361  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hey Gamblers, Here's Some Questions for you. Would Love your Responses on them on: January 27, 2024, 08:11:38 PM
1. What's the most effective method for discovering a new online casino when you're seeking a change from your usual options?

Personally, the best method would always be to check various threads under the gambling section about gambling websites.

Not only do you get to check new online gambling platforms but you will also be provided with tons of feedback among its users. Additionally, if you see an online gambling company being currently advertised as a signature campaign, this would indicate a good sign of its genuineness (with the exception of 1xbit).

Quote
2. How would you describe your overall satisfaction with any of the mentioned options?

I would describe it as highly satisfactory given on how reliable it is.

If you pair it up by reading the ANN threads of gambling websites in this forum, you will definitely see statements made by its own player base and users. Most of the feedback that you can also see are impartial and without prejudice.

Quote
3. Would you recommend a beginner to follow a similar approach based on your personal experiences?

I would definitely recommend a beginner to check the ANN threads of various gambling websites as this is considered the best approach in seeking for online gambling websites.

Quote
4. In your opinion, should online casinos adopt corporate social responsibility practices? If yes, what specific initiatives would you like to see them undertake? If no, what is your reasoning behind it?

I think this depends on the online casino but this will definitely help shape their reputation on their player base. If they adopt CSR methods (e.g. going green, allocating budget for xxx... etc.), then this can also be a form of advertisement to others as well.
362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is it Bitcoin and Lambo? And not Ferrari for example? on: January 27, 2024, 07:53:01 PM
Why always Lambo and Bitcoin?
There are several rumors about the reason, but I think the story goes back to 2014 when a 4chan member bought a Lamborghini with the money he had from Bitcoin. He posted the picture on Reddit and then it became a sign of wealth for everyone who buys Bitcoin.
It cost him about 210 bitcoins at that time. Today it costs you about 6 bitcoins.

It was mentioned in this ARTICLE that:

Quote
In 2014, a 4chan user bought a Lamborghini Gallardo with bitcoin, spending 216 bitcoins for the car (about $209,995 at the tie.) The buyer leaked the documents, so the Reddit legend goes, and bought the car using a third-party service that verifies bitcoin.1

Interesting enough, there were also some signature campaign (afaik Freebitco.in) that used a Lamborghini as their profile image in advertising their campaign. Others have already mentioned that the use of a Lambo is a slogan that symbolizes wealth and power. It is also often associated with the rich that they are the ones privileged enough to own one of these luxuries.

I guess Lambos are just frequently used as a symbol of wealth as this can be gleaned from other sources and not just by BTC. Though this may be the case, I still think that BTC being associated with a Ferrari would be more fitting, though this is just my opinion.

1 https://digiday.com/marketing/lambo-lamborghini-became-status-brand-crypto-boom/#:~:text=In%202014%2C%20a%204chan%20user,party%20service%20that%20verifies%20bitcoin.

You could associate any car brand that you want or anything luxurious, it will all fall to the idea that people are too optimistic of bitcoin investment as a way to wealth. Especially at this moment wherein bullrun is much anticipated by many investors because of what happened on the previous Bitcoin halving. Things are valid but lt us not be too confident of things given that risk is always present.

Yup I do agree with your statement.

At the end of the day, it is just a symbol for wealth that people often associate with other stuff that are also branded as "luxury." The fact that you can purchase a Lambo signifies that you are indeed a wealthy person; and the fact that you own several BTCs makes you a perfect fit into this category. Thus, the slogan Lambo and BTC are often used with each other just as to signify your wealth in general.
363  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much Did you like this forum on: January 27, 2024, 07:35:14 PM
He sincerely told me that in Did not need any Course To widen My horizon that I should just join this forum that anything  relating To bitcoin And crypto currency is discussed here in details , I Was not Too certain with his explanantion till the day that I joined the forum. I may not have learnt alot But the forum is one of the Good things that happend To me last year because I stopped paying for Courses online ..

I somehow beg to disagree with what your friend told you.

