2701  Other / Meta / Re: How to report post burster? on: October 15, 2018, 06:17:20 PM
I've never seen this outside of applying for a Sig Campaign.

If they are doing this in spammy megathreads it's only part of the issue; as the manager should have some standards.

Regardless in a discussion thread there is no reason to do this, you can always jump in at anytime; so "report to moderator" should be fine. The only problem with this being effectively reported is you have to catch and report it before they update it; otherwise they haven't really broken a forum rule. I don't know how the rule is interpreted by Mods/Admin in regards to updating posts in quick succession.

To make sure it is seen, you can use archive.is to capture the moment. I would suggest however when doing that, to wait a couple hours at least or as you say it could be days. This will show the merit of your accusation.

On top of reporting to moderator, send the evidence to the campaign manager. This is where they will feel the most punishment IMO by possible being booted from the campaign and/or not being paid for the week.

One thing I have been doing is going through these threads is reporting any spam within the last week; to prevent them receiving payment. I do that because a lot of the shitposters only post the minimum required so that they can fill the quota on other accounts; or their lazy... maybe both.
2702  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should the US be spending money on this B-2 stealth bomber? on: October 15, 2018, 05:59:17 PM
They have to build the stealth bombers so Trump can invade Canada!

Having had enough industrial equipment designed and manufactured in the US fail to meet expectations at certain points in time; I suggest doing so anytime between October and May.

We're all in our homes so we won't see it coming. Thanks to another great innovation we do have an Opiod army of sleepers at the ready willing to do anything.

If they weren't going to spend the money developing this, they would spend it on some other weapon for another inevitable conflict. Though if any governement followed the money on these defence contracts they could probably do it for half.

wouldn't it have been better to spend the money on improving the domestic infrastructure in the US,

This isn't as flashy and doesn't earn votes or campaign contributions.

There is the possibility this is a brother is my father/uncle/grandpa ; or sister is mom/auntie/grandma

I'm pretty sure Suchmoon has it correct though by catching all the linguistic clues pointing to Alts.

Jumping in late though I have to laugh that the defense was I posted it again but it was from the wrong account, which either way was going to be copy/paste; because you still can't go around doing that with your own posts.
2704  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Current List of Competitive Hardware - October 2018 on: October 15, 2018, 05:03:52 PM
*snip*

There is a discussion thread regarding this miner.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4984539.msg46915602#msg46915602

That link will direct you to a post of mine within the thread, feel free to post in that thread. Once enough validating information has been collected I'll add this company and hardware.

Edited: If you can post screenshots of the status page and the logs to review that would be great. So far we haven't seen this, or packaging. Could maybe do with some pics from the sides as well to get a good picture of the total miner.
2705  Other / Meta / Re: I've given 2 merits to a poster, and I'd like to help them. on: October 15, 2018, 03:34:59 PM
Man OP and Jet cash seem to have the same problems. *smug grin*

This seems to be the type of member you are looking for. I suggest the PM method; but use it to explain and invite them to the "Fit to Talk" initiative. You could then end the PM with an edited version of the post, showing how you can assist them.

I only suggest the extra work as that appears to be what you want to do to improve the forums quality. This way you have put out your offer and they can choose the next step, other than that you have fulfilled your position as a cog in the merit system.
2706  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Unexplained wealth order on: October 15, 2018, 02:47:14 PM
I suggest you do some reading on the difference between common law and maritime admiralty law. The system of contract law/maritime law has been trying very hard to crush the last few remaining common law court systems. Common law is where all of our human rights stem from, especially in the US. The commercial system has long been in the process of subverting these rights via manufactured consent. One of the results of this is that it doesn't matter what you do or who you are, if they want what you have they can take it. It is not hard under the crushing bureaucracy of federal laws (maritime code) to manufacture pretext to do so.  I have seen it myself. Under this system we are simply chattel property waiting in line for our turn to be harvested. The solution is common law and human rights. We have the legal framework, we just have to enforce it rather than being tricked into submitting.

I guess I haven't noticed that as much, again the blissful ignorance of being in North America. I know my family has seen the reach of governments when they "need" land or the likes. This has usually been done in a manner of a bill passing through whichever level of government claims jurisdiction.

My focus here though wasn't so much in how the legal framework of a country would allow this situation. I was more concerned with the idea snowballing; mostly because a government of any size at anytime can make an argument to begin these types of overreach's IMO. I see this first case as an easy win for the prosecuting persecuting nation because they will have cherry picked the best case to put this forward looking for a win. Once it can be proven that it has legs and can catch the criminals hiding in plain site; they should expand it's reach and find more in broader categories.

Governments around the world have become way too big and they need money to maintain their growth.

I think this intrusive actions will intensify as governments will dig deeper to extract more from its citizens.  A few years back they shut down offshore banking for non-residents, now they look deeper.

