[FULL].... kinda says it all.

Apart from that the only exception is this  from the OP

Note: If the campaign is full, but you are a very trusted member of the community, feel free to apply

Honestly just keep an eye on this campaign on Fridays when the round ends. If spots are available they show up then or Saturday usually.
2802  Other / Meta / Re: My Account is hacked! Need suggestions on: October 03, 2018, 04:27:46 AM

Yeah, but there's been no word whether that effects previously staked addresses or if you have to input an address again. I imagine existing accounts that have been lost would still need to be manually processed.

Like with most of the recent updates, it will just be dropped on us one day. If the new system is automatic as has been floated around, they might need to be manually handled. The list isn't getting any shorter so they may be waiting at this point in hopes of cutting the list down, if the new system can automatically restore some of the backlogged accounts.

Depending on the system they use, I really don't know if it's possible to automate account recovery based on verifying signatures. Even so I think everyone would have to input the address they are staking in their profile as opposed to staking it on the forum itself.
2803  Other / Meta / Re: Username Changes on: October 03, 2018, 04:12:06 AM
Honestly I'm opposed to username changes, unless there is a publicly available list of previous names.

When you've been here for a while you get to know the names of people you like to interact with and others you don't feel like wasting your time on. So if all it takes for some trolling spammy SOB, is a minimal payment to change their name, all bets are off.

I understand why donators received that as a perk, especially when the forum was smaller and easily traceable as it's not a massive list of people who currently have the ability. Even now the donators that are still around could be easily traced after a name change by past post history and staked addresses.

Just my opinion but not worth the annoyance, especially since the forum isn't hard up for cash BTC.
2804  Other / Meta / Re: You have been banned by a forum moderator on: October 03, 2018, 03:59:33 AM
All I can see was that you received an autoban, tried to go through your post history but there was just pages of bounty crap.

I can't rule it out but I doubt it was plagiarism, because you haven't even made an attempt to create a useful or constructive post in 8 pages... it's all I could be bothered to look through.

A mod may come along and let you know why you are no longer welcome on the forum.

Edit:
For you I would assume it was something like this:

15. No on-forum altcoin giveaways. [6][e]

15.
Most giveaway threads are no longer allowed in the Alternate cryptocurrencies sections. From now on, posting or replying to such threads could result in being banned. <...>

Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.
<...>

2805  Other / Meta / Re: Not Allowing Newbie to Post a Promotion for Bounties! (Altcoins) on: October 03, 2018, 03:48:41 AM
Since we are hunting a scam post and trying to clean this forum, I would like to suggest that Newbie will not allow to post any promotional or a bounty thread in this forum. If a project is a legit one then they should cooperate with some of the Bounty Manager here or some higher rank to post it. It will make sure that the project will be a legit one and not a scam post only. I know this is not good idea (only suggestion) but it will help the forum to be clean and no posting scam project already.

If you felt it was not a good idea, why bring it forth.

I however disagree; this could help cut down on scams and outright spam promotions. Mostly because every newbie account can be treated as a throwaway. Probably didn't need it's own thread as similar things have been discussed in other longer running threads.

I've seen a few newbies get caught up in unfair bans.

I'd be interested to see who received an unfair ban. I have seen bans reversed if they can prove their innocence, but this is rarely the case.

2806  Other / Meta / Re: Ask the administrator to review my account, thanks you on: October 03, 2018, 01:32:43 AM
*snip*

You are absolutely correct, but we need to rely on the stupidity of most of these people to not figure that out. This way at least there can be some forward progress.

But it is really a pain in the ass to identify those Ban evading users. How many of them are still free to create a new account again and again and keep on earning shitcoins. Another problem that is difficult to resolve.

Correct but they do tend to leave a trail for people to follow. Like the good old group ethereum address because for some reason the group all seem to share the address.  Roll Eyes

The bonus is that every higher ranked account outed does reduce their wage. Now if we could do something about making it necessary to be a member for a paid signature we may get somewhere.