Sure, lots of people (including me) first started our journey here in this forum without even knowing anything about cryptocurrencies. But at the same time, with that amount of knowledge, we still used different materials and explored different options in order to widen our understanding about this complex innovation.

For example, I watched several videos on YouTube on how the blockchain works (e.g. TedTalk, etc.) and I even watched some videos explaining on how cryptocurrencies work in a very simplified manner.

Sure, this forum works as a guide to newbies in joining the cryptocurrency world but there are also tons of materials and tools available online that are for free in order to grasp quickly the idea of cryptocurrencies.

Quote
Lastly ,I know that I am still new on the forum  But I will also plead that the High ranked members should also continue guiding us Till we grow like them .

High ranking members will continue to build this forum and shape it to its very best form for everyone's benefit. If you would observe similar threads like these, tons of veterans are contributing daily information about the cryptocurrency world and others contribute QOL changes for everyone's easy access.

To conclude, utilize this forum as a tool for your cryptocurrency journey. While this forum exists for this purpose, remember to also maximize different materials that are available for free across the internet so you would be able to understand the topic and its foundations.
364  Economy / Economics / Re: Save while young better than wait on: January 27, 2024, 07:17:26 PM
Look, you can be old and rich or young an poor, but being old and poor is bad shit.

A surefire way of doing the wrong kind of things is to spend your money early or try to live a good life quickly without thinking about the future. Or if you have an ok job or income to think that is enough, even if you cannot save.

I will be honest- I am somehow guilty of this. I tend to think of only the short-term satisfaction (even knowing that the long-term planning would give me a better outcome) rather than maximizing the opportunity that I have currently with my BTCs.

For example, majority of my BTCs have been spent in paying my monthly bills as a graduate student. Sure, I can set aside some of my savings in order to answer for these obligations but I tend to rely on my BTCs for it even that I know that the price of the latter would increase in the near future.

Quote
All young people, understand that time an money are linked. It is not the same to invest early than late, it is not the same  to invest more early that try to invest more later. 100 is worth 100 today, but 800 in 20 years if you play it safe but well. Make no mistake, you will need to start creating your wealth.

I just hope that I would be able to manage my resources wisely. I am fully aware that the fork is happening soon and we all know what happens in the price of BTC when the former happens. Instead of using my BTCs, I will definitely try my best to save it for the future in order to take advantage of the fork.
365  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Focus on how much you may lose and not only the potential win. on: January 27, 2024, 06:58:16 PM

OP, I vividly understand you, but gamblers don't think this way, note the idea of a gambler is to win despite that most of them know that losing is inevitable in gambling, some gamblers see winning to be a constant thing in gambling but that's is high level of fallacy, gambling has principles and these principles must come to play, it is normal for a good gambler to have it in mind that gambling is not a certain event so that when you gamble, your expectation shouldn't be one sided, you should reason in different direction which is the aspect of failing to retain your stake or getting your stake back with profits attached.

The gambler get into the gambling in the way of getting the winning dollars in the gambling site. The gambler should ready to face the gambling loss when they have the negative side of game. The gambling doesn’t have the constant win or loss in the game, the gambler should ready to face it.The gambler who use the strategy to win the game will able to win the good money in the gambling. The gambler who use to bet in the random way without any stable game will loss the funds at the end. Many gamblers will do this mistake in the betting, the expectation in the gambling should be accepted in both the positive and negative way.

I am somehow confused on your statement but let me try to breakdown on what you just mentioned.

First, the gambler who utilizes different strategies depending on the game does not give you a guaranteed/absolute win but it does increase the chances of you winning. For example, in Poker, if players employ different techniques (e.g. bluffing, etc.) then they may be able to turn the tide of the battle even with a weaker hand compared to others.

Second, a gambler that does not employ some kind of tactic or just bets in a "random way" may indeed lose money but this is not always the case. Let's take slots as an example- the only thing that you do there is to push the lever and pray that you win. No matter how much technique you put into it, the result may vary depending on your luck as it is irrelevant.

