The worthy will own Bitcoin and will profit mightily from its ascendance long before the unworthy are forced aboard the train.
+1 I actually like the train analogy beyond that - it is as if we're building the world's first train, and all around us people stare and say, "That's not a horse! It won't ever work!" Meanwhile the rails are being laid to their door. lol, reminds me of Noah building the ark. It took him 120 years to build, and during that time there was no rain at all, and he was building it on dry land, so it naturally had its detractors. He was 600+ years old before the actual flood came.

@organofcorti, without knowing what you wrote since I have you on ignore, I am sure someone else can verify you are indeed breaking forum rules and harassing me, consider yourself reported paedo.
et tu, brute. Get out and don't come back with your unfounded accusations. Quote below so you can see what he said: And I see you trying some SEO trickery with your sig, too bad it isn't actually going to work as well as you think it might. 2nd offense, if you continue harassing me I will contact the authorities. Come get me, bastard.

Kingston is good to go.
no offence but this doesn't mean a great deal, im sure they have many products just like sandisk do, any specific model you can recommend? DataTraveler DT100G2 and DT Minifun have great speed and excellent performance for writing multiply files at the same time. I've got 16Gb Transcend JetFlash 330 as well, and it's absolutlely horrible for work with any OSes - installed Windows7/Ubuntu on it and it was extremely slow performance. Kingston is about 10-20 times faster in such situations. BAMT is designed as a live cd with very minimal persistency. Therefore, it loads into memory and only writes changes to the config files, so any old stick will work. A faster one just means faster boots and faster loading the stick from your host box. Once it is running, it doesn't make any difference at all.

I don't shop at Best Buy because I value the integrity of my asshole.
A well known fact about rjk, is that after injesting 290 lbs of candy, they now have diabetes. How is that working out for you anyway? Most of it got sold, which was the intended purpose. But I still need to haul my butt over to the dentist to fix a filling that popped out when chewing a sticky candy.

I don't have a drivers license nor do I want/need one. I have a chauffeur "Home, James. I have an evening appointment to keep with the bitcointalk.org forum members. Don't forget to step on it." Why would that be needed? Ever heard of 3G internet? Too slow. You don't have 4G? Also, I find it easier to type when I am stationary.

Wow, it only took two pages for it to devolve into Gavin-bashing and talk about economics. This has got to be a record And if you want my opinion on bitcoin finances being a zero-sum game... well it sure is when all your profits get stolen.

wow, ok i'm an American and no this isn't a scam and I've just decided not to do it. I've been busy studding for finals lately. And no offence but making fun of how someone spells is wrong, I've had trouble for a long time, I'll try not to take offence to how you blatantly attract me, if only you know how many problems I've had with spelling I never make fun of anyone, but its great to see you all will make fun of someone. Here I was thinking that people on here were nicer than the average person and actually a descent community Unfortunately the bitcointalk forums tend to attract ravenous money grubbing types, and when people start to discuss finances they tend to get pretty nasty when provoked. So no, the overall tone of this community is quite a bit worse than many others. That being said, there are certainly excellent members that contribute often and well, and lend a positive note to what would otherwise become a stinking cesspool far worse than it actually is now. If you want a decent community that will be open an receptive to 'most anything that you want to offer and bring forward, you may wish to start elsewhere. That isn't to say that you shouldn't start here or be discouraged from posting, but rather that you should know that you are being held to a very high standard of excellence that few achieve with good reliability and precision. You are expected to show up with a polished business plan, a solid reputation, (or create one first), and to be immediately available for the long run. It isn't conducive to a student lifestyle where the amount of free time may vary with the seasons, because when something happens, you are held accountable immediately. No offense meant, and I hope you won't take any of it personally, but come back when you can stay a while.

If someone wants to be completely genuine about anti-virus software, why not ask for a government grant to kickstart a FOSS AV program that users are able to download and compile themselves? Then you can absolutely guarantee that your friendly anti-virus isn't burning up the idle time on your GPU.
http://www.clamav.net/lang/en/download/sources/ <-- not commenting on how good it is, but it's open source. I use that for all my mail servers. It's lightweight and fast.

