think of just using volume as a way of gauging public interest in alts?
I realize it is not perfect, clearly. But it has been nice seeing XMR climb, but we are not alone.

Here is the site I use to see alt volumes: http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/coins/info
(If you know of any others, please let me know.)

Currently we are the #6 coin. Dark has been falling. But Cloak seems to be extremely strong in volume lately.  It is almost on par with LTC.
I have read not much good about Cloak here, but it is almost the #2 coin and it is an "anonymous" coin as well. Volume is around 1000 BTC.

IAS

In such a speculative market, volume can be quite ephemeral. A coin often trades heavy volume for a few days, or weeks, before slowly falling to oblivion.

Volume trend, together with longer term analysis would be relevant.  eg Using multiday moving averages, similar to stock prices.

Calm yourself, son.

I am likely your elder.

According to information known to me, AnonyMint is 10-20 years older than fluffypony. I think that (as well as his credentials, and pure motives) should increase our respect towards him. Only ignorant people ignore AnonyMint.

Quote
I told you to reign in dga. He reflects badly on your coin.

Freedom of speech is not so easily reigned, and public white- and blacklists of politically correct people sounds like a bad idea.

Fluffypony's response of whitelisting the core team and "let the others speak for themselves only" seems good.

I would like to have a technical and factual discussion, but instead you want to fucking play this shit. That means fight.

There are technical Monero threads, dev threads and other places for those issues. This thread is for fucking playing this shit, as well as serious tech. And also it does not necessarily mean fight.

Thanks for the interjection...your moderation is skilful.

To paraphrase you, a bit of passion is inevitable, and good, I agree. There is a fine line between discussing specific technicals of alt.coins , and philiosophy of cryptocurrecy generally.
1424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★ [ANN] ECCoin (ECC) ★★★ ECCoin - Green Future FORK FIXED UPGRADE NEEDED on: July 30, 2014, 10:26:58 AM

i would first like to say, i am not the coin dev. i just understand how the code works and want to help the coin. i personally think that linux is the best operating system. i have a lot of personal problems with macs and apple as a company in general. i dont like them. that being said, that in no way reflects my opinion on what i think the intelligence of the community is. i just think mac designed OSX poorly and i dont like it. i know nothing about mac code because i use linux when i can and windows for compatibility to most applications that dont work on WINE (i also use windows for gaming).

i dont want to get into the fight of what OS is better, but if you really want to. then here is some food for thought. as you said tech people are assholes and dont support mac stuff. why do you think this is? (the point im making here is a lot of tech people dont like macs because they are built poorly which is all i was saying in my first post you commented on)

+1

Thanks for comment.

I think the simplest way to express difference between systems is that there is a range of user abilities and requirements which are satisfied in different ways by different systems.

We should indeed invest in marketing. Look at cloak, their success is based on a few rich investors who pump the price daily. This started short after the beginning of their launch and it made their name grow fast, just like darkcoin's name, amongst the people. It's clear that nowadays a coin needs to have a strong community (or say just a few individuals) with a shitload of money to invest in times when a coin is decreasing in price (especially during the holidays). Whenever cloak drops in price, there's someone to pump it again. If Super did this from the start we would be in the top 10 marketcap list, easily. If we start doing it now it should induce a stable high price where Super deserves to be, it would be more in the spotlights too. It's unfortunate to say but having a coin with specifications that are amongst the best is not enough itself to make it to the top, that's because the players on the altcoinmarket changed. They are in first place interested in numbers on the exchange, quality gets second place. But being visible on the marketcap list is a very important and vital factor for a coin, Super needs to shine here and afterwards people will also appreciate the specifications aswell.

Cloak is a vastly bigger operation with a large team including many developers and a huge media exposure.

Super cannot compete on that level until the community and development team is much larger.

Supercoin is following a good path for it's size and niche, and we should concentrate on one step at a time.

Which channel would be best to promote ?

IRC
Reddit
Independent Forum.

to help community accretion.

Community is good here, we don't want extreme views..

Tip : Don't bash coins on this thread, stay positive

Oh i see what you mean, this, hiring dev, will not help or speed at all.
Better we have more marketer or promoters.

Most important to get the correct talent. Marketing and promotion of course is something to be done at this time, and a bigger team will be needed (only to take future load from you) .

Solid fundamentals will win out, just need to keep reviewing everything, but be open to the idea of other developers as much as possible, because that is the future, one day will be needed and is not possible to find good people quickly, just happens as things evolve.