Lastly, I do agree with what you mentioned that in the expectations of gambling, it should always be a two-way street. This means that either result can be experienced by the average gambler no matter how lucky/unlucky they may be in a single run.

In conclusion, I do think that gamblers should have a reasonable expectation when they delve into this activity. There is nothing absolute nor guarantee in this game- it's either you win or you lose; and the steps that you take after such result will determine your success/lost in the long run.
366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is addiction bad only when it is a problem? on: January 27, 2024, 06:20:33 PM
Addiction to gambling is not a problem for some gamblers because there are some gamblers who are addicted to gambling, but it doesn't affect the other activities of their life. They take care of their families, wear good clothes, smell nice, meet up with appointments but still cannot control the urge to gamble. It doesn't affect their life because they can afford to gamble and manage the loses they make. So, to these people addiction is not a problem. They are addicts, but because they are successful, their addiction is ignored or excused as it is not a problem.
So I am need to know, is addiction only bad when it is a problem?

This may be a controversial opinion but I firmly believe that addiction is a problem when it harms your daily activities.

Addiction, in general, is something that everyone should avoid especially if it interferes with your day-to-day operations. While there may be some people who are addicted to something, it is not automatic that it interferes or becomes a problem with their standard operation of living.

Just to give you a personal example, I am addicted to playing online and computer games. While this addiction of mine can be problematic, I still have the responsibility in which I should balance my academics + recreational activities.

This is the reason on why I do believe that addiction becomes a problem when IT IS a problem in the first place. If you think that you can handle and control your desires, then I see no problem with its overall impact.
367  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can gambling addiction lead to domestic violence? on: January 27, 2024, 04:37:12 PM
However, I'm wondering if addiction can make someone become aggressive to the point of leading to domestic violence. Has there been any known case of it happening? Lets know what you have to say.

Addiction, in gambling, can definitely lead to violence especially if it gets out of control.

Naturally, excessive gambling can lead to a serious of problems both financially and physically. The addicted can get stuck in a cycle where they tend to continue gambling in order to recover their losses. Unfortunately, this leads to more things that may further escalate in which violence is always a tendency in this situation.

At the end of the day, gambling is one of those things that can spiral out of control when the person cannot control their urges. This can potentially lead to violence and even death especially if the situation cannot be controlled to a certain degree.
368  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the definition of a Gambler? Do you consider yourself as a Gambler? on: January 27, 2024, 04:02:25 PM
Personally, I don't like the word Gambler tbh. And it feels more worse when someone calls someone a Gambler in the local language. I played some hands it's true and I tested many games for test purposes But I was never affected by the gamble. and I consider I am not a gambler myself. Somehow I do not feel good or something does not fit with me by this word.

What do you think about yourself and how do you want to define the word Gambler?

For its general meaning, a gambler is someone who engages in activities in which there is an element of risk on both the player and the act. Anything can be considered as “gambling” as soon as there is risk which does not need any monetary aspect.

In this example, a person can be considered gambling even if they are not present in any gambling establishment.

Personally, there was a time that I considered myself as a gambler even if I do not frequent myself into visiting online gambling websites or physical gambling casinos. As long as I expose myself into a risky position where the result can go otherwise, that is considered as gambling.
369  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best time to buy BTC NOW? on: January 26, 2024, 08:56:29 PM
As you might know, the price of bitcoin reached its lower point since last month.

Should those who want to buy more do it now or do you believe we'll see the bitcoin price get down a little more?

Some here were talking about rumours of BTC being purchased from Saudi Arabia, but well, that's just a rumour.
But people tend to panic and sell, so this might be the best moment to buy as much btc as possible. What do you think?

I do agree that today may be the best time to buy BTC now for your long-term investment.

As a rule, the best time to purchase any BTC is when you discover about its existence- aka your first day of learning about BTC. While this may be true, if you can also check the price history graph, you may see a pattern where the price of BTC is increasing over the past few months.

For either long or short-term strategy, it is definitely recommended to purchase BTC to take advantage of its price volatility in the market.
370  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are newbies afraid to comment on threads of highly ranked members? on: January 26, 2024, 05:37:30 PM
I actually somehow resonate with your question, OP.