Honest miners keeping network secure for Silkroad criminals, what an irony! Basically miners helping criminals to kill somebody. Botnets will fit better for them for sure, perfect pair. Bitcoin may finally go to hell.
Are you abandoning your (useless) argument about mining and trying another angle with this Silk Road shit? No, I'm just trolling out of boredom. Actually, I would like to break all bones of botnets owners, that would be a real pleasure. QFT I don't care when they are securing the network with others' power and CPU/GPU time, but I draw the line at selling identities.

We would like to let all our clients know that, in case of Bitcoin failure, we will make all our units OpenSource, and thus making it possible for the clients to sell their units to various industries at almost certainly higher price than they purchased it in the first place.
What industry buys used Singles for greater than the purchase price? Presumably anyone that can use a pair of fast FPGAs in a compact box? If I could re-purpose it as a WPA crack-in-a-box, I would pay a grand for it to go driving around cracking WPA in realtime.

Dark operators of botnets leeching off of Bitcoin only promotes the need for legit miners to short their coins to recoup costs at higher difficulties.
Get rid of botnets.
They aren't leeching. They secure the network just like everyone else, and are paid for it by the network... just like everyone else. To be fair, they're more likely not to sell their coins, because they have no costs to recoup (unlike your friendly neighbourhood BFL miner). Are you really this stupid? The only thing they do is cost everyone money. They are a threat to the network themselves. I hope they hijack your pc for being so ignorant. Nice, someone who doesn't appear to know about network security preaching about ignorance. The fact is, it does indeed add to network security, because a higher difficulty means it is harder to attack the bitcoin ecosystem, whether by 51% attacks, finney attacks, and so forth. And furthermore, there are individual users here (many of them, in fact) that have significantly more than just 13-20 ghash/s under their belt, no botnet needed.

For the moment yes, I think the bitcointalk forums server the purpose well enough and have an excellent, dedicated admins, GLBSE doesn't have the resources yet to offer that.
The forum DB has been saved at least, so anything that was in it can be recovered.
I agree with this decision 100%. It was actually doubly a pain to have to check two different places to try to keep an eye on things. Stay focused on what you're doing, making the exchange better and more reliable. bitcointalk is doing a fine job of what they're doing. The introduction of the "Securities" subforum kind of made it redundant anyway.

Reward is now 5 BTC for a successful hack. See the winner link on the homepage at http://www.h4xcomp.com/ for details on the successful tactic. I was looking at the details page, and one conclusion you came to was that bitcoind running as root was more secure than bitcoind running as www-data. However, I don't think either is correct; bitcoind should run as its own user in its own group for the most ideal security. The reason is that if somehow it became possible to cause the bitcoind process to execute arbitrary code via some kind of exploit, it would be contained inside the dedicated user and group (theoretically), instead of being allowed to run rampant as root. I am fairly sure it doesn't need root privileges to run, but if it does you can then use a chroot jail for the best security.

.. whether or not you're using GPUs, BAMT is still useful... or is that no longer the case with BAMT
I like to use a hammer to drive a nail. Sounds like you like using a pliers to drive the nail. Use the right tool for the job. BAMT is the "Big A Miner Thing", which sort of suggests that it could be for more than just GPUs, and it would be even more cool if all the graphs and stuff supported FPGAs of various ilks. Unfortunately, its creator has a lot less time on his hands then do the maintainers of other various bitcoin mining related things. So I suppose at this point it is a question of Patience Grasshopper and donating before anything happens.

This new firmware is either going exactly half as fast, or is triggering a bug in cgminer to make it display exactly half as fast as it should be going. I suspect the latter.
EDIT: cgminer shows 433 mhash/s
Are both active leds on or just one in other words is one FPGA on or two? Both on, all working AOK, Easyminer ran a successful short diagnostic saying 870 mhash/s, pool shows full speed, so must be a miner bug. Actually, I am using bfgminer 2.3.6, so maybe I will upgrade to the latest. Not sure how much difference there is in the display code for speed between bfgminer and cgminer. EDIT: Also, the temps have gone up from 60ish degrees C to around 64, and my kill-a-watt says 119.7 watts (!) EDIT EDIT: Upgrading to BFGMiner 2.4.1 fixed the display bug. Also, the single is steady at 120 watts, up from 80 or so.