1428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: July 28, 2014, 10:06:03 AM
I think Anonymint is a little too demanding or perfectionist in terms of coin/protocol specifications, such as zero transaction fees, but here's my current reasons for why I can't really support Bitcoin or Monero, which is a Bitcoin derivative:

Cross posted from:  The BTC price is too high for it's current security model

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=710107.0

The current Bitcoin model is already an obvious failure while people walk around in a delusional state pretending it isn't.  It's advertised as requiring "no trusted 3rd parties", yet the entire thing relies on them in the form of a small number of mining pools for block verification.  Since Bitcoin never solved the "no trusted 3rd parties" dilemma, it's time to admit that and actually come up with a solution, most likely assign a performance metric to regulate those parties (i.e. PoS with reputation variable).

Unless every single iota of Bitcoin dev manpower is redirected towards the solitary goal of getting rid of mining pools, they're operating under the textbook definition of insanity.

The model itself may not be a failure... It can be viewed as merely in a temporary stage of development.

Perhaps it is not possible to reach a trustless system without first going through this phase (needing to trust some 3rd parties, whether nodes/miners etc). The reason for this is because the scale of adoption (critical mass of the system) needed to be self sustaining cannot be achieved with a trustless system starting from scratch: It never reaches exponential growth for lack of trust.
1429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SUPERCOIN] Anonymous Wallet Live & PoS Superblocks >>> MULTIPOOL ONLINE! on: July 28, 2014, 09:32:18 AM

I'll be making a Supercoin thread tomorrow when I find the time....etc..

Perhaps not wise for you to descend to that level of argument. Ignore the bait, and concentrate on your own interests. Best of luck to you.

I think you will find most of the Supercoin posters to be cooperative and polite. There are a couple of loose cannons, as in any community.

There are going to be some big winners amongst the Trustless sending developers, and possibly Supercoin will be one of those.
1430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SUPERCOIN] Anonymous Wallet Live & PoS Superblocks >>> MULTIPOOL ONLINE! on: July 28, 2014, 08:58:41 AM
god damn it KIDS stop this nonsense !
don't care about it!  make a thread and discuss there stop this foolishness please !
When going in the BMW forum i don't see any Audi fans arguing with BMW fans about which engine is better,if people who understand from cars only, have the capacity not to this why are YOU doing this ?
there is nothing common with cloak and Super they are on different stage of development LIKE I SAID COMPARE YOUR dic..ks elsewhere

+1  Cooperation is always best. Strange how so many posters feel the need to attack.

So,devs, lets have a look at Cloakcoin's solution to the common flaw in anon transactions, and see how it works. Maybe there are some helpful things there.
1431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SUPERCOIN] Anonymous Wallet Live & PoS Superblocks >>> MULTIPOOL ONLINE! on: July 28, 2014, 08:53:12 AM
@CryptoBull it looks people like you what is your plan as community leader?
Hello,
as community leader i will provide support for SuperTeam and Dev and most off all support for the community,i will give ideas help and basically everything i do since i become a supporter and investor in this great Coin Smiley
I have a lot of ideas of that how we take decisions regarding the coin and the thread but i will need both support from the members and the dev team.
We are facing an revolutionary features never seen before in working phase on other coins that was the reason to become a supporter of SuperCoin.
Looking forward for working with the dev team and community please if somebody has a idea please share when we are united we can move mountains Cool

I proud for Hard as Steel community and a Faster than a bullet Dev Smiley)))))
This is great.

OMG, this coins is a fail.

You're running a vote "Should CryptoBull takeover as community leader "

once you're in 400+ pages is it not too late to be thinking about this kinda stuff?

I'm calling it now. This coin will be dead and forgotten in months.

I'll come back soon to check up on you guys!

Not at all. The development team is growing, not swapping around. Cryptobull is taking over community liason as an additional pair of hands.

supercointeam can now spend more time coding etc..
1433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cloakcoin's PoSA is not a trustless system for anonymous transaction on: July 28, 2014, 08:40:29 AM
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
I can't give you my eyes or my experiences; you'll just have to use it and find out for yourself.
You can be fair or not.
You're posting a special thread claiming a theory as fact. Calling people out. That's a lot of effort.
Now please tell us more about supercoin again.

As far as I can see, the method by which Supercoin moves to a trustless system is unclear. I have rewritten some of the OP explanation in a general way but the dev has not confided in me regarding exact detail..Unproven, but not disproven.

Cloakcoin's system is far more advanced  in it's development, and therefore obviously has more market value. However, anonymous systems are all very much experimental atm. No doubt there are many more on the drawing board.

I don't see the case for denigrating any coin at this stage.
1434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SUPERCOIN] Anonymous Wallet Live & PoS Superblocks >>> MULTIPOOL ONLINE! on: July 27, 2014, 10:49:23 PM
I'm trying to explain Phase II to someone but I'm not sure I understand well and I keep searching for old post on the thread to explain it.

We should have a hype post/description on Phase II to send to investors. Sort of .PDF presentation on the features, the new innovation, etc.