Governments in most cases are running like a business. A poorly run business, so they do tend to try and scramble to find money in all the wrong places. That is the concern I had with the situation in the OP snowballing.

Quote
The solution is not to be tied to one particular country, have multiple passports, maintain residency in tax-free locale while keeping money in multiple locations around the world.  Go where they treat you best.  Keep everything under corporation names.

Nelson Rockefeller famously said: "Own nothing but control everything"

Leave it to a Rockefeller. Personally I have no issue paying taxes for what is needed (that obviously varies from person to person). My issue arises from the "breaks" and "loopholes" that exist in the system to create an unequal taxation system; top that off with an extreme amount of government spending waste.

I do like this overall discussion of law, one of my college courses actually made me consider it as a profession. That and I really used to enjoy a good debate on how to interpret situational facts and how they applied to the case.

With the Magna Carta talk, as has been the practice in a peoples uprising the king would have been considered lucky to get the option between signing and dying. This however actually started as a deal between a king and the Barons, not exactly the people.

I brought up what I did because that is exactly how the premise you put forward in your OP is being executed around the world. It is in fact expanding its reach as income dwindles and they need fresh meat. *snip*

Not a problem, I like the way the conversation has evolved on this topic. It is nice to have multiple angles to look at. You've given me a few things to read up on in my free time.

2707  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BTC Miner Snow Panther B1+ on: October 15, 2018, 01:58:04 PM
Because fans are 140mm it's easy to think they are smaller, so one pic is next to a T9+.

https://imgur.com/a/uLfMc3f

Thanks for the pic posting tip.

Hey thanks for the photo. You're the first I've seen with one of these, glad it's working out for you.

Do you mind posting a few more photos. Something with the packaging? Also a screen cap of the status page showing hashrate?

Considering you have one and no one on the forum has done a review you may want to consider that.

I was also wondering did you have to get it through a re seller? The website has a MOQ of 100 when I check. I've been watching your updates and gathering info before adding them to that pinned thread.
Thanks for taking the time to update the community.
2708  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 921 released - 20 TH/s @ 1800W on: October 14, 2018, 09:16:41 PM
I don't know why Canaan insists on this side bullshit.  We don't care about a lower power unit, that's what a 841 is for.  We want the 30th at 2000watts unit like was mentioned before this came out, efficiency is better than just lower power usage what the hell.

Well luckily for us home miners they are bringing that efficiency out in smaller models as well.

I'd love to throw a couple of these beasty 2000w+ units in my garage year round, it's not as easy to move them into the house in winter to offset my heating bill.

Now I'm eagerly awaiting both announcements. Considering the only other company that announced something like this is looking more like vaporware every day, all eyes are back on Canaan for me atm.
2709  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: My Plan on: October 14, 2018, 01:07:45 AM
Had to read back a little.

Honestly right now you can get 741's for like 20 -50$.

Of the ones I've run they tend to average around 7.8 TH/S.

Realistically with shipping going up based on more units you could grab 4-10 of these right now and get hashing away. And be well ahead. Even grab a few extra in case you need parts, I've only had one board fail in the 12 I've run... and I'm pretty sure it was a heat issue .

I'll look again but I believe it was cryptouniverse that had them on extremely cheap. If you want i can also reach out to a Canadian guy i bought a few off a couple months ago, he got burned with a pricey pallet and held on to them to long.

I look some more in a bit and see if I can find the other listings I had noticed
2710  Other / Meta / Re: What is my fault? on: October 13, 2018, 08:04:08 PM
Does it show as banned if a newbie account gets nuked?

Just speculating based on the low quality comment.

Quote

I found many comments of other members almost similar to my comment. I didn't copied their comments.

This alone would have led to the post getting deleted. Now that you mention an Ann thread I'm wondering if they were incentivizing posting.
2711  Other / Meta / Re: My Posts Getting Deleted on: October 13, 2018, 04:57:57 PM
Considering your account was not banned there's a good chance they may have been redundant posts in threads that have become a hotbed for spam.

Did you receive a PM stating a post/reply if yours was deleted? If not then it was the whole thread being trashed. It happens.

Having posts deleted isn't a major concern either. I've had several deleted, it happens. Before you post just think has this been said a bunch of times in the thread? Am I adding anything of value to the conversation?

Good luck.

There are like 100 threads on this subject and frodocooper just nukes them, and thank god he does this.

Very true.

Edit: Yeah hoodwinked scrolling mobile, this is why I wish threads auto locked after a certain amount of time.
2712  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitfury Tardis (SHA256) 80 TH/s 6300w on: October 12, 2018, 11:39:25 AM
*snip* To change efficiency there has to be some regulator adjustment, or changing the number of nodes in a fixed-volt string.

Forgive my ignorance.