There are some times where I feel hesitant whenever I want to comment on threads filled with high-ranking members. I feel intimidated also as I feel like my comment would be ignored or someone would comment on the things that I say.

But at the end of the day, it really depends on how you hold your statement/argument on something. If you compose your message when some sense on it and you describe/discuss a genuine issue, then everyone would try to answer and discuss it with you.

High-ranking members, though they may seem intimidating, are also just people who have a common goal- which is to build and support this forum as best as possible. If you share something that you think that is with sense, then expect at least some people to discuss it with you.

Source: https://news.abs-cbn.com/business/01/25/24/coinsph-expanding-globally-eyes-slice-of-remittances

This is interesting- it is really nice to see na nag-eexpand na sila globally kasi mas mapapadali talaga ang buhay ng mga taong nasa ibang bansa sa pag pasok ng cryptocurrency dito sa bansa.

Before, medyo hater ako ni coins.ph dahil sa paulit-ulit na verification process nito (KYC ng KYC) na kahit mag submit ka, mag aask pa din sila ng extra details about it. Tapos even after you passed all the required documents, nag eexpire ito tapos mag aask ulit sila for further confirmation.

Anyway, this is a good move on them that will benefit everyone in the long run. Pero siguro at this time, Binance pa rin ang superior na exchange given sa lahat ng mga perks na pwede mong magawa sa website nila.
372  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambling for fun vs gambling for the financial benefit. on: January 26, 2024, 04:46:55 PM
I have read a lot of thread on this board talking about the need to gamble responsibly and suggesting that gambling is meant to be done for fun and not to be seen as a means of livelihood. While this is theoretically alright, in the reality so many persons actually gamble because they want to get some financial top up from the gamble.

This is actually the ideal situation for every gambler. Once you view gambling as a means of livelihood and income, you putting yourself in a very risky position especially if you have obligations to fulfill daily.

Again, gambling is not for the faint of heart- the experiences that people have shared are already written in blood as lots of people have already lost their lives battling this kind of addiction.

Quote
Do you really see gambling as more of fun than a means to a financial end?

There was a point in my life where I viewed gambling as a means of earning income.

When I was young, the dream of earning huge amounts of cash was something that I hoped to experience. But gambling has made it possible given that I have already incurred some profit along the way. But this kind of experience was short-lived given that the profit that I have incurred along the way was taken from me wen I continued to gamble.

Quote
how much can you put into gambling before it removes the fun aspect of gambling out of it?

Again, this depends on the profit threshold of the person gambling.

The monetary aspect and livelihood of the person plays a crucial role in determining on what is "fun" on gambling in the first place. There are rich people who find gambling fun as they bet thousands to millions of $$$ in the process; but there are also people who bet a handful amount of money and they experience the same joy as the ones who have betted millions.
373  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Older men vs Younger boys in gambling, Which enjoys Gambling for fun the more? on: January 26, 2024, 03:47:00 PM
And the question is very simple, Between the older men (talking of from 60 years old and above), and younger men (talking of from 18 to 45 years of age) which of this category of men actually gamble for fun the more?

This is actually a difficult question to answer given that there are players who have different views and perspectives when it comes to gambling in which age is irrelevant.

For example, a young gambler may enjoy gambling and experiencing that adrenaline despite having a limited amount of money due to the obligations that they do not need to fulfill. On the other hand, there may be adult gamblers who view gambling as a way to release stress which eliminates profit as a factor.

Quote
If I was to answer this question, I did say that the older men are more likely to be gambling for fun, than the younger men, and this is due to several reasons which I am not going to mention yet, but will see users who share in this same view of mine will be able to also come up with same reasons.

Older men have the tendency to have more cash compared to young gamblers. If you will also notice, majority of the gamblers on physical casinos are senior citizens in which they are already rich to begin with. They have no obligations to fulfill so they splurge their resources into gambling more.