Agree, that .PDF will help us to understand more easily.

But if developer even post in pastebin that will also help and we can directly go there through URL.

Detailed and combined, significant, relevant infirmation in a BLOG.
Sharing one information via link on page 430 in this theead is just stupid and delivers only one small piece of the cake.

We need a key information resource base, where significant updates and milestones are posted and stored.
So everybody interested can get the information he/she/it needs in a snap.
This leads to convidence and investments/support for Super.

I am happy to help , bring it on Rockstars, we have sth big in our hands and need to leverage it!

I am rewriting the OP bit by bit, coordinating with the developer, and will update changes as they happen. ATM this is only for the purpose of syntax and clarity.
1435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PES] Pesa - Anonymous Coin - No Premine - Dynamic Interest - PoStr on: July 27, 2014, 12:19:28 PM
The word scam and scammer is so overused in crypto it no longer has any meaning. Being unprepared and/or incompetent doesn't equal scam. What is the scam here? It was a fair launch, no premine, no massive dev dumping, and the price was gradually going up until the wallet mishap. Yes the dev dropped the ball big time with the wallet upgrade, but I do not think it was a scam.

The dev needs to find WiFi wherever he is and upload the Windows wallet already.

How about panic scam ?

you love scams so what do you care?

I do care. Always enjoy a good scam. Always looking out for one. Observing the whole process of a good scam is like having sex

Were you in Sharecoin ? That was the best executed scam of all. Fooled even the most diehard skepticists and trolls.
1436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PES] Pesa - Anonymous Coin - No Premine - Dynamic Interest - PoStr on: July 27, 2014, 10:22:06 AM

Yes,seen it many times before. unfortunately. The dev. has run.

No he hasn't

OK, great news.
1437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CASH] Crypto CASH | Proof of Stake & COIN CONTROL | On Cryptsy | 0 PREMINE on: July 27, 2014, 10:02:25 AM
Hello,

I have seen, been mining a little myself but def noticed the large power mining going on!, it does seem to suggest someone is very interested in obtaining cash coins,  the problem is if this one person has too many and once we get it more common, they might come back out from being hidden to try and "take over" or even ruin the coin value by large scale selling

Paul.

The coin has no value yet, so that will not  be a problem. I doubt that it will revive, but maybe worth a long shot.
1438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PES] Pesa - Anonymous Coin - No Premine - Dynamic Interest - PoStr on: July 27, 2014, 09:58:12 AM

How will this coin implement smart contracts ahead of every other coin when it takes it 2 days to patch a wallet???

 Huh Huh Huh Huh

2 days? Tell me how many when someone -not the devs or anyone connected with them of course-, manages to fix it.

Otherwise, not days, not weeks. Not ever. The "dev" doesn't know how to fix a wallet. Obviously.

But you still want to hear (and believe in) crap? Crap coming your way, in loads, right away.

That's crypto - everyone know the risk. I just don't understand why you want to scare everyone..? Maybe to shake out some more cheap coins for yourself ..?  Grin

E: Selling now would be stupid.

Well I have to very strongly disagree: This is NOT crypto at all. There are dozens of serious coins with serious developers and serious investors supporting their projects. Of course most of them, are not hidden under anonymous handles, are honest, prepared, transparent and have a pathway that they follow scrupulously (if you are interested, I can give you a short list right off the top of my head).

The time when I warned people on this forum about PESA is long gone as well as the opportunity to have escaped more or less on time and, above all, the opportunity for everyone to stay away from this train wreck. So no, I don't want to scare anyone anymore. As a matter of fact, for good, bad or more probably ugly, those who have chosen to remain invested in this deserve fully whatever is coming ahead.

I am just watching and, quite frankly, enjoying it.

Yes,seen it many times before. unfortunately. The dev. has run.
1439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | cPoW | PC mining | Stability | Hashcows - QRK Payouts on: July 26, 2014, 11:13:08 PM
There are 4 major reasons why quark went down which needs to be fixed.I posted a very long post but it got deleted by my own browser so i will write it now quick as i dont feel like rewritting it right at the moment and will explain it later

1.preminscam (big wallets)
2.Kolin
3.big wallets not doing anything just cashing out profits
4.Max

Before you guys wont fix these 4 major issues quark will have no future

Well, Quark may have no future, but your 4 points are plainly ridiculous, and not the cause of a price decline.

Interesting to see the squabbling on this thread now, where before there was positivity. The cause of that is the same as for most other alts.

I will not sleep tonight .. I want to see this rally to 2k when dev fix the wallet Cheesy

It would be more exciting to see miners dump it down to 500 once the pools free up all those coins.

Knowing how markets behave, the dump is more likely first. That does not affect the long term viability either way, but you have to make your decision to buy or sell: there are no certainties.