When your talking about the nodes is that in the circuitry, or would that refer to the number of hashboards connected?
2713  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did I improve or not? on: October 12, 2018, 09:21:34 AM
This doesn't really have anything to do with the forum. It's about you personally, so I don't think meta is the right place. By posting here that makes me think it is about the merits.

So why don't you go open a reputation thread or something and be more clear in what challenge you want someone to issue you.

Personally I would just go about posting and take my time trying to achieve the goals you have set with grammar and what not. Then maybe see if someone wants to review your overall posting on the forum.

Edit: Post has since been moved
2714  Other / Meta / Re: Bounty Manager as a good Merit source! on: October 12, 2018, 09:11:14 AM
In my opinion, the Merit system in Bitcoin Forum is such a thing that merit will be proved by those who will be a better quality of post quality. There will be a lot of maintenance. There is some number of Bounty managers who do not do any work, they will be doing this work.

All that is missing here is great project or an application to join a campaign.

My favorite is the lapse from logical thinking where they would do the work because they aren't doing their other work.

Edit: Maybe OP wants to lock their topic now
2715  Other / Meta / Re: I'm thinking of running a topic starting contest for non-english speakers. on: October 12, 2018, 09:02:13 AM
That was my first thought, especially as the post will have already gained 5 merits for being accepted. Also, as was shown by the Dr Gomez post, other members award merits as well, so the highlighted thread becomes a bit of a merit honey pot.

Another option I considered was to guarantee a minimum of 25 for the winner. That would mean adding 20 if no other member awards a merit. That seemed counter productive though, as a really good thread starter shoud receive more merits, and the bonus would be less in that case. Don't forget that 10 merits may be a lot for a newbie for ranking, but it's only 1% of the legendary requirement.

I know 1% of legendary, for a single post in which they are receiving some great guidance. Seems a pretty sweet deal to me. You could say it's 1000% of Jr. Member, 100% of Member and 10% of Full.

10 is definitely nothing to sneeze at. Like you said the odds are that this post will receive extra attention and may pick up the odd merit from others. I would probably launch the post and project in secret if you plan to award 10 or more merits to it. Then allow the public to take over see how the post does in the wild, and then after a week or 2 award your merits accordingly.

There is nothing preventing you from monitoring these people in the future to watch their progress, and continue awarding them merit if they maintain that level of quality moving forward. I feel you are more inclined to go with a higher reward because you have been having a hard time finding lower ranked members to reward, and this could sort of be seen as an example to those ranks.
2716  Other / Meta / Re: What can we do to stop redundant full quotes? on: October 12, 2018, 08:15:20 AM
*snip*

Honestly I've heard of reading between the lines, but after reading a few of your posts this evening I'm convinced. This is the first time I've seen someone "speak" between them.

You are consistently within a few feet of the topic, but just not quite there. It always comes across as random facts and junk by the time I'm done reading it.

A forum where you discuss a problem, whether good or bad, clear (hair is black). different thoughts, whether you respond well or badly is up to your mind, obviously I always give what I know and best. That is your right.

Thanks for clearing that up  Roll Eyes

That's twice now I've seen someone mention you using a translator program to post. Just go post in your local and be content having your message make sense to you and the people reading it.
2717  Other / Meta / Re: I'm thinking of running a topic starting contest for non-english speakers. on: October 12, 2018, 08:07:23 AM
I think it is high.

Perhaps you would consider something like 10. This would boost them to member status, as it seems you really want to provide a nice reward for their effort.

2718  Other / Politics & Society / Unexplained wealth order on: October 12, 2018, 07:46:03 AM
My ears perked up a bit as I was driving to work and I caught parts of a story involving this interesting tool. So from what I understand it is currently aimed at foreign officials and their families, strictly in the UK.

Say you appear on paper to have to much money, granted the case I heard was fairly extravagant, but the problem was the state had no proof. So the new law requires you to prove your wealth is legitimate. Now I thought this may be of particular interest here as I've heard a couple people may have made a large amount of money in crypto.

It just seems baffling to me that instead of investigating and building a case they are requiring people to prove they earned the money legally themselves. If you can't you lose and they have the authority at that point to begin seizing assets. Now depending on how the UK at the time favors BTC or any crypto for the sake of this discussion, they could attempt to force a forfeiture of your property. I just wonder how long before powers such as this are expanded to encompass a larger sample of people with unexplained personal wealth.

thanks for help

No worries, just happy to pay back a small portion of the assistance given.

Sorry I'm out of my depth any further.

I actually haven't updated to the latest wallet yet, I'm waiting t'il closer to the end of the month to make sure there's no issues and I don't have to update again.

That's weird.

Not sure I'm much help, but I'm guessing you've been keep up to date with the wallet updates that have happened? Not sure if that could be causing an issue for you.

There are some pretty helpful people on the Discord, not sure how many of them watch the thread here.