374  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much knowledge is enough to satisfy an individual on: January 25, 2024, 04:24:41 PM
Even in this forum I have also seen high ranked members who are staff and with thousands of posts and merits yet they also post every day hoping to be merited as well , and the question again here Is when will they be satisfied?.

I think when you reach that certain level of knowledge across this forum, your main goal is not about being merited but to greatly help the community and grow this forum as a whole. It just so happens also that these high ranked members are just really knowledgeable at what they do that they contribute immensely for the betterment of this forum.

Quote
Finally , I have also seen my friends bitcoin wallet with so many coins in dollars yet they buy bitcoin every day , trade everyday , HODL coins everyday , so the question here is when will they be satisfied?
However, I will be very glad if someone can highlight more on this and educate me more thanks .

Bitcoin can be treated as an investment. With its significant value in the market, people love to trade, HODL, and even purchase BTC in hopes of profiting in the future. At this point, it is not about getting rich (in which majority of them already are) but maintaining their current status.
375  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: While placing bet what comes your mind on: January 25, 2024, 03:40:26 PM
Yesterday was trying to place bet and during the process something in me keeps telling me to increase your wager do you know if you would hit something you never won before.. I was like is this how other people are being controlled by gambling or is it how it works? I said, no wonder some people gamble and finishes their allocation for the week or month. This can even lead someone to also go borrow if this feeling is not killed and stop, you can also see that this attributes in gambling addiction.

However, have you had this feeling while gambling before be it offline casino and online casinos?

Well whenever I place my bet, I think about the jackpot that I may hit or the losses that I can potentially incur.

Normally, it is common for me to overthink whenever I place my bets. There is this mixed feelings of both regret and hope dancing around my brain in which I am ready to experience whatever the outcome may be. I tend to prepare myself always for the worst outcome to at least rationalize to myself that what I did was wrong. Then this kind of mindset quickly turns around whenever I bet and I incur some profit along the way.

Yes I have had this kind of feelings several times when I was new into gambling. When the feeling comes in and I have extra cash I always increase my stakes. Sometimes it favoured me but most time I lost. It was after several losses that I made a resolution to stick to my initial budget of betting. So gradually I learnt not to listen to that feeling whenever it comes. It does come around every once in a while but I don't need to it anymore.

This is precisely the reason on why it is recommended that you only bring a handful amount of money whenever you bet.

Not only does this prevent you from overspending but this also limits all of your expenses in a single day. Always limit what you bet on a single day and you will be surprised by the amount of money that you can save from it.
376  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you preffer your dealer talkative or not? on: January 25, 2024, 03:00:29 PM
What do you think about this all? Do you like your dealer talkative or not?
And if you prefer the dealer being talkative, would you mind if they made up some story just to keep talking? Or would you prefer even that over silence?
How can a dealer be silent? I have not noticed that before. But they can be silent and talk when necessary which means they are not talkative. But to be completely silent is another thing and that will make the game boring and not worth it at all. I like dealers that talk but in a professional way and talking about what is related to the current game that we are staking on and sometimes announce some winners. If a dealer fake some conversations, I am not the type that will easily know if he or she is faking it, talking makes it lively. But to some people, winning is what that makes it lively and not the talking.

It actually depends on my mood.

If I feel like I am on a losing streak and I am playing some card games that somehow involves skill (e.g. poker, blackjack, etc.), then I would prefer that my dealer would be silent with respect to anything that he/she shares outside gambling. But if I am in the mood where I get to experience some winning streak, I would also prefer that my dealer to be NOT silent.

At the end of the day, it entirely depends on my mood if I want to socialize with people or not. I mean obviously, if I were playing in an online platform, I would prefer otherwise due to the nature of the circumstances.
377  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do i handle my first gambling experience on: January 25, 2024, 10:21:13 AM
How do I prepare myself for my first gambling experience?
What are the things I should expect as a first time gambler?

For starters, determine first on why you want to gamble in the first place. Ask yourself- do you want to gamble purely for entertainment? For profit; or both?