2807  Other / Meta / Re: Stake your Bitcoin address here on: October 03, 2018, 01:17:22 AM
Figured it's time. Had to laugh first attempt was going to be a segwit address; pays to dig a little deeper.

2808  Other / Meta / Re: [MERIT][NSFN] We're destroying more merits than we're sending. Like, way more. on: October 02, 2018, 10:56:56 PM
They went down swinging.
I think that can be compensated for by creating more smerits for merit sources. Or increasing the number.

And if possible their smerits can be decayed. They might need the merits to feel good. And fair enough, they earned them, at least, some of them did.

I dont really understand the second part of what you were saying.

theymos did just ad a bunch of merit sources something like 30, with a lower amount of smerit to distribute iirc.

Honestly I dont see this as a worrying trend. It mostly points to the fact that a lot of people giant take the merit system (or the forum rules) seriously.

The sad part is that most people who see the value in the merit system already try to distribute them ad intended. The ones who are trading/selling/ farming will just continue to ad to the inferno.
2809  Other / Meta / Re: My Account is hacked! Need suggestions on: October 02, 2018, 12:25:55 PM
Just be prepared to wait a while... Some accounts have been waiting a year now I think.

The most recent update I have seen was in mid august where Theymos said he hoped to have account recovery back up to snuff by the end of the year. No promises.

The only way to lock the account is from the email, so you may need to gain access to that first. Did you ever sign a message? if so and you can do it again you might at the very least get the account tagged by DT.
2810  Other / Off-topic / Re: Thank You, Thank You for the Merit! on: October 02, 2018, 12:13:49 PM
People do not need to be thanked for giving out merit. It is merely a function of this forum.

I just posted this because I just want to know all of you guys that we could not come back in this forum without there helping hands for the demoted members.

No one was ever removed from the forum. They just lost the ability to earn money here; due to an easily cheated new requirement.

Good luck on continuing to learn here.
2811  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Research shows it is hard to make money with bitcoin mining on: October 02, 2018, 11:04:48 AM
I don't think switching to an asic resistant algorithm would make a difference.

Some of the coins that where supposed to have this feature have already shown that once they are worth it an asic is developed. That is one benefit to the fact that there are stubborn miners out there or even enough larger miners of differing views to keep the hash fairly spread out.

I'm glad to see more hardware manufacturers have entered the space, as they will obviously compete against one another. This will hopefully help maintain a somewhat decentralized network. In the long run though I unfortunately see things becoming more of a "board" mentality as rising difficulty will phase out a large portion of the population from being able to economically run equipment. This will widdle things down to a few outliers but essentially a handful of extremely large scale miners, who in the end will likely be made up of the manufacturers.
2812  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Research shows it is hard to make money with bitcoin mining on: October 02, 2018, 09:15:48 AM
I was also thinking that perhaps some parties have early access to new hardware and can reap the really high profits you get when hardware is much better than what's out there. What you you think of that hypothesis?

This has been speculated a lot, mostly when looking at Bitmain. It's never been legitimately proven but the tale goes they mined their hardware for months before turning around and selling it to consumers. If I remember correctly it was also visibly noted on other chains as they rolled out certain alt coin miners.

More transparently and provable on that note is the first batch orders. These were the cases you would have noted with a 3 day ROI and yes quickly became a longer timeframe.

- people that keep mining because they believe the price will rise again, but don't realise they're probably better off if they'd stop their mining and buy btc directly instead of paying more for their power than they generate in btc

I think a lot of this category are people who never attained an ROI, and are just holding out to break even in their minds. Some just like things loud and hot.
2813  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Canada's Squire partners with Samsung and Gaonchips for new ASIC chips on: October 02, 2018, 06:20:54 AM
Can't say I heard of squire before today.

With all these new companies coming out with new designs and first time gear developments; I wonder how many just aren't willing to cut their losses, or are in to deep. I imagine most of these companies started forward during the ATH, and have been telling themselves it's going to bounce back. Not that I'm complaining a healthy market needs competition.

Regardless, I'd be very pleased to see a Canadian company in the foray because I'm sick of international shipping and customs.
2814  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Free Electricity - Need Advice on: October 02, 2018, 05:52:05 AM
Just want to check if you've considered the Power supply cost in your start up calculation?