Once you have answered this question, set realistic expectations and goal. Understand that gambling is a dangerous habit/addiction if you fail to be responsible with your expenses. Sure, there may be times where you get to win a relatively amount of cash but remember that it is always a double-edged sword.

Lastly, allocate a specific budget for your gambling experience. At that budget, try your very best not to exceed the budget you have allocated in order to prevent any over expenditure on your part.

Quote
How do we react to my first gambling results be it winning or lose?

It is always sucks to lose and your initial reaction here would be to recover that loss by gambling again. Resist this urge to gamble again as your losses may accumulate in the process.

If you win, then try your best NOT to be greedy. Remember that your win is only as good as the last time you gambled and your winnings may be overturned by just a single mistake on your part.
378  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you been able to win a game given to you in the dream? on: January 25, 2024, 10:05:27 AM
<..snip..>
So what experience have you entered in your dream about gambling?
Have you ever won a game from dream?

Please shear your experience.

Well there was one particular dream that went straight to my core memory about gambling.

Back in 2017, I was notoriously active in gambling Dota 2 skins in dota2lounge.com. Before, you can bet your skins by placing your bet in a team and the chances were mostly 50/50 depending on the team matchup. There was a time where I would win around $50 worth of Dota 2 skins and I would recycle them to be used for new bets at the same time.

I did this cycle for about 2-3 months until there was a dream that I experienced. During that time, it was the internationals- meaning it was the biggest tournament in Dota 2 history where prizes would reach millions of dollars. I dreamt about a certain team winning against a specific matchup and I thought it was a sign for me to go all in with all of my skins.

Fast forward, my $150 worth of skins (I started with only $5 worth of skins) were all gone in a single game. My months of being lucky was wiped in just a single night.
379  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your Roller Coaster feeling When You Gambling on: January 24, 2024, 10:57:19 PM
An hour before going to a casino?

I feel excited and very motivated to gamble. I want to test my luck and to see if I can at least accumulate a short-term profit then I would leave the casino and call it a day!

Quote
After logging in and pulling out the games you are about to play?

Again, I feel motivated to play as I get ready to test my luck with the games that I have in stored. Sometimes, I see gambling more for entertainment than for profit especially if I am stressed out due to my work.

Quote
While playing?

While playing, there are mixed emotions depending on the outcome- if there is a losing streak, I feel anxious and there is that feeling of guilt. But when there is a losing streak, that is when I feel the adrenaline on my veins.

Quote
After you experience successive losses?

Like what I mentioned above, a losing streak makes me feel anxious and guilty. There is also that feeling of regret that I should have stopped and limited myself to a certain loss in order to keep my losses at a certain level.

Quote
After you won successively?

Again like what I mentioned above, experiencing a winning streak makes me feel the adrenaline. It makes me want to gamble more but I am a firm believer that the more you gamble, the more risk you expose yourself into losing.

Quote
After you log out whether you win or lose?

This really depends on the overall outcome of the game.

If I lost during my gambling experience, then I feel guilty about my decisions. That feeling of regret also kicks it and there are also tims where I hoped that the outcome would have been different.

But if I won during my stay, then I think of ways in order to use my profit. I consider winning on gambling as "dirty money" where I should spend it on things that would benefit me.
380  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can a social or casual good guesser make better gambling prediction carrier? on: January 24, 2024, 04:10:49 PM
<..snip..>
This opted one of us to say to the champion that.... Oh wow, man, you are professional guesser. Maybe someone like you could be a professional gambling predictional.

I am concerned to ask, can such a person build a gambling carrier with such an excellent guessing prohibition? Or he should trash it all and believe that gambling predictions remains a game of luck?

Nah, I do not think that a person can build a gambling career with excellent guessing prohibition.

Remember that your officemates probably know each other for a relatively long time. They probably also have stalked some of your co-workers through social media platforms that at least gave them an idea and contributed to the factor on how they guessed it right.

One guessing game does not and cannot equate to a person completely good at predictions. One scenario or isolated experience cannot give rise to a gifted skill of the art of prediction as the circumstances are completely different if they were to predict in a gambling setup and platform.