Then seeing as it sounds like you are in a smaller space to mine, have you also thought about the noise mostly, and the heat secondly (not sure of your climate)?

Other than that maybe check out this topic about getting started

After going through that if there are no other issues my only advice is don't wait. Find a machine at the right price and go for it, because if you only have a certain amount of time with this setup your profits decrease each day you wait. You can check out the marketplace here but read these topics before making a deal with anyone.

About Escrow

This one pertains to sellers but lets you know what to look for

Here is a coin profitability calculator site you can use to compare things.

Maybe some others can share their (pool) experiences here aswell for newcomers.

To get a decent understanding of pools, you can always check their threads here on the forum (check the pools board). Generally you can go there ask questions to get a decent vibe of who mines there and why.
2815  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Steady, permanent growth is possible - this is OUR opportunity to turn things on: October 02, 2018, 02:11:21 AM
Steady growth is possible. Permanent growth is not, but maintaining that growth through adoption and practical use is.

The reason for market crash is greed and fear. People didn't really believe in Bitcoin and other crypto currencies. They didn't believe in value of crypto, the vision, the future, the growth. They feared the growth is not sustainable so when they feared the price got too high, they started to panic and sell sell sell...giving the impression all it was, was a Ponzi scheeme. Some gained and most lost. Those who gained however missed an opportunity to gain even more.

If crypto grows permanently, steadily, if it becomes mainstream, everyone will benefit, noone will lose. If greedy scared people do massive sell-off after next bull run, we will see the same depression happen again.

Your understanding of the market and what was going on is a little skewed. You are not taking into account the human nature involved in FOMO. These would be the people who lost from the all time highs. They didn't lose because of people selling at that price they lost because they bought in at the ATH thinking it was going to continue growing at a ridiculous pace.

You mention people who where greedy and scared. I understand the fear sales as these people may be new, maybe invested with funds they couldn't afford to lose and sold. They are not a real issue, because there is always someone looking to buy the dips. The greedy part, may refer to the pump and dumpers, but that's what you should expect from an unregulated market lacking in adoption. If you mean the early adopters or anyone who had coins before the ATH selling to pull out some profits, what's wrong with that?

The best thing for Bitcoin IMO is when you see a big bag put up on the market, this is the opportunity to spread the wealth. Less coins in more peoples hands should be the goal.
2816  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Wu Announces BM 7NM pending Miner release. 42 J/TH on: October 02, 2018, 01:56:19 AM
and forces you to buy it with the psu attached, since the psu needs to handle about 2100 watts.

One thing I've wondered about these attached PSU machines (never owned one). Do the manufacturers make them in a way that you can't use an external one in any way? I've run most of my equipment on 2400W PSU's so in theory if their PSU fails I would have spares.

That is assuming of course that they want to sell it with an integrated PSU. I'm not going to lie I don't see the appeal in it myself. It's just another piece to wear out; so unless they have an abundance of them laying around or on order for pennies on the dollar I wouldn't waste my time. From a consumer standpoint I would probably pay a little extra total cost getting setup, for the convenience of choosing my own PSU.

Thank you good sir. I did yell at my machines for a good 20 minutes when I got home, for their slacker attitudes. No guarantees but they looked scared

Glad you figured it out; thanks for updating the OP accordingly.

I had the same thing happen with 741's once. In my case not sure what had caused the shutdown exactly but 3 of the 4 on that controller came back.

Love it when the solution is the first thing you would hear from the IT department  Cheesy

Well I'll say this much. I wouldn't expect any answers from a company over the weekend, or immediately in any case when it comes to customer service.

So the problem isn't that your money has been taken its that you sent an incorrect amount... not a problem it happens. You just have to calm down for a bit, then will sort it out with you. I've sent blokforge a message as they are also fairly active here in answering questions and helping people.

They are legit. I've ordered and received gear numerous times. Do you have any screencaps or any proof of payment info you can post?

When was the order placed?
